The contact stated while driving 45 mph the vehicle stated jerking, when the contact accelerated the vehicle would not accelerate and several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road and had the vehicle towed. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and stated that the transmission needed to be replaced and advised to contact NHTSA to see if the vehicle was under any recalls. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at approximately 45 mph the vehicle began to make a loud winding and roaring coming from the rear-end of the vehicle. The contact put a new set of tires and replenished the rear end grease, however the vehicle continued to make this abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed. The contact was informed that they would need to replace the rear drive unit. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving, she heard a humming noise when the vehicle inadvertently slowed while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that she was able to maneuver the vehicle off the road and placed the shifter in park. The contact then stated that after a few seconds, she placed the shifter in reverse but the engine revved and failed to engage. The transmission fault warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and produced codes: p0731 and p0733 and stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that performing a jerking sensation periodically whenever the transmission shifted. The failure occurred at various speeds. The failure occurred approximately 10 times within 6 years. There were never any warning lights. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer informed them that the transmission failed due to the torque converter fracturing and detaching. The transmission and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
