Engine missing.
The car turns off. I need to put the car in park wait a few minutes then turn the car back on and it works. The bad thing is it can happen at any time.
I was driving and all of a sudden steering wheel locked and my car literally shut off while I was driving. . I coasted to the side and I turned off car. . Tried to turn it back on and it kept cranking and I kept doing it like 5 times until it started back up. Sure it is a 2005, but it has been giving me problems since I got it, now it is worse. I don't believe it is wear and tear I actually replaced the whole engine 4 years after I bought my car which is ridiculous to begin with. If my car burns up while I am driving I will really make a stink. .
Vehicle vibrates badly especially at highway speeds. Vibration is so bad, the vehicle rocks side-to-side while driving. Driving at highway turnpike speed of 75mph, vehicle engine began to surge and then completely shut down. Oil pressure gauge indicated low oil pressure and vehicle would not start. Vehicle still had electrical function but engine no longer would turn over. Checked engine oil level and had engine oil. Called highway patrol and had to have the vehicle towed.
This car just numerous of problem. . . . . Who ever built this car did not have a good job of doing it.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was not available.
My engine said fail safe mode. My spark plugs got stuck in engine costing me 1000 to fix.
My 2005 Expedition is maintained normally and spark plugs changed and the engine will either cut off or slow down to about 30 miles an hour while I am on the highway with a error message fail save mode. Most times when I shut off the engine and restart it turns over but doesn't stay on. Totally unsafe for me and my family. Please research and recall what the issue is! this issue has started about 4 years after we purchased the vehicle and has been happening maybe one to two times a month since.
I have a 2005 Ford Expedition and have maintained my vehicle maintenance and only have 124,000 miles on this vehicle. It continues to shut off the engine and code fail safe mode on code appear and when I'm driving on the highway it is dangerous. After reading so many complaints this is unsafe. Also, the computer issues with locking doors, failure of the transmission (which I had to replace) such a disappointment of a vehicle. Ford should recall engine and computer issues. I purchased this vehicle brand new $50,000 + and have not be able to depend on the stability since I've had it.
My 15 year old son and my life were placed in serious danger, by the gross negligence and deceptive business practices promoted by the Ford motor company, regarding scan code p2106. Since as early as February 26, 2013 Ford motor company was made aware of a dangerous defect concerning the mechanical and electrical components of their manufactured product released to the consumer public for profit. The vehicles are Ford trucks, manufactured from 2003 - 2008, with the v8 5. 4 l engine. Public record reveals case no. 12-7222, jason schmidt, (plaintiff) vs. Ford motor company, (defendant) filed in the united states district court for the eastern district of pennsylvania, that Ford motor company is well aware of this issue. I believe that Ford motor company has made no attempts to inform Ford dealership owners, the Ford dealership managers or Ford service repair shop managers at the Ford dealerships and consumers who had already purchased their manufactured product of the issue. This issue is very dangerous, I was traveling 70 mph, with my son in the truck. Ford motor company has gone on record, via telephone conversation, explaining to me that; "Ford motor company has no control over how individual dealerships function or operate their establishment places of business, sorry. But I can take a complaint and be sure that the dealership receives it and provide you with a complaint number". Flammer Ford, spring hill, FL replaced a part and neglected to test drive the truck, released the vehicle to me and the part replaced was not what was wrong with the truck. I had my truck towed to autonation Ford in brooksville, FL for the same issue (p2106 code), they did the same thing, without replacing a thing. Only this time, while driving on a highway, my truck and the lost all power. My truck is back at autonation Ford in need of a new transmission.
For the 3rd time in the past year I am driving down the road at about 40 mph - engine lights comes on, message "check electronic throttle control" comes on - I have no power, I coast to the side lane turn on hazard lights, turn key to off position. . Read more...
