While I was driving, the driver electric seat began adjusting itself. When I tried to return it to its position, it laid back more. I selected the position memory button and it did not return it to its position. The seat continued to recline until it was fully reclined. Thankfully my grandchildren were not with me as it could have hurt them in their booster seats. Would request that all electric seats have a manual override built in to avoid unintended injury and Escape from the safety engineering approved for the vehicle. The owners manual has several pages on proper seat adjustment but nothing on how to correct a faulty electric seat that does not respond as intended. This would allow the safety and hazard prevention engineered into the design to continue until service was available and would prevent unintentional injury if service was not available immediately.

The heated seat mechanism stopped working on the front passenger seat. A burn mark appeared on the back portion of the seat. According to the Ford dealer where in took the car for seat repair, there was an electrical short which caused the burn. This could have caused a fire but luckily it was noticed right away and we took the car in for a costly replacement.

My car caught on fire while it was parked. I contacted Ford Ford had no knowledge of fires in the car. Come to find out. It's all over the internet that there are fires in the ecoboost fuel system. They are refusing to fix the car. I am disabled and I feel like they are taking advantage of me because of that. I had an extended warranty even at the same time which obviously meant nothing. This is a great injustice and I really really really really really need help. I have tried everywhere. Please help me.

To whom it may concern, my 2013 Ford Escape is experiencing cracking in the leather of the front seat bolster. It is such a frustrating problem to have on a car that is only three years old. There is a TSB #15-0129 in reference to this apparently known problem. I just hope that if there are enough complaints maybe Ford will issue a recall and repair the problem. Thank you,.
The contact owned a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and was rear ended by another vehicle. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. The driver's seat fell backwards due to the impact. As a result, the contact lost control of the steering and crashed into the guardrail. The air bags failed to deploy. In addition, the key failed to release from the ignition switch and the doors failed to open, which prevented the contact from exiting the vehicle. The contact sustained back and chest injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Rust caused the separation of the lower control arm from the subframe of the vehicle. The vehicle was primarily used in a salt-belt state. The issue became evident after a small pothole caused the rear frame to puncture through the passenger rear wheelhouse into the cab of the vehicle causing a high-pitched squeal and steering difficulties. .

I was stopped at a redlight at an intersection, when I was rear ended by a car. My son and I were in the front seats. We were wearing our seatbelts. We were thrown frontward and then thrown backward. My sons seat was laying completely flat. My seat had flown back and hit my wife, who was sitting behind me,wearing her seatbelt. My injuries were a broken right fibula and left rib clinical fractures. My sons injuries were a concussion and whiplash. My wife had facial abrasions and left rib clinical fractures. We were all transported to the hospital by ambulance, had numerous testing done, spent the night and half the next day. Left the hospital still in pain.
After reaching down between the seat and center console to grab something that fell, I severely cut my hand and ended up needing 4 stitches. The gash went all the way down to my tendon. There is exposed, unfinished metal immediately under the driver seat and it is very easy to cut your hand on.
The last few times I turned on the heated seat while driving in traffic it felt like it was getting extremely hot to the point where I had to lift my upper leg up off the seat. I'm sure that if I hadn't shut it off it would have burnt me. There is no warning system to indicate the heated seat is malfunctioning or getting too hot. This needs to be addressed.

I am nor sure if this is a safety issue, but this vehicle has 3 memory seat settings. The problem is it continually looses the memory settings. I am concerned because I have brought it to Ford several times and they can't find a problem. I am not sure if this thing can reset, move or do something else as I am driving. My vehicle is just now out of warranty, but this problem started several months ago and has been brought to Ford's attention while still in warranty. To clarify, I am a big Ford fan, I love this vehicle and the Ford dealership I frequent is very professional and treats me with the utmost respect.
I was driving on southfield freeway in michigan about 5:15 pm, I was in the left lane when traffic stopped. I stopped along with the car in front of me. At this time the car behind did not stop going somewhere between 20-40mph hit my car in the back and pushed me into the car in front of me. The air bags did not deploy even though I got hit from behind and pushed into another vehicle. The force was so strong that it broke my driver seat and my glove box. My Ford Escape was total loss in the accident. I suffered some bumps and bruises and whiplash and did go to the er for these injures.

