Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated while his wife was driving 5 mph, when the steering wheel became difficult to turn, causing her to bump into the curb. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park the vehicle into a parking spot. The driver was able to turn off and on the ignition, until the steering wheel was able to turn again. The contact stated his wife was able to drive back to her residence. Upon investigation the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v284000 (steering). The vehicle was taken to local dealer autonation Ford bellevue located at 411 116th Ave ne, bellevue, wa 98004, (425) 243-5203, where it was diagnosed with needing torque sensor to be replace and reprogram the power steering control module. The vehicle was not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 107,000. Dp.
