Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the rear passenger window dropped down without the window button being pressed. The contact stated that the motor to move the window back up stopped working. The contact stated that the rear driver side window previously experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that there were no recalls. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 91,000.
2010 Ford Escape back hatch and window fail to open. This is a keyless window and hatch. Ford dealership wants to charge 380. 00 to repair. Ford does not have a manual or secondary system to open the back hatch and/or window. This fail has rendered the back portion of the Escape useless. In an emergency, a secondary manual opening device from the interior and exterior needs to be retro-fitted, after market by Ford. The dealership where we purchased the vehicle, has no interest in resolving this obvious engineering blunder.
I went to open up my real tailgate to place a blanket in the back of the Escape. I closed the tailgate with normal velocity and when it shut, the rear window imploded. The tailgate was not slammed, the window itself did not have any damage prior to this incident. I only had the car for <1 month. I only put 312 miles myself on the vehicle. This could of been more dangerous if either the vehicle was traveling or children were in the backseat.
