The sync system quit working. There is a black screen and I am unable to use the backup camera or see the temperature controls for the vehicle. It has been this way for about a month. On my Ford app it shows 2 things that need to be fixed. I called the dealership and they said I have to pay $173 for them to look at it and they show no recalls.
All door sensors needed replacing. The front interface display module needed to be replaced because the hazard lights came on for no reasons and couldn't be turned off. Rear view camera doesn't work. Front hood needs painting from poor clear coat. It took one month for Ford to get the fidm. Numerous recalls but Ford said they don't apply to the Ford Edge. As a family we have a Ford Edge, f-150 lariat, escape, explorer and a f-250. This is current and not including all the other vehicles we had from Ford.
The door latch sensor dose not work all the time. Witch means the doors will not lock which makes me feel unsafe driving my vehicle. There has been a lot of complaints on this with the Edges years 2011 to 2013. There should be a recall on this if a lot of people are have this problem to keep us safe. Anyone could open your door at a red light.
Tonight, I was closing my sunroof an it took 5 minutes and 3 people to close it. One person had to push the button to close it and the other two had to push the glass from the outside. Every time we did that it kept resisting and popping back to the open position. I have took it to Ford about a month ago when I got my oil changed they told me to tried to clean the tracks of it and lub on my own or have Ford do it for almost $1,000. 00. I don't have that kind of money. They. Told me this has happened to all the sunroof of this year. I feel if most people have had this problem they should offer some kind of help or a recall on it.
While driving in the city my hazard lights came on automatically and I could not turn them off. This also made my blinkers incapable of being used, a clear safety issue and law offense. My hazard lights continued to turn on and off automatically leaving me with a drained battery. I have researched the recalls and it seems this can be a fire hazard but my car was not on this recall list.
Rear left door ajar button constantly is lit up, even when the door is shut. This is causing the vehicle to keep interior lights on and even trigger the alarm to sound at times, causing the battery to die often.
Black screen for back up cam and radio. Heated seat on drivers side doesn't work.
I was driving my Ford Edge on route 303 in phoenix at about 60 miles per hour when the car suddenly started shaking and losing power. It allowed me to drive a very short distance until I was able to stop the car, in a turn lane with a tractor trailer on my tail . . . Very disconcerting! a yellow wrench light was showing along with some notice about my traction being off, I believe. After sitting a few minutes I was able to move it off the turn lane and into a fairly safe lane ahead. Fortunately a policeman pulled up behind me and I shut off the engine and called aaa for a tow. 20 minutes later, I turned on the engine which now seemed fine so the policeman suggested that I pull forward into a safer area. After doing sotheby's car seemed fine again so I drove it to my daughter's house several miles away and cancelled the tow. I have been researching this issue on line since and this has happened to many Edge owners who have feared for their lives when the same thing happened to them. Some say cleaning or replacing the throttle plate seemed to work but others have found that the dealers insist nothing is wrong after testing it. . . . It seems to have happened too many times for nothing to be done. . . . I think a recall is in order so that the dealerships can find out what the problem is before someone loses their life, if that hasn't already accur. I have a 2011 Ford Edge.
The SUV gave me a blinking engine light. Decoding to a misfire problem. The first time I had the car looked at they replaced the coil packs. About 10,000 miles later I got the same misfire problem. Some of the coil packs were melted. I had the SUV towed to a garage and they said the engine control module is defective. They replaced the control module for $1500. 00. Yikes. Dealer told me that Ford motor company knows the ecm is defective but won't recall so I have to pay for their screw up. Want a refund from Ford.
While driving at 35 mph, my emergency hazards came on by themselves. Will not turn off by touching hazard button, or pulling battery terminal. Took to a mechanic who said my body contol module is faulty, and wont read any codes. Need to take to dealership for faulty bcm.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle's doors fail to automatically lock when the contact begins to drive the vehicle as the vehicle is designed to have the doors automatically lock. The contact stated that the doors would intermittently lock then release the locks, as well. The sensor that indicates whether the doors are locked consistently states that the doors are ajar despite the actual positioning and locking of the doors. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealership (hawk Ford located at 2525 e main st, saint charles, IL 60174 phone number 630-584-1800) who informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the customer satisfaction recall regarding the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. The approximate failure mileage 129,131. Gl.
