Check Engine Light On Problems of Ford Escape - part 2

Vehicle is talling intermitten while stopped or idling. Problem is becoming more and more commen. Vehicle starts back but will continue to stall when stopping or idling. The issues are the same as previous recalled vehicles with wiring harness issues. Please figure something out so this doesn't become more of a safety issues. No check engine lights come on and no mechanic can find an issue. This problem needs to be fixed ASAP Ford!.

Randomly the car will 'stall' to to speak even though it is an automatic and not a 5-speed. When I say stall I am referring to when I am stopped at a stop sign, red light, yielding to turn, etc - when I go to hit the gas the rpm's rev up high and the car speed is very low and at a rolling speed - even though I push down all of the way in order to get the car to speed up to avoid being struck my other vehicles when turning. The car will then regain all speed at once - instead of gradually. This has happened numerous times while I am trying to merge onto an oncoming interstate ramp or am at a red light or stop sign. I have missed being hit thus far but have had a few close calls. I have a check engine light on and have taken it to several dealerships and auto mechanic shops that have been unable to determine an issue with the car. They have read the check engine code and have found nothing wrong with the car.

The car stalls out from a standing stop randomly and without warning, yet no check engine light ever comes on. It is dangerous because it has stalled just as I'm pulling out into traffic. It has randomly been happening in the past two weeks.

I bought my 2019 Ford Escape brand new in March of this year, it had little under 25 miles. As of November 11th I auto started my car- when I went to get in it was running funny and check engine light was blinking. Took it to dealership, on November 13th they call and tell me my engine is bad. This is unacceptable, my car has 11,647 miles on it & needs a new engine. Ford needs to do a recall on these Ford Escapes - I know 3 people now who have had the same issue. Very unacceptable for buying a brand new car.

Car stalls at idle especially after parking the vehicle, and restarting it after a few minutes. Check engine light comes on. I put the car in park and restart and it stalls again. After a few attempts the car starts and drives normally. This happens mostly when in motion at slow speeds on the city street.

Me and my dad had brought this 2013 Ford Escape with warranty on August 20, 2018 at don davis Nissan it had 70,093 miles on the truck the sales man name mr. Freeman was the one who had sold us this truck he had this truck was at don davis Nissan for a week the salesman mr. Freeman told me and my dad that the reason the truck had took long because they were doing work to it to make sure that everything on it would be ok before they brought it too me and my dad. So we had the truck for about two weeks and everything on their was good until September 5 2018 the check engine light had came on I told my dad what happen he told me to take it back up their to don davis Nissan I took back up to them they tested and they came back and told me that the turbo charge needs fixing and it was going to be $500 dollars so when I told my dad he told the people at don davis Nissan that why should we have to pay for something out of his pockets when we have warranty on this truck and we just gotten this truck so my dad was pissed because we just gave don davis $500 and I looked on the internet and I seen were they a had a recall on this truck so I went out their to don davis Nissan and told them this and they come telling me that my truck doesn't have a recall and I told them like how do you know what I have and I seen on the internet that the same thing that the other customers who had a recall on their truck and as I look at the comments and I seen the same thing happening to my truck like for example the electrical system engine to wear my truck overheats to wear I hardly drive it sometimes I do because I go to school and to my doctor and run errands for my mother or father. And I been telling don davis Nissan since last and now and they acted like they don't want to help me but always be lying to me and my dad I have been telling don davis Nissan this and they straight ignore me.

I bought my car this year and the handle never worked. It stays stuck in the open position and the passenger door flys open while driving every time. I have also had coolant problems since the day that I bought the car. These are all shown on a recall list for my model car but when I check with my VIN it says I have 0 recalls. I have always owned Ford such as expeditions and explorers but I am not a fan of this Escape and all it's problems. While driving, it will go hit and say low coolant and I have to refill coolant every week or so. It's cute off on my and the check engine light reads words and not codes. It says association of �something�. This has been happening since I bought it April 2019 and I'm fed up. My kids can fall out of the car because of the door or I can have big problems with these coolant issues and motor issues.

