1 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2026

Brake pedal felt mushy, took vehicle to repair shop and had master cylinder replaced. Problem persisted so took vehicle to a different repair shop and had brake booster replaced. Pedal felt firmer but then a hissing sound could be heard while driving without using brakes. Had brake booster replaced again as well as the vacuum hose connected to booster. Now pedal goes all the way the floor requiring excessive pressure to stop vehicle and a high pitched hissing sound is heard when applying pressure to brake pedal. Hissing sound still present while car in motion without touching brakes. Vehicle had to be put into neutral to stop. Backing out of driveway, vehicle continues to roll slightly even when pedal pushed to floor. Mo warning lights have ever come on and brake fluid reservoir needs frequent additions of fluid.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2026

In busy traffic brake pedal went all the way to floor almost causing me to hit vehicle in front of me. Vehicle was towed to my mechanic at which time he informed me this is an ongoing issue with Ford and is recall issue. I have contacted my local Ford dealer as well as Ford motor company and filed a claim. Vehicle has not been repaired. I hope sooner than later Ford will acknowledge this ongoing issue as this is a very catastrophic loss!!.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

Ford has the abs valve on back order for over 700 vehicles with no delivery date in sight. The vehicles are worthless at this point because they can’t be fixed or driven safely.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2025

I am an automotive service technology teacher, retired. The abs system on this vehicle failed without warning and without any trouble codes. No lights, no codes. The pedal sinks nearly to the floor, but does engage the brakes once the abs chambers fill with fluid. But, by the time brakes begin to engage, one's heart skips a beat and it actually takes 1/2 second longer for the brakes to actually work. If not for my tall stature, I might not be able to reach the distance it takes to get hydraulic pressure. Brakes work, but marginally due to interference with floor. My research indicates this is a relatively common problem with these vehicles. Folks need to be warned! a recall is in order; at the very least a service bulletin and a customer notification. I'll fix it, but I shouldn't need to. I'll save the old unit and ship it if anybody wants to inspect it.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2025

I purchased my 2014 Ford Edge in December 2023. March 2023, I started having issues with the driver side door lock sensor malfunction as shown in the last photo. The door would not automatically lock when I started driving, sensing that the driver’s side door was still open. It was not. I kept pushing the lock button to lock it, but it kept unlocking even while driving. Eventually it would lock. The cost to fix that was around $600 which I could not afford, and my limited warranty expired. July/August 2025 my abs and traction control sensor lights were lit on my dash. I took the car for service and my very reputable mechanic diagnosed with no codes showing up a few times. Performed a reset twice and the lights came back on after only driving a couple of miles. He contacted Ford who advised he couldn't sell the part because there was a "national hold" on the part. On 9/2 my brakes and traction control failed resulting me rear ending another vehicle. The other safety issue is that my airbags did not deploy upon the collision. I contacted Ford corporation and was advised that Ford will not do anything since my vehicle was older than 10 years. The vehicle is a total loss leaving me with a loan balance of approximately $4,700. 00. This is neither fair nor right for a multimillion-dollar company that will not or choose not to address or acknowledge their responsibility regarding these two very serious safety issues. Since I didn’t die or get seriously hurt, I guess it’s not that big a deal to Ford.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2025

My vehicle started having a "spongy" pedal feel when I pushed on my brakes going to work and returning home. I was going to be taking my grandchildren to branson, mo, on Thursday morning, [xxx], and was able to get marvin merritt, mechanic, to look at my vehicle before leaving to make sure we would be okay traveling. Marvin notified me that my brake booster needed replace and it was not safe to travel. I made other arrangements to go to branson. When I got back I paid marvin for services rendered and got my letter from the Ford motor company dated March 2024. I took my letter, the invoice from marvin merritt and turned it into friendly Ford dealership / service man, derrick and he filed a claim for me and said he did not see any reason why they would deny my claim based on the information I turned in. I waited 4 week, calling weekly for updates, before being told my claim was being denied. Derrick gave me the following number to call 1-800-392-3673 and they stated they would not honor the warrenty because it was not fixed at a Ford dealership. I asked for an email or mailing address so I could send my information to them and was denied. She stated she would give me a claim number which was case # [xxx]. And I shared the following information on the phone. 1. “I received Ford’s March 2024 letter stating that if my vehicle had exceeded 150,000 miles, coverage would continue through November 30, 2025. My vehicle had exceeded that mileage, so I relied on this written coverage. ” 2. “I had the brake booster repaired on July 11, 2025—well within the coverage period Ford outlined. Despite this, my claim was denied. ” 3. “I am requesting Ford to honor its written commitment and reimburse the cost of my repair. Given that this matter involves a brake system safety issue, I trust Ford will resolve this promptly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Failure Date: 03/16/2025

