1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The gas tank is faulty. Suddenly, it will not hold gas. Gas began to pour out after I had filled the tank just a few minutes beforehand. I noticed the gas pouring out when the vehicle was stationary and parked in our garage. There has been no accident or external damage to the car to cause this issue. I read that some 2011 Ford Escapes were recalled for this very issue, but my VIN does not appear in the database and customer service advised that I fill out this form.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

When truck has a full or even half tank , always smell a loud gas smell coming from truck. Gas smell so loud can not have truck parked in garage due to fumes. Also with brakes, when forced to stop immediately the brakes make a weird sound and wont lock properly.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2019

I have had issues with a check engine light that lights up all the time on the car. It will also say "check fuel fill inlet" when I pump gas. The code reads p0455 which means the engine computer recognizes a large leak in the evaporative emission control system (evap). The vehicle's evap system is sealed, it's main purpose is to prevent gasoline vapors in the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere. I am not sure if one of the recalls pertains to this, but this is an ongoing problem for me. So much so, that I have stopped driving the car in fear for my safety and my family.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2018

Very often as I'm driving the power steering will go out making it very dangerous to turn the wheel will just jerk away. . Also the fuel tank has always been an issue. Now I am unable to pump gas without gas leaking out. The wheels and tires always go flat I'm thinking something to do under truck.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the odor of fuel was present outside the vehicle. Upon inspection, it was discovered that fuel had leaked from where the filler hose connected to the fuel tank. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer (newins Ford in bayshore, new york) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2017

Vehicle is leaking gasoline from or near the fuel tank. The leak appears to be located near the fuel filler assembly. The leak produces strong odour of gasoline in cabin and around vehicle both when in motion and when stopped. A large wet stain under the tank was visible after the vehicle was parked on gravel for about five hours, with a strong odour of gasoline. (note on the attached photo of the fuel tank id badge, some information is cut off. On the left the second from the bottom line reads "shift 3". The bottom line reads "oct 26 2010 10:45pm").

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Ford Escape. After parking the vehicle, it was discovered that fuel was leaking from the fuel tank. The cause of the failure was not determined. The contact later received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number: 16v777000 (fuel system; gasoline), which indicated that parts were not available. After notifying the manufacturer, the contact was instructed to take the vehicle to the local dealer (cortese Ford, 2500 w. Henrietta rd, rochester, NY). The contact was informed by the dealer that the vehicle would be inspected first. Afterwards, a decision would be made as to whether the parts would be ordered and shipped from the manufacturer, even though the recall notice indicated that the dealer would replace the fuel delivery module flange. The failure mileage was 120,000.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

The car was in garage for 2 days, I drove it app. 9 miles to the store and back only. The smell of gas was strong later that night in the garage. It appears the gas tank is leaking. . . Possible with the fdm. I did not receive letter for recall 16v777000, but sounds the same. Will see what the jax, FL dealer says.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

I have had this vehicle for one year, and it would be impossible to recount all of the times it has stalled on me while driving it. It has stalled in parking lots, in heavy stop-and-go traffic, making turns, pulling into my driveway, and accelerating to enter the freeway. It started within two months of purchase. I took it to a Ford dealership in August of 2014 where they performed recall work which included throttle body replacement, reprogrammed the pcm, and a power steering advisory item. The vehicle continued to stall. The stalling seems to happen just after fill-up and happens intermittently until the gas gauge reads less than three-fourths and at low speeds. I filled it up yesterday, and it has stalled seven times since then. It happens when coasting to a stop or making a turn. On the freeway at high speeds, it runs well. The issue was compounded in February when it was discovered that the evap canister was full of gas. It, along with a tube hose assembly (bl8z9d667b-af), was replaced only for it to happen again. The purge valve was stuck open and had to be replaced along with a second evap canister. The stalling issue continued, and the dealership found the canister to be saturated with gas again. This time, they said they would have to replace the gas tank to correct the issue as they believe it is a valve built into the tank which seems absurd. I have not done this since they quoted a cost of over $2000. Even if I have that done, it will only correct the canister issue, not the stalling. I have read hundreds of posts on the internet from people who have the exact same problems with the same model year as I have. These are both issues that I believe to be the result of a defect in the manufacturing of this vehicle due to the volume of owners who are experiencing the same problems. I feel Ford needs to step up and correct these issues.