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph the check engine light illuminated. While examining the failure a diagnostic instrument displayed a diagnostic error code of p1450 which indicated excessive vacuum in the fuel tank. Later while driving the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer suburban Ford(21600 woodward Ave, ferndale mi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, as the contact was coasting, approaching an intersection the vehicle stalled, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact coated to the side of the road and power off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normal and driving the vehicle to covert Ford dealer, (11514 research blvd, austin, TX 78759, (512) 345-4343) but was not diagnosed or repaired, the technician infirmed the contact if the engine warning light flashes again, was to coast over and not drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the engine warning light illuminated and called the same dealer where an appointment was schedule. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and was diagnosed that the solenoid purge valve. Needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was in the process of been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. Aw.

Car would have hesitation and stall while idle and check engine light would come on (p1450). Also had vibration from fuel tank and/or fuel cap. Ford dealer said has to due with evaporator purge valve. Said has seen this on �lots of Escapes from 2013-2014�. This needs to be a recall. My car stalled while driving on the highway with no symptoms beforehand.

After several months of engine backfires, rough starts and idling and check engine lights they are finally replacing my engine due to issues with coolant getting into the engine. The last incident happened when the car was moving and could have been serious situation. When it was taken to the dealership they would not allow me to drive it further.

Car shut off in traffic when idling in right turn lane. Hazards turned on and coasted to side. Pressed power button again and car started. Pulled into parking lot. Check engine light was on. Car powered down again. Car started again and drove 10 miles without issue to destination. Check engine light stayed on.

Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an unknown speed, she heard fluid movement in an unknown part of the vehicle. The check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the jim shorkey Ford dealer (412-379-6465, located at 1234 long run rd, white oak, PA 15131) where a spark plug was replaced. The technician also and sealed the distributor to stop further leakage. . The failure recurred within 48 hours. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the technician diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact was told that the vehicle would not be ready until December due to work load (backlog). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Fe.

My check engine light came on and I received an error reading stating my engine coolant is low. I checked coolant and it is full. My car started to stall while I was driving it. I looked up info on this website which mimicked my issues exactly. The Ford recall campaign number is 12s41. I called Ford motor compay customer relationship center and asked them about my car and explained the problems and how they mimicked the recall listed above. They said my car was not included in that. I informed them that it was a 2013 Escape which shows to fall under it and they told me that my car probably didn't get made with the same parts and may have been made at a different time. I will now have to pay out of pocket and I have a hard time doing that since obviously the symptoms mimic the recall. My vehicle is in motion when it stalls out and tells me my system is overheating and to pull over. It is a random thing. It can happen when just started or when I'm driving down the road.

Purchased the 2017 Ford Escape from hertz car sales Feb 2019. It was under 50,000 miles at the time. Mileage now is around 58,000. The first few months did not have a problem, then going into summer, the car would occasionally have a rough idling start. Mind you at the time, my husband and I used it mainly to commute to work(20mins to get to work) and back with the grocery trips to the store occasionally. I'd say starting June around that month when the engine was started, sometimes a rough idling would happen and then the check engine light would come on too. The ac stopped working around this time frame and still does not work as of 9/5. It will not blow out cold ac but just regular temp air. In August we visited my husband's parents down in socal, and got it checked out by an autozone technician and a local mechanic on separate visits. Autozone concluded it was cylinder misfire. Local mechanic concluded it was the codes that needed reprogramming because when they scanned it, different codes would pop up and that was causing the ac to shut off. To this day still when the car is turned on, the check engine light would pop up and stay on for days at a time. Other days, it would be off. Today 9/5 there is no rough idling. Going to my Ford appt 9/6/19 to get it checked out. A Ford representative called my husband today confirming the appt and recommended us to trade in our vehicle. I read other complaints on this website before writing this complaint, and others have stated Ford has a service bulletin announcement out about this type of issue. After reading that, I opened another tab, looked at their website and they only have information regarding the takata airbags and found nothing on service bulletin announcements regarding this type of issue. I could not find it, so there is no page dedicated to it. I'm starting to believe it should be also mandated as a recall.

