The door ajar light and shift to park light and warning system are continuously on draining the car battery over and over. I've taken it to Ford for repairs 3 times and relaxed dead batteries and it's still not working right. I have to slam the door for 5 minutes to get the light to go off and the interior lights to go off. I have to toggle the shift gear for a while to get the shift to park wanting to go off and the electrical dashboard to turn off or battery will die again.
Door does not close properly. Door ajar light always goes off even after slamming the door shut. I have had this fixed by a dealership twice and it still doesnt work and the doors wont lock and the battery dies. This happens when shutting the door when statiinary.
Door ajar indicated when door is shut. Dome light stays on, battery dies, door will not lock properly.
Door ajar warning comes on with doors fully shut. Can happen while stationary or moving. Door locks do not actuate when this happens. Has run battery dead 3 times. Vehicle has 49,000 miles and is kept in garage.
Battery drain from something. Car battery will go dead for no reason. I've had to have car jump started 5 times in 3 weeks. No getting battery saver mode is off. Battery will test good with proper voltage. Then it will test at 9 volts. Jump it and it will be fine and charge. Then it will go dead again. Something is draining the battery and Ford has no clue but to say let's put a new battery in. And then the new battery will go dead.
Drivers door latch. Door is closed and door ajar alarm stays on causing battery drain if you don't get it to go off. Battery has went dead 5 times because interior lights won't go if door ajar alarm is on. This also causes door locks not to work. Fords fix is to service the latch with cleaning that lasts only a couple months at $250. 00. To replace latch can be in excess of $500. 00 for a $50. 00 part. A battery can only take going dead so many times. Battery's can cost well over $100. 00 dollars to replace.
Vehicle was in motion when all systems, including power steering stopped during a left turn. Upon inspection, battery was dead. Prior to this, the "door ajar" warning indicator was light, despite the door being latched. Certified Ford service center said that the door was indeed latched, so there was no safety issue there. However, didn't inform that it would drain battery. Occasionally, the vehicle parking headlights would come on, along with dome light when not in operation.
The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. This is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. Is is a safety issue at night and when I park my car and the battery dies.
Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. Dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. Lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. Doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. It is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. Both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. This has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.
Car is stationary. Door ajar sensor is showing the interior light remains on which make it dangerous to back up at night. This also causes the battery to die. Door ajar chime constantly going off every three to five minutes.
Door adjar light stays illuminated even when door is shut. Dome lights stay on causing battery to die. Vehicle chimes while driving causing mild distraction.
"rear left door ajar". Interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time when driving and when it's dark at night this is very distracting and dangerous. The interior dome lights stay on for a significantly varying amount of time after the car is turned off and key is removed. This is draining the battery and going to lead to premature battery failure. Sometimes the car doors won't lock while driving. Sometimes car doors won't lock after exiting car in non-secure areas such as parking lots, etc.
Door ajar light on leaving dome lights on causing battery to die and everytime stop at red light-chimes.
Car dorr ajar message ad dome light on at all times, low electrical power, caused the battery to go bad, latch on door problem, car would not lock, car stationary and you could not lock the door to start car.
Drive's side door ajar warning light constantly display. Interior lights will not dim because car thinks door is open when latch is secure. And door is properly closed. Very dangerous to drive at night because the interior lights do not shit off. I fear it could drain the battery dead when car left in park and off. Numerous simile complaints.
2013 Ford Edge , the door latch switch, not working properly, causing the door ajar light to stay on and also the inside lights, the door ajar alarm sounds , signaling that a door is open when they are clearly all closed, on one instance the battery was dead requiring me to get a jump start. Ford needs to recall, and fix this problem. This is an ongoing problem no matter if you are parked or driving down interstate 95.
