1 Wheel Rim problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/01/2025

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the rear passenger's side tire became flat, and the front passenger's side tire lost a significant amount of air pressure. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where all four tires were replaced with brand new tires; however, the failure recurred a week later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the deflated tires were resealed; however, the failure recurred a month later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rims were corroded. The dealer cleaned the corroded rims and resealed the tires; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the rims and the seal on the rims were defective, causing the tires to deflate. The dealer informed the contact that several other Ford vehicles of the same model were experiencing the rim failure. The contact was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and denied assistance due to the age of the vehicle; however, the dealer advised the contact that the failure was a factory defect and was not related to the age of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.

2 Wheel Rim problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the rear passenger side rims fractured without warning. The failure also occurred on the front passenger side rim. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who replaced the rear passenger rim. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

3 Wheel Rim problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/21/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Edge. When the contact pulled into his driveway, the tire pressure light illuminated. While checking the tire, the rim split in half. The dealer stated that the failure was caused by metal fatigue and they could warranty one rim, but not both. The current mileage was 20,500 and failure mileage was 20,450.
