38 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/12/2025

The apim has a known software issue that blanks out the main display and control screen. While not a safety issue for the radio. It does eliminate the climate control system. It makes it impossible to turn on, adjust or turn off defrosters. So if windows start to fog there is no control. The results are attempting to navigate to the side of the road. Secondly this is draining the battery shutting down systems. Ford is aware of the issue and tells dealers they hope a software update in first quarter 2025. This is an over the air software update that will not be able to be downloaded due to system shut downs.

41 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/03/2025

2 years ago car started losing power so took to garage for tune up. Changed spark plugs. They said that I needed one of the coils changed as well. Costly job. This did not fix the issue. Took to another shop who said that the computer needed to be changed because computer was burning out the coil. Have picture of burned coil. Again, this time replaced computer and coils ( all 6 coils. $2000 fix. Almost year later again same issue. Go back to same garage, covered in warranty. Explains to me that this is something Ford is aware of and has done nothing about. Boards are shorting out coils. They replaced computer again and charged me to install. This time is lasted only 6 months. My car only has 121,000 miles on it. I should not have replaced computer 3 times in 2 years. Tell me that this is right? I cannot drive the car at all because this will cause the engine to crack. The car needs to be towed each time. Loss of power can cause accident. Scary.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/02/2025

For last 3+ years rear reverse camera remains blank and screen becomes unresponsive unable to use steering wheel buttons to change radio station or volume. Can get working again by performing a system reset (press seek and volume knob) took to Ford dealer for the camera recall 20c19 when recall first came out. As parts were not available, dealer stated they could not apply fix due to work schedule, finally able to reschedule in Dec 2024. After fix had been applied, reverse camera continues to stay blank and inoperable. Took back to Ford dealership. Dealership stated this was not under the recall as it is caused by a bad apim module. Warranty had expired by this time so that did not cover this either. The end failure symptom is the same as the recall but not caused by the same component therefore is not covered. Cost to replace is >$1000 so not affordable to repair. Had a few close accidents caused by the lack of reverse camera function. Vehicle is available for inspection. If the end failure is the same as that caused lack of safety requiring a recall, why would the apim module also not be replaced under recall?.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/29/2024

While our vehicle hasnt been in an accident yet, the issue could possibly lead into one. Our vehicle is having transmission problems. Ford knows there is an issue with the trans. I have called them an spoke to someone but I forget his name. The issue is the computer needs flashed and updated with new shifting points. At low speeds or if your barely on the gas, the trans bucks, sputters and has issues driving smooth. Our vehicle only has 85k miles on it, the issue started about 5k miles ago. I have asked the people of reddit on the issue. Many people responded saying they have gotten theres fixed or the trans goes out. Seems like its a very expensive (to me) fix and I feel as though that since it is a known issue that Ford should be the one paying to flash and update shift points on there products. Its bad enough we pay an avg of 600 a month for our vehicles. Now why cant they make it rite and fix a known issue. I dont know if you guys can help push the issue and see about getting this taken care of. All help is appreciated.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/20/2024

Vehicle started making a repetitive "rubbing" noise and I smelled something burning, but unlike burnt rubber, it was a burning smell I've never encountered before. I was going about 35mph at the time this began. Within about 500ft, I slowed down as I approached an intersection and the vehicle stalled just as I was entering the intersection. There were no warning lights. I put it in park and attempted to restart it a couple times with no luck, then the third time I pressed and held the button, and it took about 4 seconds to start (seemed to struggle). On another occasion, I had just filled up my tank at a gas station, started my car, drove about 10 feet, then the car stalled. This time it restarted without issue. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem, they were willing to try again after I explained that recall 20s49 sounded similar to the problem I was having, but I didn't end up leaving my car with them because of the cost of the diagnosis and loaner car. I believe my VIN should have been recalled, as there is clearly something wrong, but since it is not in the system as a recall and I don't have the money to troubleshoot it, I am planning to sell the car to Ford, as I cannot, in good conscience, sell to a private buyer when I believe the vehicle may stall. I figure if I sell to Ford, it puts the liability of the defect back in their hands, where it belongs.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/01/2024

1) my rear view camera is disoriented when car is in reverse. Sometimes the picture on the screen is upside down or doesnt show anything at all. 2) drivers seat belt does not clip in correctly. I have to push the red button in for the seat belt to clip into place.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/21/2024

The contact's father owns a 2014 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while he was driving at approximately 65 mph, the "door open" alarm and chime was sounding, indicating that the driver's side door was open. The contact observed that the driver's side door was closed. The contact pulled off the highway, stopped the vehicle, and turned off and restarted the vehicle several times and the alarm turned off. The contact stated that her father related that the failure was recurring and additionally, the door locks were unlocking independently, and that the driver's side door keypad was constantly illuminated, causing the battery to be drained. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/15/2024

In June of 2022, the vehicle was exhibiting symptoms of hard to start especially after refueling, stalling, and poor drivability and the check engine light was illuminated. This vehicle was taken to local Ford dealer (dowling Ford- cheshire, CT) and diagnosed as a faulty fuel vapor separator (aka purge valve/solenoid) Ford part # f2gz-9d289-a. The dealer performed diagnosis/repair/replacement of this part at a total cost of approximately $600. The problem appeared to have been fixed, but now on 10/15/2024 the same issue re-appeared, and once again the dealer has determined same part has failed and now will cost $729 for diag/repair/replacement. This repair is just outside of the 2 year parts and labor warranty provided by Ford and/or dealer. According to my online research this is a well known and common problem with these vehicles as well as many other similar Ford vehicles which a recall has been issued for, and driver/occupant safety is gravely affected because this issue can cause stalling, poor throttle response, inability to start, and general poor driveability which seriously affects safety and cause a crash or cause driver to be unable to avoid a crash or other danger. Ford motor CO and Ford dealer refuses to accept responsibility for this issue and will not offer any assistance for repair. As of 10/29/24 the vehicle has not been repaired yet, and vehicle and parts are available for inspection.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

