1 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

235/55 r-17 99t this is one of a set of two tires I purchased in oct. 2021. The passenger side front tire had the same issue discovered a few weeks earlier. The steering wheel started to shake while driving. I took the vehicle to the shop who informed me the tread was separating like the passenger tire was separating a few weeks earlier. Again the tire was more worn on the inside versus the outside tread. The replace tire indicator was still in place. It seems very odd that both tires purchased and installed at the same time had the same issue with the tread separating. I have both tires in my garage if anyone wants to inspect them.

7 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 02/25/2008

Problems with excessive tire wear. 1. ) (21,088 miles) purchase a pre owned certified vehicle 02/14/08 front tires look fairly new and rear tires looked like some wear on inside but not bad enough to bring to dealers attention. 2. ) (21474 miles) brought back to dealer 02/25/08 for excessive wear on driver and passenger rear tires. Driver side rear was almost completely bald in inside of tire. Passenger side was not as bad but was worn to a point where you can notice. Dealer gave me a hard time and said that there was no way those tires wore that quickly. They said I bought the car that way. Put two new tires on the front (I paid for one $110. 00) and took the fairly new front tires and put them on the back and had a 4 wheel alignment done. 3. ) (21505 miles) 02/27/08 brought vehicle to my local Ford dealer and had the 4 wheel alignment check because I had no trust in purchasing dealer service department because of the hard time they gave me over the problem. Alignment checked out to be within specifications. 4. ) (21,972 miles) 03/26/08 notice excessive wear on rear tires again and brought it back to local dealer. They agreed that the tires front and rear where wearing excessively and performed another alignment check. Again the alignment was within Ford specification. They also check underneath the vehicle for any part being bent and also check the frame to see if that may be bent. Everything checked out ok. Dealer brought the vehicle to a private tire / alignment shop and had the alignment checked out by an expert and he made some adjustments to bring it in a tighter to the specifications. Dealer advised me to bring back the vehicle back after 1,000 miles to rotate the tires and check them as well.

9 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/07/2007

The purpose of my letter is either to inform or alert you to a tire situation. On may 7, 2007 the continental tire tread on the 2005, Ford, Escape left the wheel in a complete circle, nearly causing a potential accident. I consider this to be a catastrophic failure unlike any that I have known. I used the spare tire, and reported the situation to my Ford dealer. They, in turn, reported the failure to both , continental tire company and the Ford motor company. Since then the continental tire company offered to replace the tire by offering me $20. 00 off a replacement tire as the cost of fair wear and tear. At no time has continental expressed any interest in viewing the separated tire. In short, $20. 00 take it or leave it. On the other hand, the Ford dealer sold me a set of different tires at his cost just so that we could have some peace of mind while driving in the future. If you have an interest in obtaining more information I have a series of photos of the separated tire which I would send you upon request along with dot numbers, etc. My email is milpridbassett@aol. Com.

16 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/23/2004

I was driving my car on I-75 near gainesville, florida last week. I was in the passing lane when I heard and felt the left rear tire tread beating on my car. It had separated from the tire without warning. It all happened so fast, I immediately attempted to get onto the shoulder safely. My car began to pull to the left uncontrollably, crashed into the guard rail at over 60 mph, bounced off and sent me sliding sideways for about 100 feet. By the grace of god, my children and myself were not physically injured. The damage to my car is estimated to be around $6,000. 00. The tires were the original factory tires on my 2001 Ford Escape and have only 26,000 miles on them. From what I have read on the internet, this is not an isolated case but appears as though the manufacturers are aware of the tread separation but choose to do nothing about it. I am wondering if you can advise me to what recourse I have in order to prevent this from occurring to other unsuspecting motorists. I was fortunate to have had only car damage, I fear others may not be so fortunate and this matter needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

19 Tire Tread/belt problem of the 2002 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 07/08/2003

My 2002 Ford Escape's tire (manufacturer continential tires) had seperated and had caused 2 other tires to wear improperly. Though all recommended maintenance was performed and documenation was provided to the dealership, Ford of vicksburg, I was told that "it wasn't Ford's problem or responsibility". I then contacted continential tires, who advised to take the vehicle to sears, 40 miles away from the town I lived in. After taking the vehicle to sears and inspected, continential tire advised sears "they would pay for half of the seperated tire and that was it. " I then spoke with the senior representative, carrie, of the tire manufacturer on the phone who advised that "the situation was Ford's responsibility because they have a bumper to bumper warranty. " I purchased my vehicle (new), December 2001. I conducted the recommended service as advised. I had approximately 22,000 miles in July, 2003 when the problem was discovered, which was shortly after I had an alignment performed at a Ford dealership in louisiana. I did nothing to cause the problem that occured and was given "the business" of "it's not my responsibility", so it became my problem on a vehicle "supposedly" under warranty. I can't believe the run around I received from Ford as well as continential tire regarding something that I had not caused or had any control of, after having the recommended service performed on my brand new vehicle. I will never own another Ford vehicle and will ensure the vehicle does not have tires manufactured by continential.