The front passenger door ajar light randomly comes on and stays on which keeps on the interior lights. Causing passengers to feel u safe as nd making it dangerous to drive at night and nearly impossible to back up. The parking lights come on and off a out of nowhere draining the battery which leaves it dead.
Passenger door latch door closed sensor failed. Requires 30+ closures of the door for the sensor to dim cabin lights and keep doors lockes. When driving down the road if door sensor does not recognize it is closed, will unlock all car doors making it possible for a backseat child to open doors while in motion.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that she experienced several electrical failures with her vehicle. The contact first noticed that the interior lights remained illuminated after turning off the vehicle and closing all the doors. The contact also mentioned that the door ajar warning message remained illuminated on the instrument panel with all four doors being properly closed. Other failures included various warning lights intermittently flashing while driving at various speeds. Additionally, the driver's side window failed to operate as needed. The contact had taken the vehicle to dick smith Ford of columbia (7201 garners ferry rd, columbia, SC 29209) where she was provided an estimate for the repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Center console control stopped working. Climate, radio etc. I was told to pull a grey square plug wire out of box in driver side floor panel. Did so reset radio to am station reset climate control all worked till next trip. All dead agian can repeat keeps going off. Is there a way to reset, or reboot something??.
My Ford Edge 2011 3. 5 6cyl while in motion, stopped running and three new electric modules and 6 cores had been replaced and the unit still doesn't run normal and has a burning smell in the motor. Unit has been for the last 1 month at the authorized Ford dealer and now they want to charge me the catalytic. Almost +2k in bills.
Vehicle was traveling apx 35mph went to depress brake at stop light, brake felt stuck halfway, vehicle did not slow down and then brakes make a high pitch beep sound when fully depressed.
The door ajar light intermittently stays on even when all doors are closed. The light stays illuminated while driving or stationary. It is now causing the car alarm to go off randomly at all hours. This is a safety concern to as the automatic door locking when putting the car in drives does not activate. I have read years of complaints on the Ford owner forums. It's time for Ford to issue a recall to fix the problem. It's obviously the door latch switch which costs $400. 00 to have replaced. Please help. My neighbors are very upset about being woken up at all hours, but I do not have $400. 00 to have the issues fixed. This has been happening on and off for over 2 years, ever since the odometer read over 50,000 miles.
The driver door ajar light remains on even when the door is closed. This keeps the dome lights on which is hazardous to drive with in the evening. I understand this is an ongoing problem for Ford but they have done nothing to fix it.
After years of door ajar issues and replacing the battery multiple time due to the dome lights and headlights coming on randomly because of the door ajar sensor issue, the door started alarming randomly. After this one of the doors (rear right) stopped opening and was permanently locked. After taking it to Ford, the service department exercised the locks and the door operated. One month later while my child was getting into the vehicle (stationary) at school the door failed to close. After using the seat belt extension to tie the door closed, I took the vehicle in to replace the rear right door, except the other three doors continue to have similar issues and now I fear the door opening while driving.
Passanger door latch sensor and rear passanger door latch sensor malfunction both of the latch sensors are not working the doors are closed but the sensors indicate the doors are open, and makes the vehicle not to locked whenever I am driving. I strongly believe this is a safety issue, I am saving money to fix this, but in the time I extremely worry about my kids while I am driving with them, I did some search online and a lot of Ford Edge owners are having the same issue. Thank you for your time.
This car as Ford's I've had in the past is the coolant system it's really bad. I've gotten fan n thermostat put in and it still getting hot.
Door ajar warning always on even when doors are closed. Dome lights remain on and unable to lock or secure the vehicle. Drains battery leaving me stranded. It remains on when the car is on, off, moving, not moving, with or without occupants.
Display screen is black. No radio, sync, climate controls etc. Was told by the local dealer that the a-pim module needed to be replaced. Very expensive. Why did this happen?.
Sitting in a drive thru and car begins to run hot once again due to the cooling fans not kicking on. This is an ongoing problem with this car. I have replaced an entire engine along with the cooling fan module and assembly. Over 2000 in repairs all due to a cooling fan malfunction and is acting like it again.
