Both windshield wipers suddenly stopped working making it extremely unsafe to drive. Dealership said both motors are bad and need to be replaced. Automatic lights just started going on randomly in the daylight and the brake lights would be illuminated when not braking. Back windshield wiper suddenly does off when it's not turned on. In the last month I have spent more than half of what this car is worth on repair! what a lemon!.
My 2015 Ford Escape is melting my rear brake light bulb socket harness and the brake light lense housings.

My wife and I purchased a 2017 Ford Escape, brand new, 6 months ago. We noticed that the brake light plastic cover was fogging over making it hard to see the brake light. After checking with our dealer, mac haik Ford, georgetown, texas, I was informed that this is normal. Normal? sounds more like a safety concern to me. I was also told that water leaking into the brake light unit was also normal. I can't imagine allowing water to collect inside an electrical item as important as a brake light and is very strange and very wrong! if it's fogging up now what will it look like a year from now or even two years. Ford motor company made a mistake and they need to replace this brake light unit! it's a safety issue and they know it. Joel atkeisson, leander, texas.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Escape. The contact's wife was stopped by the police because the brake lights were not illuminated. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who was unable to open the rear door in order to repair the brake lights. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.

The 3rd brake light assembly has melted from the heat of the brake light bulbs. The plastic melts and breaks the light bulbs out of the sockets. This worries me as it seems like a fire hazard and I don't know what's causing it.

This isn't pertaining to my vehicle, but this is rather a complaint about the current brake light styling trends in most newer vehicles (not just the Ford Escape, but I've also seen it in other make/model vehicles as well). The issue is the brake lights should be noticeable and distinguishable when the brakes are engaged, but in the case of the Ford Escape (and several other vehicles), the brake lights are a simple strip of what I presume are led lights that are very dim and hard to tell that they are lit (except maybe at night), especially when the body vehicle is similarly red in color. I almost hit one the Ford Escape because I could not tell (until I was up close and was then able to see that the thin band of barely lit lights were actually lit), and only realized they were braking due to the relative speeds of nearby vehicles. These new "styles" for the brake lights should be looked at as I believe they pose a safety hazard rather than being a safety feature.
Vehicle info centre indicated a brake light malfunction. All 3 brake lights were inoperative. Personally checked fuse which was not blown and contacted sam galloway Ford in fort myers for service appointment. Was told only a bulb was burnt & that all bulbs were non-functional because of "xmas tree effect". I find it unsafe for a vehicle to loose all brake-light functionality because 1 bulb in the circuit expires. This is exceptionally dangerous when driving at night; which is what happened here. I would like to know if this is a factual situation with this vehicle.
Had been having a problem with a loud squeaking noise coming from the steering column when turning; checked the NHTSA service bulletins and found a bulletin from June 1, 2003 noting this same problem; check engine light was also on again; I made an appt at dealer to check out these issues (4/7/04). Took vehicle in on 4/9/04. Dealer found the following problems: noise was coming from the upper steering column because the wiring for the horn was pulled out and rubbing on the contact plate; additional noise found at lower end of steering column dealer deactivated the airbag system to remove and replace the steering wheel and contact; also found that they had to replace the steering column boot, which had to be ordered at the same time, a recall was issued for this vehicle regarding the power train control module; dealer performed the recall vehicle was in the shop from 4/9 - 4/14 and dealer had to pay for a rental car steering column boot was ordered and I had to take the vehicle back into the dealer on 4/23/04 to have them install it. After leaving the dealer on the 23rd, I realized that my horn, cruise control and left brake light were all inoperable, so I took the vehicle back into the dealer on 4/26/04. Dealer found that the clock spring was not making contact, so they had to deactivate the airbag again to remove the steering wheel and replace the clock spring; for the rear brake light, the dealer had to replace the bulb element vehicle was in the dealer for two days and they had to pay for a rental car for me again,.
