Failure Date: 06/07/2020

Driving on us highway 27, 65 mph at night. Car just stopped dead on the road, no warning, plenty of gas. I could have been killed! had it towed to Ford dealer was told it was the fuel pump. I searched the internet and found for my year, make and model a recall for the fuel pump. But, according to my VIN my vehicle isn't covered. How is this possible since its the same problem on the same vehicles?.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fuel. The vehicle was taken to raymond Chevrolet (118 IL-173, antioch, IL 60002, (800) 989-5939) where they stated there was a lifetime warranty on the fuel pump module, filler hole, and fuel tank, which were replaced. After the repair, the fuel gauge failed to provide accurate readings. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, which resulted in a dispute about whether or not the fuel gauge indicator was damaged by the mechanic. The dealer threatened to charge the contact for the repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 220,000.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/10/2018

When driving my vehicle, the rpms sky rocket but won't change. It's not shifting gears as an automatic is supposed to. Also, the engine has been making a weird noise on and off and when we took it in, they turned it on and pressed the gas and said it was fine. Never had it on record or anything. The fuel pump went out about 23k and now the car is having the same issue at 50k with the fuel pump or the same symptoms as it did before having the car lunge forward or vibrate.

8 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/09/2017

Raw fuel odor when driving and stopping the car. Fuel leak, starting problems and fuel pump issue. Car was not repaired or replaced upon request, pat milliken Ford refused to work on car even though we were in immediate danger of a catastrophic problem. Pat milliken Ford was not authorized by Ford motor company to remove fuel tank and fix fuel pump until they proved there was a problem, even though we took 25 videos over a 3 month period as evidence. For 3 months of payments, insurance and fear of the risk of fire while driving, Ford motor and pat milliken refused to repair the car after more than 5 visits, numerous conversations with Ford motor customer service and pat milliken Ford. The smell of raw gas, and the long grind delayed start existed when car was idle after traveling local streets and highways. .

9 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/19/2016

The car wouldn't start. Seemed to be a fuel issue. Had it towed to the dealer. The service people tell us that the fuel pump has apparently been failing intermittently and overheated - melting the electrical connector. The fuel pump and electrical connector and labor will cost $1,078. It seems to us that this is a dangerous situation and, from what we hear from mechanics, is a known issue with the Ford Edge. However, only the 2014 model year has been recalled for fuel pump issues. . .

10 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

I am the owner of a 2007 Ford Edge se. We recently smelled gas coming from the driver's side of the vehicle. The car was taken to a Ford dealership to have the problem diagnosed. The Ford dealership explained that there was a hole in the gas tank due to corrosion and would need a new gas tank and fuel pump that would cost approximately $1,800 to $2,500 to fix. The dealership refused to complete the work without payment since no recall has been given for the 2007 Edge. We were left with the options of paying for a new gas tank and fuel pump or calling Ford to complain. Another mechanic explained to us that the gas tank is a design default by Ford and no damage was done to the tank by us.

11 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/17/2013

In view of all the cars being recalled for failure of what would appear to be relatively simple devices, it occurs to me that I should report this incident, in case there have been other reports of the same problem. While driving in light traffic on a four-lane divided city street in atlanta, GA, on 3/17/13, a Sunday afternoon, without warning of any kind, the engine suddenly stopped. Of course, I had no power or power steering, but fortunately I was able to get the car over to the shoulder safely (fortunately there was a shoulder). The Ford emergency road service sent a tow truck, which towed the car to the nearest Ford dealer. The next day the dealer's service dept. Found that the fuel sender had become detached from the fuel pump. Of course, without fuel, the engine stopped. They re-attached the sender, and I have had no further problem. Everything was handled promptly and properly by Ford. There was no charge, of course, as the vehicle was still under warranty. However, had this failure occurred just five minutes earlier, I was in the inside lane of a busy interstate highway (I-285) going 70 mph. I can't imagine how I would have been able to navigate the car to safety across four lanes of traffic with no power - or else stop in the inside lane I was in and pray I didn't get hit before the tow truck came. A simple solution to a potentially deadly problem. I doubt that any routine testing or maintenance would have revealed this potential detachment. It would appear that there is a potential flaw in the way these vitally important parts are attached. It seems to me that this potential bears investigation by the fhtsa. John w. Gay.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

When attempting to accelerate after turning onto a state highway, the vehicle would not accelerate. It took 1-2 minutes to accelerate to 30 mph and the vehicle would not reach speeds above 30 mph. This was extremely dangerous as I was in traffic going 60-70 mph. The dealership replaced the high pressure fuel pump and the problem was repaired until the condition reappeared in August of 2014. The conditions were similar circumstances as the first failure. As I was pulling into traffic, the vehicle would not accelerate and took several minutes to get to 30-35 mph. The vehicle would not reach speeds above 30-35 mph and several cars had to swerve into the other lanes to avoid my vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealership and once again the high pressure fuel pump had failed. With this being the second failure of the same part in a 30 month period of time creating a very dangerous driving situation, I felt I should report the incident.
