The contact owns a 2016 Ford Edge. The contact stated a warning light illuminated on the vehicle for the adaptive steering, and the steering wheel was not straight. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer who replaced the entire steering wheel with an adaptive motor to fix the issue under a courtesy satisfaction recall by the manufacturer. However, the warning light remained illuminated. The contact then took the vehicle to gordie boucher Ford Lincoln of janesville (2727 us-14, janesville, WI 53545, (608) 754-5511) who inspected the vehicle and was able to diagnose the failure as a faulty steering column module that needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,384.
Adaptive steering fault, steering would not register input when fault occur. On start up the car would register the error and make steering difficult with steering input not register to the turning of the wheels. The steering column also makes a grinding noise. Dealer just cleared the error and did not fix anything, with the error returning the next day.
