Air Bag problem #1

The contact owns a 2022 Ford escape. The contact stated that while entering an onramp at 40 mph, the vehicle in front of her vehicle came to an abrupt stop, and the contact crashed into the vehicle. The contact stated that only the front driver side knee air bags deployed upon impact. The contact was taken to the hospital by ambulance and was treated for pain in her chest as well as an injury to her left carotid artery. Due to the severity of her injury, the contact was transported to another hospital, where several tests, including a CT scan, ekg, ultrasound, and x-rays, were performed. The contact remained in the hospital overnight and was given medication for her injuries. A police report was filed. The other driver did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home, where an insurance adjuster inspected the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000.

Air Bag problem #2

Airbag system failure warning - dealer is unable to diagnose the Ford pass app alerted me that my airbag system was not functioning and instructed me to not drive the vehicle and to have it towed to a dealership. This too me seemed like a very serious alert. I immediately called the dealer and brought the vehicle in to have it looked at. During the call the dealership technician confirmed for me that the problem had persisted for a couple of days prior and was concerned that I just found out about it. Naturally the day I took it in the light went off. The technician looked at it for over a day and ultimately said they could not determine the cause. They then advised me to continue driving the vehicle and only return when the warning appears again. I called Ford to get their take on this problem and to ask for help, and I got the same response, that there is nothing that the dealer can do unless the light is actively on. This contradicts Fords own safety warning and leaves me driving a vehicle that may have a non-functional airbag system. I am reporting this because it appears to be a potential safety defect, and the dealership was unable to repair it. I am not sure if this is a defect of the airbag system itself, or the system that monitors the safety of the vehicle. If there is a couple days of specific warnings that Ford and the dealer has access too, I wouldn't think that they would need the light to be actively on for diagnosis. I have attached a screenshot the warning in the Ford pass app, however it will no longer let me view details that I had before, just the occurrence and warning name.

Air Bag problem #3

Swerved to miss deer and ended in a ditch and all the airbags deployed except for the steering wheel airbag.

Air Bag problem #4

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving across an intersection, a work vehicle ran across the intersection. As a result, the contact's vehicle t-boned the work vehicle, which came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. It was unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the impact crushed the metal on the driver's side, which caused the driver's side door not to open. The contact exited the vehicle from the front passenger-side door. The police were called to the scene. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The contact sustained injuries to the right shoulder and right hip. The contact was taken to the hospital by a family member later in the day. The doctor diagnosed that the contact had sustained a slap tear on the right shoulder and a slight tear on the right hip. The contact underwent surgery on the right shoulder. The vehicle was towed to a collision center, where it was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving in the snow, the vehicle slid on black ice and hit a tree, where it came to a stop. The front driver's side air bag and the front passenger side air bag did not deploy. The passenger-side mirror was damaged, and the vehicle had scratches on the passenger side. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. It was unknown if any warning lights were illuminated. The insurance company was contacted. The insurance company was waiting for the report from the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Air Bag problem #5

The car was in a front end collision; the airbags did not deploy. Insurance said the car was reparable and fixed it; car was picked up from body shop on 07/19/2024. In may 2025, at only 3 years old, the transmission went out at 95,000 miles and was just replaced. Ford would not admit the accident had anything to do with the transmission going out on a 3 year old car. I was quoted almost $10,000 to replace it, but Ford "helped" and paid $4000 and I was left with the balance of $6200.

Air Bag problem #6

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated while her son was driving approximately 40 mph, another vehicle turned into his lane and he attempted to apply on the brake pedal but still crashed into the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact also stated the sos system did not function either. The driver sustained injuries on his head, back, right wrist, left elbow and left knee. The driver sought medical attention at the emergency room. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed first to a towing lot and then to a collision shop. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
