Rear backup camera has inverted picture and sometimes blank picture. I see recalls for newer Edge models with same problem but not the 2011. Second issue: sometimes the door ajar light is displayed on dash when doors are closed. Usually indicates driver door. Close several times and then it will finally work again. Has caused battery to run down in past if not caught before leaving vehicle. This is random as to when it happens, but I see online that it’s a common problem.
First it's been a great car. But out of no where my body control module started to get hot . Now it has problems starting and keeping power.
I recently bought this vehicle July 3, 2025 I have got it diagnosed and I have got everything replaced that was needed I have got a replacement battery, started, and alternator checked by different people everyone is saying they are good. But I keep getting "battery saver-system off please turn ignition off or start the engine" and it has shut down completely while I was in traffic and hesitant while driving and when I turn on the truck it says "sync performing scheduled system maintenance " and it has a loading bar underneath it. At this point I do not know what else to do please help !!!!.
Overheating && electrical !!!! it’s been over heating since I got the dealership fixed it free of charge I’m still having the same problem I looked it up there are 3 recalls that’s I’m having the exact same problems with.
There were three recalls listed on your site that are no longer active which perfectly describe what is going on with my car at the moment we have had major electrical problems with it we have had problems with the tailgate not latching and opening while driving down the road also overheating when stopped at a light all of a sudden the air conditioner starts blowing hot air and it shoots up and overheats while you're idling out of traffic light the electrical system is totally messed up I can't even begin to list everything that has gone wrong with that the lights being turned on when we're not in the car to the no key in car actually going down the road it shut down no key and we were able to get it back on again but for a minute I thought that the car was going to stop moving it seems that this model car has had these issues in the past that recalls have been put out for but nothing is active for it right now and we're experiencing what was going on in those recalls I would appreciate it if you could look into this for me my daughter drives his car to school and she has been stranded several times I don't feel that it's safe for her to drive in this condition please let me know if there's anything you can do to reinstate any of these recalls to goodwill type extension of these recalls I don't know what to do at this point because all of this is very expensive to fix I am [xxx] she is a student I just want her to be able to drive a car that she's not going to get hurt in or be stranded someplace thank you for taking the time to look at this and I will hope to hear from you again my email is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. 2011 Ford Edge backup camera system stopped working correctly in March 2025. The camera image is upside down.
I'm not sure if it's electrical or the transmission. My car is not going on parking gear. The car don't start abs the shifter is not moving. My car shifter was on parking gear, but on the dash it's not showing it's on parking. My safety concern is that the car rolls (moves) even though the car is off , no keys in the ignition. It's on parking but on the dash it's not displaying thr it's on parking gear. I need to apply the emergency breaks to keep the car from rolling ( moving) if the emergency breaks goes off the vehicle is going to roll causing to crash. I removed the cover to see if there was something causing the shifter from not moving. Then I took it to the nearest auto repair. I explained the issue and concern. They state the the shifter cable needs to be replaced. I took my vehicle to a mechanic for a second opinion he said it not the shifter cable. I never had this problem until recently. There was no warning it just didn't want to start. Now it is not go on parking gear. And it only starts un nneutraland to turned it off . I have to put it on reverse gear in order to retrieve my keys. And the emergency break must be on if not the car will roll.
Power steering leak(took it 3times to get it serviced), breaks(leak), transmission fluid leak(have to refill transmission fluid every week), electrical (dash board lights go off and on sometimes and do other funny stuff), back up my camera doesn’t work(car has blind spots so I need the camera to work), roof windows (work when they want), trunk door (closes by itself hitting me at closing). Check lights, tire light is on constantly and on since I bought the car, also oil light but now only sometimes since I keep putting oil and transmission fluid. And has something missing on the front windshield and sensor device of some sort and sometimes when I break I feel the vehicle wanting to go faster instead of stopping. Jerks. I took my vehicle to Ford and they pretty much ignored me making me there was no solution. No reports or anything. I called several times to take my car to get serviced telling them I felt unsafe but they pretended they couldn’t here me they didn’t want to deal with me cause my vehicle was too old 2011 Ford Edge limited. I don’t think it’s old I need a little guidance here before I take it to the next step. Please help me fix my vehicle my insurance at the time told me it has two recalls and Ford shined me off three or four times telling me no instead of helping.
Passenger door door ajar light laminates and will not shut off. Now battery keeps dying.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the door locks failed to operate as intended. The sunroof froze while closing or opening. The contact stated that the lights were flashing independently, and the alarm was independently activated. In addition, there was a burning odor entering the vehicle through the a/c vents. The message "door ajar" was displayed; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the costs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Door ajar not working. Was replaced twice under warranty. This should have been a recall.
