On my way to work today, my car starts to slow down when I try to accelerate. The car eventually jerks forward and starts to go faster after the rpm goes up to 4. I thought it was the transmission slipping until I see the wrench shaped light come on. I turn around, put my flashers on since it's happening off and on and immediately take it home because I don't want to get stuck this far away from home. When I get home, I check to see what the wrench light means and find out it's a throttle body issue that for some reason there is no recall for even though it's an on-going issue.
Takata recall - vehicle transmission slips, engine revs and decelerates while driving, ignition switch will not start car each time. Sometimes it takes twenty tries. I have read hundreds of these complaints on the internet. Ev.
Two days ago, I was driving on the highway and suddenly, my gears started slipping. I was driving 45 mph and then my car decelerated to the point where I could no longer accelerate. This made it very difficult to get back home and I feared that I would be at risk for a crash. Immediately the next morning, I brought my car to a Ford dealer and they diagnosed the problem to be with the transmission. My options were to fix one band or the entire transmission. Upon doing research about this issue, I found that many other Ford customers had experienced the same problems with their 2008 Ford Escape's transmission.
My vehicle has less that 55,000 miles on it and I am having tons of problems with the transmission slipping. I should not be having these issues. I am very strict when it comes to changing my oil and having things serviced on this vehicle. I should not be having transmission issues, especially at under 60,000 miles. I feel Ford should step up to the plate. They know there is issues with this models transmissions. Please help, any advise welcome.
My 2008 Ford Escape's transmission started slipping while in overdrive. It then went out and revved up to 5,000 rpm's and would not move while in over drive or drive on the interstate causing me to almost get rear ended. I had to shift to second gear and limp it home.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Escape. The contact stated the transmission was slipping and failed to shift into gear when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
My 2008 Ford Escape had experienced major transmission slippage due to a faulty transmission oil cooler. There appear to be numerous complaints about faulty transmission oil coolers for 2008 Escapes. I understand that a TSB has been issued by Ford to its service technicians; however, the general public is unaware of the problem that creates a major safety concern. In my case, the cooler developed a leak shortly after 37,800 miles of use. The leak caused the transmission oil to drop below an acceptable level for the transmission to function properly. I noticed the slip when entering onto a highway (us rt 22). The slip caused a major delay in the acceleration of the vehicle and almost resulted in major accident. I had my 2 young children in the vehicle at the time. The transmission oil cooler is currently being replaced. Although the part appears to be an integral part of the transmission it is not covered under the manufacturers 5yr/50,000 mile powertrain warranty. Instead, the part is covered under the vehicles general 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. The cost of my repair was $930. Ford appears to be aware of this common occurrence as evidenced by the TSB but there has yet to be a recall. Although a crash and/or death were not my end result, it easily could have been. Please take the time to investigate and ensure that the problem is resolved. Thank you.
My 2008 Ford Escape is currently at 16000 miles and I have noticed for about a week that the transmission has been slipping. Then when I put it into reverse, it sounds like it is going to stall but doesn't. However, when then going into drive my car has stalled 4 times. I took it today and that was the second car today brought in for the same problem. They automatically said it would take a couple of days and got me a rental car till Tuesday.
