5 Tank Assembly problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/20/2015

Please note that this vehicle was originally purchased in the us and then purchased second hand by myself in late 2010 and registered in ontario canada since. On about the entered date I identified strong gasoline smell and some leakage below the gas tank. I investigated Ford recall info and found that the car was subject to a recall for leaking gas tanks (Ford # 15s31), (NHTSA item listing date 2015-10-27). After calling local dealers in both canada and us, I was informed by both that my particular VIN did not appear on the recall list. I called both canadian and us Ford customer service and again they only confirmed that my vine did not appear on the list. The recall criteria states that Edges built before July 2010 are part of the recall. My build date is late 2009 and fits the criteria. Also among the us states and canadian provinces that fit the criteria, ontario is one of the recalled provinces. This also qualifies my vehicle. No one has given me an answer why my car does not qualify. Presently, the car is a potential fire hazard, which I cannot drive and which is endangering my property and family and that of my neighbors. The repair is expensive and I am reluctant to proceed with it on the simple hope that Ford will reimburse me. (note: the selection of michigan for my address is in error, complete canadian address appears on city line. ).

11 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/02/2013

For a few weeks there was a strong gas smell all around the Ford Edge. Brought it in to be looked at. They were stumped, the gas tank was not leaking, there was no damage to it nor any rust of any kind yet they also could smell the gas. After time, they found that gas was seeping through the seams of the tank. Called multiple Ford dealerships and they said they have been seeing quite a bit of this on Edges and have repaired 4 within the past month in our area. They informed us how extremely dangerous it was to continue driving the car, if we were in an accident or if anyone threw a lit cigarette, the car could explode. Very unsafe. We called Ford because we saw many recalls on newer models for the same thing. They denied the claim for the 07 model. We got it repaired for $1700 at a Ford dealership. They are not offering a reimbursement for a malfunctioning part and a very dangerous situation.

12 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

Gas tank seal corroded. Mechanic was inspecting car when he found that besides the transmission transfer case needed to be replaced, the gas tank was leaking gas. It appears the seal is corroded. I was told that the new tank was approximately 1500. (just the part) and about 600. In labor. I feel that this should be repaired free of charge by Ford, this should not happen on a vehicle that is only 6 years old. I can only put about 5 gallons of gas in, not to exceed just under the half tank mark. Also, cannot park car on anything but a level surface.

13 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Ford Edge

Strong fuel odor present inside and outside of the vehicle. After fueling noticed a steady drip from fuel tank. Brought vehicle to private mechanic and was told fuel tank needed to be replaced as it showed evidence of corrosion on the top of the tank. Ford has been notified and will not assist with repair nor will they admit it is a design defect or acknowledge other complaints for faulty fuel tanks. It is not normal for a fuel tank to rot on a 6 year old vehicle.
