1 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

While driving, the vehicle will stall, or drop to about 800-900 rpm with no response from the accelerator. The "wrench" will come on the instrument panel, and the vehicle will sometimes stall/kill altogether. We have had the codes pulled by a technician, and they say that the "throttle body is stuck open", "the throttle body is stuck closed", and there is one more but I cannot recall it off the top of my head. I have called Ford and they have said that they do not have a known issue, nor is this a familiar problem per the symptoms. I have likewise done an internet search and found several complaints, and an NHTSA investigation launched. Please advise that this is a major security concern for me - yesterday I was traveling in the left lane of a major freeway, at freeway speeds, when my vehicle seemingly stalled, dropped to 800 rpms, and I had to cross 3 lanes of rush hour traffic to pull over to the shoulder to shut my car off, put it in park, then start it back up and merge back into traffic, then have it repeat the problem less than a mile later. This is a huge problem, and if not fully addressed by Ford, my fear is it is going to cause accidents if it hasn't already. Thank you in advance for your follow-up and support.

2 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2013

Driving to kansas from iowa on the interstate at 65 mph we suddenly stalled and lost our power steering. We were in heavy traffic which was quite scary. Pulled over to the side of the road stopped, put the car in park and started the car back up. Continued down the road only to have it happen again within 2 minutes. This happened multiple, at least 20 times until finally the car would not respond to the gas pedal. We would step on the gas but the engine would not respond. Then we turned the car off, waited a minute and tried it again until we could get back on the road. The last 13 miles of our trip took over a hour. Took our car to the dealership the next day and they replaced the throttle body which cost us 462. 57. The mechanic told us this is a recurring problem and there will most likely be a recall. The error codes were p2111 and p2112 throttle body stuck open and closed. The next day we had a tire blowout on the interstate, which was also scary and in heavy traffic, because we spent so much time on the shoulder of the road which cost us another 180 dollars. I would like to see this recalled as a safety defect.

3 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2013

My son was driving to a school event Saturday night when the car stalled and the throttle position light came on. He was able to get it of the side of the road safely. I put a scanner on the car and it said throttle control module was stuck open, but when I started the car it ran fine. I think this is a serious issue that needs address by Ford.

4 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2013

I was driving down the highway at 70mph and my vehicle lurched, knocked, and then began to slow down no matter how much I pushed the gas pedal. I made it to the side of the road and once completely stopped, the vehicle vibrated until put in park. I turned my vehicle off and waited about 5 mins and then restarted it. Everything appeared to be fine, so I began to drive down the highway again. Within 2 miles, the same incident happened again. I made it to the closest auto zone and they diagnosed my vehicle with a trouble code p2111, throttle body stuck open. They sent me to a locally owned body shop, where they too, diagnosed my vehicle with the trouble code p2111. I managed to make it back home and take it to my Ford shop, where they confirmed the trouble code of p2111, so they replaced my throttle body. Unfortunately, my vehicle was no longer under warranty, so it came out of my pocket to replace the part. My Ford had the nerve to mention this has been a reaccuring problem they are seeing, which is why they already had a throttle body in stock. This should be sent to recall; it is dangerous, and has affected many people from what I've read.

5 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

While driving the vehicle began sputtering and then would not accelerate and would barely move when pushing the gas pedal. It was diagnosed initially as the throttle actuator stuck open. It was cleaned. I drove it and less than 24 hours later it lost acceleration on a major highway at a traveling speed of 65 mph. I had to pull over 3 times and restart it to get it to a car repair place. I ended up having to have it towed to a Ford dealership where they replaced the throttle actuator motor. The diagnostic code was p2111. I asked for the old part and it did not look worn or damaged. The repeated loss of acceleration on a major highway during morning rush hour created a great risk to my safety and those of the other motorists around me. The service man at the Ford dealership advised me they were seeing a number of similar situations involving this part with Ford Escapes. The total cost for both service visit was $465. 00.

6 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2013

While driving about 25 mph about 0. 25 miles from my garage the car would not accelerate when I stepped on the accelerator pedal. There was no throttle response. I was unable to re-start the engine after turning the car off, and had to be towed to a service center. The diagnostic code was p111 -- throttle body stuck open. Upon removal of the throttle body, the service mechanic said the throttle body appeared normal. I retained the original throttle body as evidence after it was replaced.

7 Car Throttle Stuck problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

In a 35 mph zone, when accelerating after slowing to allow vehicle in front to turn, throttle stuck open & car lost power. Was able to get to side of road and restart car and proceed. Same thing happened 4 additional times that day at various speeds accelerating to speed following a stop or using an on-ramp to hiway speed. Have experienced "surging" previously but dealer ignored reports as "intermittent". Car was towed to dealer on 22 may and is still there awaiting a new throttle control body. Shipment of new part is estimated as 17 Jun. Dealer is not providing loaner or rental car as the part is not considered part of the powertrain & is therefore approx. 6 months out of warrenty. Since the car cannot "go" without the throttle control body - why is it considered part of the emission system vice the powertrain? with so many cars down for this part, it should be a recall.
