1 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2018

Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Ford Escape. The contact stated that there was a sudden loss of power, a lack of speed control as it varied suddenly high/low and the contact was not sure if the throttle may had been stuck or open. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. The steering wheel air bag deployed with force. A police report was not filed. The driver sustained bruising to the legs, was unconscious and had received further medical treatment. The contact was uncertain if the front passenger side and curtain air bags had deployed. The vehicle was towed to a police impound lot. The insurance company obtained access to the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected and diagnosed by an independent mechanic and a dealer yet. The manufacturer had issued NHTSA campaign numbers 12v353000 ( engine and engine cooling, vehicle speed control) however the vehicle was not included. The contact was not included iin NHTSA action number: pe12019 (speed control) and dp12005 (speed control). The manufacturer was notified after the crash and the contact was to determine if the vehicle may be obtained from the insurance company to further investigate the crash and the air bags. The approximate failure mileage was 177,000. Dyd.

2 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2014

While driving, the throttle stuck. Applied the brakes, but vehicle was difficult to slow and tachometer indicated high engine speed. Shifting to neutral, the engine rpms put the needle in the red beyond the gauge. After shutting off the vehicle, and opening the hood the problem did not persist, but returned after driving again.

3 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2005

Within 2 hours of buying a new 2004 Ford Escape and at 180 miles the throttle stuck on the highway accelerating me to nearly 90 mph before I could shift it into neutral, get it off the side of the road, and turn off the engine. Had there been any cars next to me on the highway I would have been involved in a horrible accident. The car is at the dealer to be fixed, but I read on the Ford motor CO. Web page there is a recall for accelerator problems. How/why can a dealer sell a car with a known defect? I very easily could have been seriously injured or killed.
