Interior lights and digital odometer light goes out and then come back on every now and then.
Car caught on fire in the middle of the night, reason unknown but apparently it had to do with a recall on the cruise control switch . We never received any letter's or notices of the following recall. Vehichle was destroyed and we also had property damage to carport and house totalling $40,000.
I have a 2000 Ford Expedition the past 3 days we have had hard rains. I went out to my car and found that the floor on both the drivers sides and passenger side of the SUV was flooded. My radio was on the car was not. The dash light were going crazy. I started the car to move it so that I could get it near an outlet to use the wet vac to remove the water and the wipers would not work. I removed the water from the floors and when I went to move my Expedition it would not start it seems that it is leaking from the windsheild. I noticed that there are alot of complaints on water leakage on Expeditions. Now I am worried that the water may have shorted out the electrical system.
I thought when I bought this car that I would have a vehicle to take my son to get his chemotherapy but I thought wrong! it started with the air suspension that dropped to the ground when my shocks gave out and the rear airbags couldn't hold the weight of the vehicle but I was sitting in the car rider line at my son's school at a dead stop when they decided to go. (so much easier to look the fool) we then found hoses that had corroded apart that were vaccum hoses and thinking that was the problem we fixed them. It wasn't the problem. I didn't know then that my shocks were completely gone until we were jacking up the car and removing the back tires to inspect the airbags better when we saw that the rust had completely taken over the whole under carriage. Now I have front & rear trailing arms that have numerous holes from the rust eating through them, along with the fuel tank straps that have almost rotted themselves loose, and almost completely broken ball joints. I want to know who is coming to take my son to get his chemo since I don't have the money to run out and buy a new car? I give my cash to Ford to keep my car afloat. I have had this car for 10 months and I owe $2800 but the thing is that it cost more for me to fix everything and replace all dry rotted lines, rust, ect and buy coil springs which I hear now have as many problems. Is Ford going to pay for my son a new car since it is like this one would be totaled since it cost more to fix than it's worth? no, they don't care and I hope when they go home after reading this they can look their own child in the face knowing that my son doesn't have a ride to chemo 30 miles away! I guess it will take wrecking my car accidentally and killing the child I fought for 10 yrs to keep alive for insurance to pay for it or is Ford going to have heart doing the right thing by recalling the things they know is their faults?.
Well first it was the horn that has been replaced several times and now all of the sudden cruise control doesn't work. I was annoyed about the horn, but now the cruise control. . . Seems like something is wrong with that horn and cruise control set up. . . . And I was wondering about the paint because it is also pealing like crazy. . .
2000 Ford Expedition was totaled due to a faulty cruise control switch.
I have a 2000 Ford Expedition, this is the second time a spark plug has blown out of the cylinder, I did some searching and found thousands of other people with the same problem, the last one was a ways from home and I drove it home, just found out that the car could have caught fire. It's time Ford did something about this potentially dangerous problem and I hope you can help. Thanks john bendik.
As I was driving my 2000 Ford Expedition down my steep driveway, I felt a hard bump and felt like I hit something. I looked out my rearview mirror and saw my tire rolling down the street! the tire was our full-size spare that had been secured under the truck. The happened last year, 2007 around spring time. Luckily, I was just coming out my own driveway and not driving down the freeway with my children. I would have filed this sooner but just found this website today. We have not taken the truck to the dealer to see what broke off but now that I see we may need to for the cruise control recall from 2005. . We were in south korea and never received any recall notifications over there. Anyway, if you've had numerous complaints similar to mine, it may be worth checking into before someone else loses a spare in the middle of a crowded freeway. Thank you, christine holloway.
Traveling @ 65 mph on I-580 in richmond, California, my spare tire fell from its cable held bracket below the frame where it is secured on the vehicle, bounced on the ground, then struck the bottom of the rear bumper, which wedged the tire between the bumper and ground, causing the rear of the SUV to catapult off the ground. The force and pressure on the tire being wedged between the vehicle and the ground caused the tire to pop from behind the vehicle and proceed across three lanes of traffic at a high speed, eventually ending up in the center divider of the freeway. I was able to maintain control, but barely. There is damage to the undercarriage of the truck at the rear bumper, plus the stress and difficulty of keeping the truck in a straight line while trying to come to a stop after the rear tires were lifted off the ground approx. 6-8". The press fittting on the cable that holds the spare tire in place separated cleanly from the cable. The cable did not break or fray, just the press- fitted coupling came loose and separated from the cable, allowing the spare tire to fall to the ground. This spare tire has never been removed from the spare position since the vehicle was new, and of course,is the original equipment spare tire that comes from the factory, and the vehicle is maintained to factory specs, no modifications, no alterations, all original equipment. I secured the parts that I could find from the highway. I contacted the local Ford dealer, michael stead Ford, of san rafael, on July 13th and ordered a replacement spare tire winch and cable set for the Expedition. The part arrived yesterday and was installed. I do have the old winch, cable, and clamp that holds the spare tire in place. Certainly there must be a better and more secure way to secure the cable to the fitting that supprots the spare tire under the car then this small fitted unit that in my case came loose.
Fire - 2000 Ford Expedition caught on fire while parked in my driveway. The vehicle was parked for about 2 hours before it went up in flames. The vehicle was totaled.
In June, my 2000 Ford Expedition spontaneously caught on fire in my driveway. It had been parked for well over an hour. It appears as if the fire was electical. Fire damage was caused to my home as well as a vehicle parked inside the garage. As of yet, my insurance has not settled with me despite the truck being totalled. Ford motor company has not returned my calls either. A fire investigation was done by the north las vegas fire department but cause was undetermined. After doing some investigating of my own, I have found many people who have had the same problem. I would appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter. Thank you.
I own a 2000 Ford Expedition. I was driving down the road 2 days ago when the spare tire winch assembly failed and the spare tire fell off the underside of the vehicle, bounced up and hit the vehicle and then rolled down the street. Fortunately, no one was behind me and it did not cause an accident. Has there been any recalls on this type of problem?.
Noticed peeling, flaking paint on hood. Reported to dealer (regency Ford, metairie, la) on April 23, 2003. Eventhough it appear to be a manufacturers defect, they would not assume responsibility because vehicle was not under warranty.
The manufacturing defect a on 2000 Ford Expedition which led to the consumer's unfortunate accident.
Deal claimed asht ray melted inside due to a cigar -- no joke, but refused to replace the warranty item or report the defect to Ford motor company.