On 1/17/18 mileage 47120 I brought the vehicle to our local Ford dealer and they repaired the vehicle under warranty due to recall 17s09. However, on 8/5/2019 mileage 62,500 the vehicle was running rough and the check engine light came on. Long story short, the vehicle was towed to another Ford dealer where they determined the vehicle had a cracked cylinder, the exact same condition that 17s09 was supposed to fix. While I did not suffer a safety incident in this case, my concern is that the vehicle was not repaired correctly under the original recall, and thus there may still be a safety issue that may affect others.

Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on several occasions the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the spark plug on cylinder number (3) three needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the spark plug was replaced twice however, the failure recurred. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000. Ah.

In line at a fast food drive through, check engine light and temperature gauge came on. Shut vehicle down and then drove to the dealership, had a cylinder 3 misfire and low coolant. After numerous tests I am told that my engine is consuming coolant and that it will need to replaced. I was also told that this is a common and known issue among my vehicle/engine type yet no recall has been issued.

At 85,000 miles, I get a check engine light upon start up and it sputters. It goes on and off as I am driving. I bring it to the dealership, and they tell me it's the #3 coil and change that and give me a new set of spark plugs. Problem is, they said the warranty was only good for a total of 60,000 miles. I have no warranty. The cost is $350. Fine, I paid it, took it home and start looking for another Ford because I need one with a warranty. I look through my original paperwork and the fine print says the expiration is the total of 60,000 not an additional. My bad for trusting what the f&I person told me instead of reading the contract. We go on vacation, leave the Escape home and first day back at work the engine light comes on, plus a new light while I am driving telling me the engine coolant is low and to service it soon. I call my service adviser, he asked if the temperature is high and it was not. He said to drive it to them, and they will look at it. I get a call later that day saying that the engine block is cracked, and I need $5,300 to get a new block or $6,500 to get a new engine. He also explained that the 1. 9l turbo Escapes are experiencing a lot of issues and he has 2 at the dealership right now with the same problem.

Tl- the contact owns 2011 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while traveling uphill at various speeds, the vehicle would shut off as the check engine light would illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic where she has had the catalytic converter, the camshaft sensor, and oil delivery senor replaced on separate occasions. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unable to reach a representative. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

The vehicle started running rough and missing at 75 mph with about 5000 miles on it. Check engine light came on, cruise control shut off. I took it to the dealership and they said I had 3 trouble codes but I don't know what the were. They reprogrammed something a gave me the car back a week later. Two weeks after that I started getting another check engine light with the code p0420. The local dealer says they can't fix it or honor my warranty because it's a us spec vehicle and I'm in europe. I have a brand new vehicle that I have to clear the code every other day. To make matters worst the small door that covers the odb port won't close correctly. I'm sure it wasn't designed to be opened every other day.

When pulling out onto a busy highway, the check engine light and safety information notification popped up stating the engine was at an unsafe temperature and to safely park right away. The engine then began to stutter and shut down within seconds. The car had just been started only minutes before and the engine temperature was not hot. We added coolant to the "max" and the car cranked up and ran okay. The next morning, upon starting the car the safety notification popped up in the dashboard immediately and the engine did the same thing. After research and speaking with our mechanic, we believe the coolant temperature sensor is bad.

Check engine light came on and I was told that it was the turbo boost. I had seen that other vehicles the same make, model, year and manufacturing date had been recalled for that issue but mine has not and now I'm looking at a very expensive fix. I have purchased several Fords in the past but I'm concerned that the quality is starting to wane and I'm disappointed the recall hasn't been expanded when it's evident that it should have been.