The brake booster continues to fail. I replaced this part for the second time 6 months ago, the first time was roughly 9 months before that. When on the freeway at about 60-65 mph, car will start to lose power and shake until you hit the brakes really hard 2 or 3 times, no accident yet but if not fixed, it will happen. Brake pedal goes down to the floor will sitting at a red light or at a stop light.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2024

Brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor to be able to break. Dealership changed brake booster to solve the problem. It was replaced but it’s still doing the same thing. Next recommendation was to change the brake master cylinder. It was also replacement but still having the same issue. Now the dealership is recommending to change the hcu (hydraulic control unit). I did some research that some Ford vehicles is under a recall about hcu’s. But not specifically for 2014 Ford Edge. I am reaching out to get this looked over and consider this part of Ford Edge recall as well. Thank you.

23 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2023

I own a 2014 Ford Edge, when pressing on the brake pedal, it goes all the way to the floor and have to pump the brakes to make sure I don't hit the car a head of me. 5 minutes later it is back to normal. Or when stopped at a red light the brake pedal will all of a sudden go down to the floor. And now when I brake I get a high pitched wind squealing noise. Also the back driver side passenger door will have a door ajar warning on the dash and that comes and goes and could be dangerous for any passenger sitting in that seat.

24 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

Aug. 2023 mileage 89,000 - 2014 Ford Edge sel fwd - program 13n02 eligible??? most critical issue: while driving in highway commuter traffic, traffic came to abrupt stop going 65 miles an hour; I depressed brakes almost completely to the floor but car would not stop. Was able to get pulled onto shoulder and get stopped. I sat and slowly pumped the brakes and the pressure on the brakes finally returned. I'm told brake cylinder replacement only will not solve the issue. There aren't any warning lights, brake fluid is normal level, brake pads and rotors in good shape. So there is no reasonable explanation for what happened other than Ford sold me car with faulty brakes. I see no recalls after 2010. Ford needs to replace my brake booster, master cylinder and the hcu at Ford expense. Brake pedal and noise while braking - screeching sounds. I took it to a local dealer for analysis, they pressed on the brake several times, and replicated the squeal. Was told it was the brake booster, that there had been issues with it in several of the Ford models. Ford needs to also replace master cylinder and the hcu to ensure this doesn't happen again. I thought I was going to die on the freeway when brakes pressed to floorboard would not stop the car. Thousands of historical issues with other Ford Edge: brake pedal sinks to floor NHTSA complaint 11343191 will urgently await Ford response - I only have this one vehicle and need resolved before I loose my life in the vehicle. Thank you in advance for you immediate reply. Susan.

25 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2023

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph and making a right turn, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated the vehicle failed to slow as needed. The contact steered the vehicle off the roadway and used the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The contact shifted into park (p) and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times to regain braking functionality. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. Additionally, the vehicle lost braking functionality after driving over a bump or a dip in the road surface. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the brake master cylinder and brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

26 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2023

Brakes press down to the floor and a weird sound when braking.

