Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While depressing the brake pedal, an airy hissing noise was present and the brake pedal extended to the floorboard. On one occasion, the engine stalled and a message displayed, indicating that not enough air had entered the engine. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. An unknown dealer was notified and did not assist. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 59,600.
Engine suddenly stalls while driving. Yellow wrench light comes on and there is no power when applying accelerator. Has happened while on highway (approx 70 mph) and surface streets (approx 30 mph). Pull over to the side of the road and turn off the engine. The restart was sputtery but came on and no more wrench light, the vehicle ran as if nothing happened. After taking it to a dealership was told problem could not be duplicated and no fix could be made.
Vehicle was driving straight at approximately 50 mph. Yellow wrench icon came on, and engine power was lost. Coasted out of traffic and into parking lot. Turned car off and back on, and vehicle ran normally with no error lights. Turned car off and back on and drove approximately 15 miles with no recurrence. Due to the safety concerns of having the engine stall again at highway speeds or with children in the car, took car to dealership. Dealership stated no error codes were stored, and recommends replacing throttle body for $700+ based on their history with similar situations.