First of all the first problem I encountered with my vehicle was the passenger wheel barring was defected and started making a bad noise so took it to the shop and the mechanic said lucky I did because is was about to break and cause my wheel to come off going down the road. After that I noticed that my engine would run hot if I sat still in the parking lot just running even with the ac off. I had no warning that anything was wrong. I turned my car off and it didn't seem to do it anymore until we started getting this really hot weather this may, me and my family was going in to town to grab a bite to eat when (without any warning) my car starts sputtering as if I put bad gas in it. My husband instructed me to pull over and take a look and low and behold my car has been running hot just after driving only 10 minutes. He pulled the dipstick and oil is milky and oil was all in the water resivour. My car had over heated without any warning that anything was wrong and blown heat gasket and cracked heads. My engine shot. We took it to the shop where I had to purchase a new engine and after the mechanic ran a diagnostics test on my car he said that the fan control module was faulty which did not allow my cooling fans to come on at all and my system never alerted me either. We replaced cooling fans along with module. Everything seems fine after 2,000 dollars later. Fyi never rely on your information screen to tell you if your running hot, go to settings and keep your screen on the temp gauge at all times so you will know for yourself how cool your engine is running. I would be nice after all the complaints Ford has received about these piece of crap cooling fans that they will just suck it up and do the recall. We are hard working americans and dont deserve this crap. We support Ford an american car manufacturer and expect the same respect!!.
Hazard warning touch button quit working -- touch the button and it doesnt work part is integrated into the sony touch control panel/ screen water pump failure without warning -- destroyed the engine -- started as sporadic overheating that thermostat was replaced aliviated it for a short time then it started over back to the garage -- couldnt find anything -- suggested turn engine off then back on to see if temp sensor was the issue -- stopped again for a while then it happened again -- also cam sensor failure when this occured -- took to garage temp sensor cam sensors and thermostat replaced -- system flushed -- garage started it up -- overheating again -- now engines seized.
Car doors show doors ajar and interior lights stay on and run down the battery. No amount of closing doors using force or with fob seems to work. My 16 year son is about to start driving and my complaint is that he may be stranded if the battery is depleted. Linterior lights stay on all night due to this problem. Lights only go out when car is moving. . .
Back up camera stopped working. Message appears saying " camera unavailable please contact dealer" when placed in reverse.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the door ajar and lift gate warning indicators illuminated when the vehicle was started. The contact stated that the doors were not open when the indicators illuminated. The contact also stated that the backup camera did not work. Additionally, when the gear was in reverse, a noise was heard from the front end of the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to stop before moving again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle was taken to purvis Ford Lincoln (540-898-3000, located at 3660 jefferson davis hwy, fredericksburg, va 22408) where the contact was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
Door ajar warning light appears on the dash even when the door is closed. There is no way to clear the alert/alarm and it becomes very hazardous when driving while it is still dark and the dome lights are on signaling the door is open. This warning will come on at any time- while stationary in my driveway, while driving, etc. There is no specific time it happens.
Door ajar light stays on when door is closed, light will turn on minutes or hours after locked overnight and is draining battery. Light on while driving at night is very distracting and interferes with night vision. Cant lock doors when driving so door could open in a crash. Issue continues.
The "door ajar" indicator continues to be an ongoing problem. I have had it looked at numerous times at the dealer, and they've only "cleaned" the sensor, and let me know it's not a recall item. This is a definite safety concern in that the interior light stays on constantly, and make it very unsafe to drive or have good visibility when backing up. Numerous times I have been in a parking lot at night, the interior light is on (due to the door ajar false indicator) and you can barely see out the windows. I continue backing out of a parking spot and realize there is a pedestrian I just couldn't see due to the interior light staying on. I have also had close calls with pedestrians on a sidewalk/walking by as I am backing out of my driveway at night. The light also continues to stay on even after I've backed up and have now put the car in gear and am moving forward (driving). It seems to go out at about 10-15 mph. But even at that speed with an interior light on, and it is not safe. I can't believe it hasn't been recalled yet. There's no way Ford can claim this is not a safety issue. I have also googled this issue and in addition to this NHTSA website, there are so many complaint sites and blogs about this same issue. It needs to be investigated and looked into further for a recall. Not acceptable, Ford!!!.
Continuous failure of collision warning system that eliminates the use of cruise control. Warning has to be acknowledged and shut off via ok in controls. This occurs at start up.
Notification of door ajar after entering car on driver side. Alert happens 80 % of the time when entering the car from the driver side.
