Vehicle check engine light stays on. Vehicle turns off when sitting idle. Brought vehicle to dealership and they said they fixed it, but after leaving the dealership and paying a large bill the check engine light came back on and still cuts off when just sitting idle in "drive". Scared that this can cause an accident if someone behinds me doesn't realize that my vehicle cuts off.
While driving 55mph on interstate 95 in philadelphia, PA with my wife and 2 children the vehicle stopped running and I was dangerously stalled in the middle of interstate 95. The check engine light came on and check electronic throttle message came on. This is a family vehicle and my wife and I refuse to drive it now in fear of this incident occurring again resulting in death or serious injury. Based upon my research, it appears to be a well known problem that occurred to thousands of Ford Expedition owners. I would appreciate the problem being addressed expeditiously before people are killed and/or injured.
While driving at 40 mph engine stopped working making brakes and steering fail. Limped off busy road luckily! engine light showed electronic throttle failure. Now check engine light is on. Going to dealers for repair today-since this is an obvious problem for Ford why haven't they addressed it! could be deadly if fails in heavy traffic conditions.
Driving on freeway in my 2005 Ford Expedition, when I lost power and brakes and the check engine light came on. Coased to the side of freeway. Very dangerous incident.
2005 Ford Expedition with 90,000 miles on it, driven in normal vehicle stalls while driving under normal conditions, and the "check electronic throttle control" message comes on infor screen, then engine light comes on. Almost ran into ditch along side of road last time when engine stalled, as power steering and brakes shut down as well.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The vehicle stalled while driving at any speed. When the vehicle stalls the steering wheel also becomes very stiff. During the failure a check engine throttle light illuminates on the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer he was informed either the throttle or the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 112,866.
While driving the car on the highway with children in the vehicle, the engine light came on, message came on about electronic throttle control , and the vehicle lost all functions of steering, braking, and accelerating. There were no warnings before this happened. After taking it to the Ford dealer today, I see on the internet that many many many families are having this same problem with 2005 Ford Expeditions. Seeing as the problem creates an immediate safety concern for not only the family in the 2005 Ford Expedition, but all the families traveling around the 2005 Ford Expedition. . . I feel like the safety board should look into this as a potential recall for 2005 Ford Expeditions. Thankfully my family is safe today. . . But someone's family may not be so lucky.