Drive's side door ajar warning light constantly displays. Interior lights will not dim because car thinks door is open when latch is secure. In addition, doors cannot be locked. As a woman who travels a lot and gets in her car, alone, often late at night, I do truly believe this to be a terribly safety issue!!! dome lights often remain on even when car is off a no one is in it. I fear it could drain the battery dead when car left in park and off. In addition, I often have difficulties with the car's sync system and the car almost always has exhaust/fuel fumes when traveling above 60 mph. I don't know if all of these issues are related, but with a vehicle so dependant on electrical systems for operation I worry about a life-threatening issue!!!.
The passenger door ajar light stays on along with dome light when door is closed. Caused my battery to die.
I have a front passenger side door ajar light that is on. It came on just after the warranty expired. As time went on, it caused my battery to go dead leaving my wife and daughter stranded. After replacing the battery I did some online research and found that this is unfortunately a very common problem that Ford is unwilling to address. I also determined that I needed to remove the dome light fuse to disable the interior dome lights from staying on and causing another battery failure. Checking with the Ford dealership, I found to repair the would cost me $385. 00, and that the problem has no recall. This condition in my opinion is dangerous, not only does it cause the battery to eventually fail, but if you remove the dome light fuse, it causes the door locks not automatically lock, so you have to manually lock each door and the hatch, because when the key is in the ignition, the door locks won't lock. Also, you have no interior lightning at night when you open the doors, plus you lose the lighting ability on the steering wheel components. This is a definite safety issue that Ford needs to step up and address. Everyone that I have spoken with that has an Edge, has had one of these sensors problems on at least one or multiple doors. I have been told that Ford is more than aware of the problem, but doesn't consider it recall worthy. I really thought more of Ford motor company than this, but I guess I was wrong.
Door ajar warning comes on, even when door is shut. This prevents the doors from locking and they can only be locked manually, the dome lights will never go off and eventually the battery dies, and the ac will only blow cold on 1 setting. It will not blow heat. The keypad will not let the vehicle lock when the warning is on. This happens when the car is moving or stationary, and intermittently. Sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes I have to shut the door 20 times to get it to lock properly with the lights off.
For the second time in less than two years my car is indicating that the driver's side door is open when it is closed. It notifies me constantly using lights and dinging which is very distracting while driving. Every time you turn on the car or step on the accelerator from a stop or slow speed it starts dinging. When backing up it is dinging making it hard to distinguish whether there is an object in the path. It also keeps the dome light from going off which caused the battery to fail which cost $162 to replace. Additionally, the first time I paid $120 to have it fixed at the dealer. 'when the problem recurred I searched the internet and found that it is a very common problem which should be recalled by Ford. A small inexpensive plastic piece which an experienced mechanic should be able to replace in 15 minutes. "when did this happen" and "how fast were you going" does not fit into a single date or speed; this has been ongoing for a couple of years and occurs at all speeds.
The door latch sensor doesn't seem to be working. The door is closed but is says it's not. I can not lock the doors and my overhead lights stay on and the battery will die. I've taken it into the dealership before and they say the sensors are dirty and they cleaned them, but it didn't fix the problem. It happens at all times (stationary or moving).
Door ajar light remains on when door is shut and interior lights stay on. In addition, each time you stop and resume driving the chimes ding which distract driver. If you do not notice interior lights are on when you lock your car, battery will be dead when you return. In addition to a increased possibility of a motor vehicle accident this defect also subjects you to being victim of a crime when you return to a stranded vehicle and have to wait for assistance to arrive.
Driver side door indicator stays on even though door is shut. Dome light won't go off and doors won't lock. Battery went dead. I have to slam door hard several times to get indicator and light to turn off and doors to lock.
The drivers door ajar light stays on 90% of the time while driving down the road. When you shut the vehicle off and even if you remove the keys the lights all remain on as if you had the doors open and run the battery dead, only shows drivers door, all other door sensors are fine! I am an avid Ford owner but I see so many others having the same issue, I hope to see a recall to fix this problem or our next vehicle might not be a Ford!.