27 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2023

I bought this vehicle brand now. The Edge only has 69k miles on it and I have replaced the front and back brakes (rotors, pads, calibers) 3 times (yes. . . 3 times). I also had to recently (in 2023) replace the muffler, left and right outer tierods, left and right front wheel bearings and hubs. Now: April 2023: my front brakes are pulsating and I brought the vehicle back to my mechanic for a complete vehicle check overall which the mechanic documented: power steering return line is rotted (cost $175). A/c condenser is leaking and needs to be replaced/recharged (cost $1050). Driveshaft issue/vibration @ 50 mph: need to remove the rear driveshaft and inspect: if needs to be replaced: $4500. Replace front and read brake pads/rotors/calibers ($1600). . . Which would be #4 for replacement. Replacement of right rear parking brake cable ($205). ***I previously wrote a complaint several years ago (for the same VIN#). . . This is just an update and I am requesting Ford to review and demand a recall. The 2014 Edge has been a money pit for me and it only has 69k in mileage. If there was a way I could seek reimbursement I would. I will never buy a Ford again.

28 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2023

This vehicle has a well-documented problem with the abs hydraulic control module. There are hundreds of cases found on the internet where the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. Nhtsa appears to have confirmed this problem in the model year 2015 and 2016 vehicles, but not the 2014 or other years. This is an incredibly dangerous defect that must be addressed.

29 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2022

Multiple time the brake pedal has gone to the floor. Pumping them will provide minimal braking power. Took to a Ford dealer ship and they claim the brakes are fine. Charged $160. The brake pedal still goes to the floor periodically.

30 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2022

The hydraulic control on the braking system went out. The total cost of repair is $1828. The garage I took it to says he has had several come in with the same problem. Ford motor company did a recall in 2019 on three of their models from 2006-2010 because of a defect in the same part. I believe the Ford Edge needs to be recalled for the same reason.

31 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/30/2022

2014 Ford Edge was purchased in 5/2015 with 6k miles on it. It was a leftover from 2014. There have been constant brake pulsating issues (details below) from the day it was purchased. Rotors have been cut down or replaced every year since the car was purchased. New brake pads have also been required just about every year. The hcu was replaced in 6/2021, which the Ford dealership admitted was an issue they were seeing with many models however there was no recall ever done. The most recent is an issue with the brake booster, which has been confirmed by the dealership. The car is currently at the Ford dealership. When applying the brakes, the pedal is spongy, and a pulsating is felt in the pedal. This is felt at all speeds but becomes a safety issue at speeds over 30. Braking becomes very hard, and this causes the rotors to heat up and could potentially cause a fatality. Ford recalled 2010-2013 models back in 2014 but only for certain VIN numbers. However, there are customer complaints dating back to 2007. The braking systems on 2007-2014 Ford Edges need to be looked into or there could loss of life.

32 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2022

99800 miles on vehicle. Brake pedal went to the floor on 10/27/2022. Serviced at dealership sept. 2022. At dealership, confirmed that hydraulic control unit was bad. Had another vehicle in repair with same problem. Recall issued on this issue but didn't cover my vehicle. No advance warning on screen. Internet list many complaints by Edge owners, especially 2011 and 2013. This should be a recall problem and not cost the $1759 that I will have to pay out of pocket.

33 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2022

I was driving my Ford Edge at approximately 35 mph. As I approached a stoplight, I depressed the brake pedal and it immediately went all the way to the floor with almost no braking action. I was able to get some braking by pumping the brakes continually, avoiding an accident at the light. As a local pep boys store had replaced the brake pads about 5 weeks earlier, I chose to slowly and carefully drive the car to their location. The brakes continued to require pumping for any braking action. At pep boys, I turned off the vehicle and went inside. They phoned me a few hours later to say that they found that the brakes worked fine. They found no fluid leaks, the master cylinder was full, and they could not duplicate any problem. . Read more...

34 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2022

1. Brakes failed, vehicle available upon request. 2. I avoided hitting the car in front of me and I was ok but I put myself and others at great risk driving my car as the brakes continue to fail intermittently. 3. Problem was reproduced. 4. I paid for 2 diagnosis and they are as follows; a) replace brake booster and master cylinder b) abs module, this mechanic told me he replaced the booster and master in a 2013 Edge to no avail and has now been waiting 2 months on the abs module, driver has no vehicle. He also has 1 other 2013 Edge with the same problem. 5. There was no warning indicators.

35 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2022

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics who diagnosed that the abs and brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