Door ajar is constantly on. Front passenger door. This is causing my dome lights to stay on, my key beeps twice when securing vehicle.
My car will turn on the lights in the middle of the night, without anybody in it. Battery is continuously dead, even after replacing with a new battery. The alternator and starter have been checked and are good. The passenger door ajar is always on. When I lock the car with my key fob it honks twice and the lights inside the car remain on. The car will die while driving it, when I am at a stop light. The engine light will come on and the only warning that appears is passenger door ajar. Other Ford vehicles have a recall for these horrible issues and my vehicle should be as well. This is a major issue caused by Ford. Period. There is no specific date for this issue, it happens every single day since I have owned this 2011 Ford Edge se fwd.
The door ajar is not indicating door is shut therfore I am unable to lock door also dome lights remain on draining battery. I have tried cleaning out area it helps sometimes then goes back to not working. This is a safety issue for me and my kids as I cannot lock my vehicle and my vehicle will not lock making it unsafe while driving.
Purchased a Ford Edge 2013 on July 27th 2022, from day one, the door ajar light will not go off. We have shut the door, slammed the door, and it still stays on. This is causing the car alarm to go off randomly and the battery is getting weak. We have taken it to Ford and they want $500 to fix the issue. This should be a recall!!.
Have had 2 boosters put in. Still have pedal fade or pedal stiffness. Also had hcu put in as well as anti lock brake unit put in. Still have same brake problems. Also during this whole fiasco the new pads and rotors got destroyed with in 3000 miles of installation due to brakes locking up while driving and not releasing the pads. We have over 5000. 00 dollars invested into brakes and still have a brake problem . I have call the 1-800 customer service number over 5 times asking to speak to a supervisor and have been told the will call back with in 24 hours and the have never called back. This is a huge safety issue as well as an out of pocket issue. James plumb 13400 n 1150th rd macomb , illinois 61455 217-357-4256.
My door ajar light keeps coming on and causing my interior lights to stay on for long periods of time. Today it finally drained my battery. Also when the door ajar light come on, I cannot lock my doors.
Door latch sensor doesn’t recognize that the drivers door is shut most of the time. This causes the dome light to remain on and makes it almost impossible to see to back up at night especially with the malfunction of the backup camera. Nothing has happened but as this is apparently a common problem with these cars I am super concerned that it could cause an accident or for someone or something to be ran over backing out of a driveway or parking lot.
The driver door actuator is a serious problem and malfunctions putting my children at risk. I am unable to lock the vehicle doors because even though I close the driver door the car thinks my door is open when its actually closed also I am unable to enable my alarm system when this happens because again the car thinks the driver door is open when in fact its closed. I had an electrical mechanic look at it yesterday 4/22/22 and there seems to be many people having the same issue. I close the driver door and even though the drivers door is closed on the dash board it reads driver door ajar which is a serious safety issue to my children/passengers and possible theft of my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the low battery warning light was illuminated. The contact purchased a new battery, and her brother replaced the battery. The contact stated that the system check, the rear suspension, and the door ajar warning lights were illuminated. The contact closed the door, and the electric maintenance was reset independently. The contact stated the instrument panel would intermittently turn off and on. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 11v128000 (electrical system) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
When closing my front passenger door, the door ajar light remains on. With this, my doors will not lock creating a potentially dangerous situation where a person could open my doors if I’m driving. I either have to repeatedly slam the door until it closes or just leave it as is, but as stated my doors will not lock. I do not want the risk of having someone opening my doors while I’m inside, have young children open the door while in drive, or have someone break into my car.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the electrical system was inoperable. The contact stated that the control panel did not display any connected features. Additionally, the control switches for the doors and the windows were inoperable, and the doors failed to lock or unlock as needed. The contact stated that the windows also failed to roll up or roll down. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times where the vehicle was purchased; however, the vehicle was not serviced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 94,276.
