Front Seat Power Adjust Problems of Ford Edge

Power seat assembly is broken and it looks to be a common problem and it needs addressed ASAP before someone get killed. In my search of this problem, I found it was a very common problem and a very expensive fix all the while Ford knowing about it, but not fixing the weak problems causing this. This is 100% a safety factor for everyone on the roadways and it needs addressed now before it becomes a statistic with injuries or worse gravestones. The part at first glance and educated guess is to be the motor drive gears or what Ford is calling "rails". They expect you to purchase the whole "seat adjuster" bt4z-7861711-d for what is 100% a road safety hazard.

When lowering the drivers power seat the mechanism clicks loudly the whole time lowering. When coming to a stop the seat juts forward. When accelerating from a stop the seat juts backwards making it difficult to control gas and brake pedal. .

The seat first started rocking a bit. Then this evening I get in the vehicle and it sinks to the floor and sounds like it has stripped gears. It has a power seat and it will not move it.

Passenger door ajar light comes on when door is shut. The doors will not stay locked because of this. Unsafe to stop at light or parking as anyone can open the passenger door and get in. Driver side door ajar fixed under extended warranty yrs ago- same issue now again. Driver power seat rocks backwards when getting in or if solid stops- very unsafe as you are not in control of car when it's rocking- fearful that it will brake loose. Quote from dealer was $1600! I paid extra when buying car for leather and power seats- they should not break and should be covered by Ford.

2010 Edge bought new. Power driver seat started rocking and was getting worse when I took it to dealership where I bought it and was told that there were two rivets that were bad. I was told that at some point they would fail and it would be a safety issue so I had it repaired for $1084. Turns out it is a known problem. I've been buying Fords since 1994 but I'm feeling kinda stupid now.
