Steering Is Tight Problems of Ford Escape Hybrid

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the steering wheel was extremely hard to turn, without warning. The contact called hassett Ford (3530 sunrise hwy, wantagh, NY 11793, (516) 785-7800) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that there was faulty torque sensor in the transmission. The manufacturer was contacted but, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

I was turning to a parking lot and turned the wheel all the way to the parking spot and the light on the dash illiminated reads service power steering wheel. Power steering is out its very hard to turn almost impossible. Restared the car and problem still exist. Failured milage is about 160k mile.

As my seventeen years old daughter was pulling out of the driveway for school she noticed the steering was hard to turn. She took my car to school. I went to try and move the car back up the driveway and could barely turn the wheel myself. Luckily she was at home and not on the road. There is no assisted steering anymore, it just went out.

My steering wheel is very very hard to steer on my 2009 Ford escape 2 wd. I need this fixed by the dealer & want to know if this is part of the recall#14s05 my VIN 1fmcu02729kb46683 . I hope this is part of the recall so my local dealer can fix it free for me.

Problem first arose while driving ~60 mph on highway, there was a slight jerk of the steering wheel, as well as a dinging-alarm heard. Did not notice a warning on the dash at the time, car drove fine the rest of the day besides this quick incident. A few days later, the power steering went out upon turning right at a stop light, steering was very hard but manageable. Upon starting the car again later the same day, I noticed a message of "power steering assist fault" on my dash along with dinging heard, and no power steering at all. Drove home without power steering, forced and difficult turning. Found that there were recalls for this problem of my car, just not for my VIN specifically.

Went to drive the vehicle one morning to find that the steering wheel was tight and hard to turn. Dash displayed wrench symbol indicating maintenance needed and narrative that power steering needs service.

I was driving along and loss all power steering it was very hard to turn around a corner and if I was going any faster I probably would have not made it. I have been reading online that this is not a radom occurence several escape owners have had loss of steering.

Power steering quits working while driving. Can happen at low speeds or normal driving speed. Malfunction was intermittent. Power steering would start working properly after shutting engine off and restarting engine. Problem has become more frequent and getting power steering to come back in operation after restarting has become less frequent. Steering this vehicle is very hard without power steering, making it very un-safe to drive.

I was driving and gave a friend a ride. I waited in the car with the car still on while she got her things. When she hopped on I accelearted and when I tried to make a turn the steering wheel was so hard. I couldn't turn it. I pulled over and turned it off. When I started the car, it was back to normal another day I went to the drive through. Same thing happened. I tried to turn after and couldnt. I had to turn he car off and then back on. I went to the dealer. They said that on their bulletin there is a msg that the steering wheel colum must be replaced. They saids it would be about 1300. 00 for me to replace. I do not understand why I would have to pay. There are other blogs with the same porblem.