The back up camera quit working about 6 months ago for a short time. Then it worked for about a week then stopped working completely. I had a message on the screen stating to bring it to the dealership. At that point the backup sensors were still working. Until about a week ago they quit completely. Now I get a warning to check the sensors but there is nothing stuck in or on the sensors. Now the entire back up system and sensors no longer work at all.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/01/2024

I currently have an few issues to report. When I press on the brakes, they make an air whistling sound and there’s nothing noticeably wrong with them. I’m also having problems with electrical on my screen and it won’t always connect with my phone and it also delays on the screen when it’s powering on or off. My tires have been leaking air since I purchased my vehicleand when I took it in, they said Ford mechanics said they sealed the valves but right when I got it back, it gave me a warning that I had low air pressure in my tires once again and my vehicle tires appeared like they were still low on air. I constantly have to fill them with air when I drive it. Every day they leak. But my biggest concern is the electrical and the brakes. I don’t know the exact date on when the electrical started acting up. I’m also curious if there’s been a recall on anything to do with the defrost on the windows because my windows do not defrost very well in our cold climate. I’m also wondering about the headlights. They seem like they’re not bright enough we’re just strange because they’re clear and there’s nothing obstructing them that’s noticeable. For safety I believe they should be a lot brighter than they are. I have not been in any car accidents and no one hit my vehicle.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/16/2024

I'm not sure if it's electrical or the transmission. My car is not going on parking gear. The car don't start abs the shifter is not moving. My car shifter was on parking gear, but on the dash it's not showing it's on parking. My safety concern is that the car rolls (moves) even though the car is off , no keys in the ignition. It's on parking but on the dash it's not displaying thr it's on parking gear. I need to apply the emergency breaks to keep the car from rolling ( moving) if the emergency breaks goes off the vehicle is going to roll causing to crash. I removed the cover to see if there was something causing the shifter from not moving. Then I took it to the nearest auto repair. I explained the issue and concern. They state the the shifter cable needs to be replaced. I took my vehicle to a mechanic for a second opinion he said it not the shifter cable. I never had this problem until recently. There was no warning it just didn't want to start. Now it is not go on parking gear. And it only starts un nneutraland to turned it off . I have to put it on reverse gear in order to retrieve my keys. And the emergency break must be on if not the car will roll.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

If you hit a pot hole or a bump on the road the brake pedal makes a weird sound and then the brake goes all the way to the floorboard when trying to apply brakes and doesn't come to an immediate stop. The wrench light has come on or the symbol that has the car and wavy lines for traction control will turn on all of a sudden and then the car shuts off in the middle of the road while driving putting my life in danger. It also doesn't accelerate all of a sudden and loses power while driving putting my life in danger. When you put the car in park the car still jerks forward even after the car is in park and off. It also makes a clicking sound as if it goes into gear after you have turned the car off and park has been engaged. The headlights keep shutting off while driving or dimming in their own. The motormount screws came undone and I had to get it repaired. The power steering keeps losing the fluid and makes a loud grinding noise especially during cold weather. Makes a loud whistle sound like a turbo jet engine when it's cold and you start driving. The rear driverside door latch keeps making the car alert that the door is open when it is not. The recall only shows door latch for a different door and dealership won't repair with recall notice because the notice doesn't say all door latches and is specific to a different door. The car is unsafe to drive but it's the only car I have and the last time I took it to get repairs they kept it for a month and my it off pocket costs were close to $1600 dollars which put me in a financial strain. I can not afford to be without my car for that long again and pay for things that shouldn't be falling apart and putting my child's and my life in danger.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/01/2024

In 2020, I paid a local Ford dealership to replace my back up camera on my 2014 Ford Edge sel. The camera had failed and gave the " camera not available" to driver. Worked until July of 2024. In July, the new camera failed. The camera "inverted" the image the driver sees. This makes it impossible to use the camera safely for backing up or hazard during back up. I feel this is a critical safety issue, causing disorientation of the driver while backing up. A call to the Ford dealer got the reply " your vehicle is not covered under any Ford recall to date. The back-up camera has failed, and we can replace it at your cost".

66 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/05/2024

Backup camera not working properly. Unsure if this falls under any recall headings for safety. I’ve seen many recalls on newer backup cameras but none on this year model. Was displaying upside down or with green lines across the screen and now just completely unavailable. Has not been diagnosed by Ford and will not be diagnosed by Ford out of my pocket. Can’t afford it. But it is available for inspection. I did clean some corrosion off of some wiring harness connections to no avail. Please advise.

The rearview camera does not function properly. Most of the time, it shows a blank screen or nothing at all. Sometimes it tells me to contact the dealership. Other times, it shows the camera view but upside down. It puts myself and others at risk because I can't see clearly when I am backing up. The problem is covered by a known recall. However, my vehicle is not covered by the recall.