When attempting to adjust the driver's seat to move forward or backward, the seat will sometime move very slowly in either direction, or only one way, or other time not at all in either direction. This is a problem for me, as it impairs my ability to drive the vehicle. Also, I have notice the my seat frames are rusting.
Passenger seat gets real hot. ,starts to smoke have to shut it off.
2011 Ford Escape. Consumer writes in regards to air bag and seat failure. The consumer stated when she was rear ended, her head flew forward and hit the steering wheel with her mouth, then flew backward, where the back of the seat collapsed, which allowed her to fly back and land at a partially reclined position. For approximately 20 minutes, she laid in the vehicle, suffering from muscle spasms, trying to determine if she could stand up. The consumer was diagnosed with a concussion and whiplash.
I was recently rear ended on the driver side by a minivan travelling at atleast 40 mph. The force of the collision resulted in my seat back of 2010 Ford Escape to automatically recline several notches back. After I stopped, I could not pull the seat back to its original position.
Very disappointed by the design. Wheel well are extremely difficult to remove ice and slush they are too small and can't remove debris. Wipers in the front is not the greatest. Loses contact on windshield have a heard time seeing where I am going. Terrible wipers when purchased new wipers required. Engine having really odd noise and sluggish. I supposed they replaced the injectors. Had some torque but sounds like timing chain loose or lifters issue. Seats are not comfortable in the rear. Not enough cushion. Windows barely went up and down. Lots of give. . . Too much replaced front window motors.
Substantial amount of moisture collects on the inside of the windshield after a heavy rain. Both the driver's and the passenger's seat track assemblies started to rust as a result. The car smells like mold. Took the car to a Ford dealership (in nc where I was stationed at the time) in November 2012 and it was discovered that the drain holes in the right ride door (rear) were never punched out. That was corrected; however, the moisture problem continues. At the nc Ford dealership, it was also discovered that the rear hatch window gasket leaks. It was resealed, but not replaced. Took the car to a MA dealership in August 2013 for same leak issue. The gasket needs to be replaced. Why was this not done before in November? a window gasket is supposed to last 5-6 years not less than 3 ! car is still collecting moisture - problem not solved.

Rear end collision caused both front seats buckle back completely flat . Is that supposed to happen?.

2008 Ford Escape limited, leather seats peeling.
I would like to complain about the the height of the arm rest in my 2006 Ford Escape. I am a tall person and drive with the seat in the farthest rear position and find that I have to always raise up my arm and elbow in order to safely make a right hand turn. I feel that this creates a potential safety hazard and could cause an accident. I have looked for lower replacement armrests and have not been able to find something suitable to rectify this situation for me.

I know this complaint is not a safety issue. It is an issue however when I am purchasing a vehicle for $22,000. My seats are suppose to have stain guard, and have a warranty so when you purchase the vehicle it sounds great! I do love my car but I hate the fabric on my seats. It stains from water, rain, condensation of the bottom of a bottle, cup, can, or sports bottle, any type of water you name it . Its a 2007 Ford Escape and is going to be used in the rain. We don't even eat in it and I don't allow drink besides water but I have learned this also stains my seats. You could pour an entire bottle of water over any material in my home and unless its silk it would not stain it!!!!!!!! I am going to complain to everyone I know about this until the repair the problem.

D: the drivers seat material is so hard it puts the consumer's leg to sleep. The consuemr feels tht this is a safety issue because she cannot drive this vehicle very far without having to stop and walk around the vehicle to wake legs back up. The passengers seat appears this way also. Started noticing this about 3 weeks after buying the vehicle. This happens when I'm in it for about 45 min to an hour.
: the contact stated after driving for 15 minutes at any speed on a normal road conditions the driver seat and the front passenger seats create a severe pain at lumbar back region. The contact expressed the two front seats were not ergonomic, as they were in all vehicles previously owned. Updated 9/15/2006 -.
Since taking posession of a new 2002 Ford Escape xls in September 2001, I have noticed that the cushioning on the left side of the drivers seat was not as dense as the cushioning on the opposite side. The left portion of this seat has remained compressed through normal daily use, and will not spring back to match the opposite side. This has created a somewhat unlevel seating position with respect to a driver "leaning" into the driver's side door. I have just noticed that because of this compression, cracks and tears have formed in the vinyl upholstery trim where the creases are most apparent, and look only to get worse through repeated use. I have been informed that since my vehicle is out of warranty, I would be responsible for repairs to this seat.
