Battery light stayed on during a 4. 5 hour trip. After reaching the end of the trip, the battery cables were found to be corroded. Noticed theterminal protector has melted. Used distilled water to fill the acid level in the battery, some was spilled on the positive battery cable connection(from battery to power of underhood fuse box), it sizzled from being hot! after filling the battery, the batt. Light stayed off for another 3 hours of trip, and lit up again. Had the battery tested, battery was found to be defective. R&r the battery, battery light is on again. No driveability issues, just concerned about, what is causing resistance in electrical charging system, and possible "fire"!.