I own a 2011 Ford Edge that has a reoccurring door latch issue. This is a well known issue with certain Ford Edge years. The door latches are defective and malfunction, causing a "door ajar" dash warning light and the interior lights come on. We have had all 4 door latches replaced, but I currently have one malfunctioning again. The last one I had replaced in 2018 was not covered under warranty, and cost me $350. I spoke with Ford and they refuse to reimburse me. My daughter currently drives this car. It is unsafe when the interior lights come on at night when driving due to this issue. Ford should step up and recall these models with this problem.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the infotainment screen touch pad was engaging functions independently. Additionally, the contact stated the rearview camera, and the gps were intermittently inoperable. The contact replaced the image processing module (ipm); however, the failure persisted. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the awd and cruise control modes disengaged unintendedly. The contact stated that messages indicating that the traction control, cruise control, and the awd were disengaged were displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
When I start the vehicle the door ajar warning light goes on and will not shut off. When I shut off the vehicle the interior light stays on. When I am sleeping in the middle of the night my warning system goes off and the car beeps constantly until I hit the key transponder with key in my hand the automatic lock will not unlock unless I press the unlock button ( I changed batteries in both of my keys).
I have had several problems with my back up camera. My camera now is showing the picture upside down. As a [xxx], I am using this for safety and it is very distressing since this is one reason I purchased my Ford vehicle. I see there has been a recall issued for some 2011 Ford Edge vehicles and wondering how I could get my VIN number added. I feel this is a serious issue for safety. I purchased my 2011 Ford Edge limited 4/28/21. . . Every since this car has gave me hell. Both Cadillac converters keep going on, the heat shield is constantly rattling, and the switch to the wiper is bad.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was an abnormally loud cranking sound upon starting the vehicle. While driving at highway speeds, there was a steady abnormal sound detected. The engine, traction control, low tire pressure, fuel, and oil warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, tires were inflated by an independent mechanic. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics who determined that the steering angle sensor and steering wheel module needed reprogramming, an alignment was needed. Additionally, the apim (accessory protocol interface module), bcm (body control module), and the drivers and front seat module needed to be replaced. The restraint control module, steering wheel module, and brake system had failed, and the powertrain control module (pcm) needed to be replaced. The contact was unsure if the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Car shut off on a major high way. No power. Almost got hit by another car. Needed to be towed home. Ford dealership has had my car for 2 weeks with no help!!!!!.
Won't switch gears and smells like it is burning.
2011 Ford Edge limited, intermittent pedal fade. While depressing brake pedal, pedal will fade to the floor. Eventually pedal will return to normal operation over time. Brake booster and master have been replaced and are functioning normal. This issue is intermittent and extremely dangerous and should be addressed. This issue happens while driving, wife almost had multiple accidents due to the hcu valves sticking open on abs pump side and not closing. Events get worse in colder conditions. Vehicle has been in the shop multiple times, flushed with specified brake fluid, bled and mechanically bled. Ford dealership stated that there is nothing else they can do for us. Cost of repairs have surpassed $2900 worth of diagnostics and is still not fixed. Vehicle is less than 90k miles on it and is currently unsafe to drive.
Since I purchase 2011 Ford Edge from my dealer in babylon NY . I have issues with electrical, loss of power during winter, and the worse has been the brakes, master cylinder to brakes keep failing and I never no even I change my brakes when they can fail . I am scared of driving this unsafe vehicle. My dealer does not respond to my vehicle.
2011 Ford Edge 102k miles. Front driver door light ajar, the door indicating its ajar keeps the lights in the vehicle illuminated, this in turned drained the battery. Very hard to tell the lights inside are on during daylight hours. Unfortunately this situation left my wife and kids stranded. Looked up solutions for this when I ran across the recall 19n09 for this situation. Took it to the local dealership where it was diagnosed as the the issue. They noted this was a very common issue with these cars. Unfortunately today's date (8/26/20) was 26 days past the recall expiration date of 7/31/20. The dealership advised me they couldn't fix the issue under the recall due to the expiration and the repair would cost $471. I called Ford directly where they politely told me I missed the date and therefore I was on my own. I'm very disappointed in Ford's decision to not stand behind the recall and take care of the known issue with the Edge after being only 26 days after a recall expired. I asked Ford if they had notified me of this issue with the vehicle prior to the recall expiring, they said they sent me a notice in January, I asked them to confirm the address that notice was sent to and they intimately asked me to verify my address to them. Red flag. . . . I got the feeling they did not send out any notice on this recall and they could not confirm where they sent the notice to. Ford advised me to pay up, get it fixed but keep the receipt in case the recall opens back up they would reimburse me for it. Very disappointed in this situation and in Ford. The way the car is currently is not safe for my wife and kids to drive. The dealership told me that I could just "disconnect the negative terminal to stop the battery from draining"! Ford please do the right thing and open this recall back up.
When driving I would hear clunking noises, when turning and breaking. My air bags sensor ideally off, and I'm experiencing electrical issues.
Door ajar sensor does not work properly and alarm will sound if you lock doors.
