The contact owns a 2008 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver's side wheel hub fractured, and the wheel detached. The driver was able to veer to the side of the road, where the vehicle remained. The contact stated that the failure had previously occurred with the front driver's side wheel hub, and all four of the service wheel hub spindles had been replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 229,703.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while turning the steering wheel in either direction, a clunking noise was coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the front driver’s and passenger’s side axle, cv joint, and wheel hub assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure had reoccurred. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