With only 18,000 miles on my car, the check engine light came on and it overheated. The dealership misdiagnosed the problem after having the vehicle for 2 weeks. Within a day of me having it back, the same thing happened again. This time, the dealership had the vehicle for over 2 months because parts to rebuild the engine were on backorder. Once I received the vehicle back, it never drove the same but I lived with it. Here I am 3 months later and the check engine light is on again! Ford should be ashamed. Will never purchase another Ford again in my life.

Car stalled twice while in motion when turning into traffic now the check engine light is on.

At 26,000 miles check engine light came on. I took vehicle into dealer and was told they had to do some testing. The dealer told me 3 days later that a new block had to be back ordered as it was cracked from engine coolant getting into the combustion chamber. I waited 40 days for this to come in and then was told a head gasket was was on back order. The dealer said Ford had a service bulliten for this fix. I have the car back and wasn't offered a full warrenty. How can I be sure this wont happen again. I had correspondence with 2 separate dealers and both said they have seen many with this same problem.

At 127,000 miles the check engine light came on and we were told the transmission needed to be replaced. Ford was not willing to work with us even though we had an extended warranty. Now we are told that the engine needs to be replaced.

We purchased our Escape (new) from the dealer in March 2018. In March of 2019, our check engine light kicked on (engine had just over 12,000 miles on it). Code reader indicated a misfire. We took it to the dealer and they told us that coolant was found in the #2 cylinder and that the engine needed to be replaced. Engine was replaced under warranty at no cost to us. In July 2020, our Escape started exhibiting the same problems (rough starts, low coolant in overflow reservoir). We took it to the dealer (this time the check engine light didn't kick on), and they told us coolant intrusion had happened again and that the engine needed to be replaced as well as the turbo charger. Engine was replaced under warranty at no cost to us. Engine had just over 24,000 miles on it.

I pulled out into an intersection to turn left going between 5-10 mph when my Ford Escape stalled. The electronics remained on, the check engine light turned on and it displayed a message that read "transmission not in park". The car was still in drive. I was able to safely roll the car to the side of the road. I was able to successfully restart the car first try.

Car stalling while driving after engine warms up no codes or check engine light have taken to three mechanics not one knows the problem.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Ford Escape. The vehicle would sputter and stall the evap system was faulty the contact stated that while driving at various speeds the check engine light would illuminate and the vehicle would sputter and stall. Also after refueling the engine would not immediately start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the entire evap system was faulty and needed to be replaced, including the purge cylinoid and canister, and the fuel tank pressure sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 70,000 . Jft.

Vehicle stalls while driving on city roads. Have had conditions where we are driving at 30 miles/hr and car starts switching off with check engine light and oil light and battery light coming on. Vehicle will not move properly until I switch it off an on again. Has caused 1 accident and 2 almost accidents where car was rear ended due to stalling. There are no codes to say what is wrong and Ford states everything is fine.

Recently purchased car, check engine light came on. Diagnostics scan shows 2nd cylinder misfire, ignition coil faulty. Went online to check common issues with this model. . It is a common issue with most 04 Escapes. Lots of complaints for wheel well rust. . Upon inspection, mine too is corroded and the shock is coming through the floor board in the hatch. I heard noises while driving but hadn't inspected it until now, as I just bought this vehicle. The corroded spots were concealed under the carpet. Unsafe to drive. My photos are too large to upload.

Electrical fire in engine compartment. Car was parked for 10 minutes started smoking and then caught fire. Totaled car. Had recently had check engine light come on and say warning high temp. Stop safely. Took to Ford they said it was a sensor on backorder. Told me the car was not really overheating.

Car ecelerates on its on, transmisi�n jerks when u put it in gear after disengaging the hand break, rolling while in park with engine off, transmission jerks when charging from 1st to 2nd gear especially when pulling a hill. Brakes not holding properly; I almost rolled back into a car today. Check engine light randomly comes on & stays on. Omw tl the shop to have a diagnostic done it goes back off.