While moving in traffic the vehicle engine cut-off on its own. Message came up on dash display, something about "elect throttle control". Was moving very slowly on an interstate highway bad traffic, with heaters (front and back) and the radio on. I was able to coast off to the side of the highway. Turned off radio, heaters, then was able to restart the vehicle. Battery condition was fine (replaced 2 years ago), no other warning. Vehicle is well-maintained, never driven hard or used for towing. Today I am taking it to a Ford dealer for evaluation.

While driving on the highway the car completely shut down. All lights on dash lit up, radio went off. Seconds later the car restated itself and the radio went back on. This happend twice on 10/20/2014 and once about two weeks before that. . No warning lights come on, no bumps the road was smooth, no rain puddles. It just dies and restarts itself each time. For about 6 months now the car dies completely when I am backing up every now and then not each time. We had 5 people in the car and got very scared. I have had lots of work done to the car and have receipts. Mechanic said it sounds like ran electrics problem that could be one of a hundred things. Please help with a solution.
Accelerated engine to pass, engine coughed and heaved. The rpm climbed but vehicle acted like it was dying. Car eventually died. Turned car off re- started it. Chk engine light came on. Engine ran rough wanted to ramp up in rpms but still acted like it was going to die. (this is not the first time, it is very intermittent) the last time it seemed serious and continuous they changed the transmission. The problem did not leave. I read numerous post on the web site as the problem continues to come back. Never showing codes. Just runs like crap. Numerous identical problems on the internet. Bought a new maf. No help. Replaced coil packs no help. Checked and cleaned vct solenoids. No help. Replaced camshaft position sensor. No help. No chk eng lights. Will not exceed 3500 rpm.
Electronic throttle control help, I have a 2005 Expedition,. The thing has just started shutting down on me while driving. For no apparent reason, while driving along, it stops running, and after shutting it off, placing it in park, it will start back up. It was so scary , thanks god I didn't had any accident ,this is a big issue from Ford.
While driving the vehicle went into a heavy vibration from the motor and the smell of raw fuel was present. After turning off the vehicle it would not start. The vehicle was towed to the Ford dealer and the dealer stated that a fuel injector became stuck open. The injector filled the cylinder with fuel and caused the engine to blow up (severe damage). It was found that this occured on Ford Expeditions numerous times and Ford extended the warranty to 11 years, 120,000 miles and my scary experience occured at 129,000. I previously replaced the motor at my own expense 2 years prior and Ford did not replace the injectors or notify me of an injector issue. Ford is stating that they will not honor the warranty and the engine damage was caused by the injector that was not replaced. It was found that Ford was aware of the injector issue since 2007. I'm not sure these issue are getting reported.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was notified of an engine misfire. The spark plugs were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 55 mph, the brake pedal became stiff, and the vehicle failed to immediately stop. Additionally, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the spark plugs, and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
I was driving with 4 kids in the car, when all the sudden my car turned off, all the lights came on the dash. Luckily I was able to move over to a parking lot. I turned the car off, turned back on, nothing. Tried again and it worked. I was able to drive 50 miles home and as I was turning in my driveway it happened again.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that the vehicle caught on fire. The fire started from under the rear seat of the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. A police report was filed. The contact stated that his mechanic believed that a failed catalytic converter could have potentially caused the fire. The failure and the current mileage was 98,300.
Getting on freeway an audible bip and a warning came on screen indicating to check electric throttle and a few seconds later the engine died. Extremely dangerous. Had kids in car. This should be a matter for recall.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the engine shook. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the variable cam timing phaser had failed and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 130,000.
We have had three incidents of unexpected acceleration on our Ford Expedition. Once with my daughter and three grandchildren and twice with myself. I have contacted Ford and they say there is no known vehicle problem and only offered to have it towed to a Ford dealer and I will be responsible for the cost of the repair. If Ford is correct and there is no known probllen, then why would Ford be willling to pay the cost of towing the vehicle to a dealership? I spoke with Ford customer service on March 5th and today April 1st. Mario rondo a Ford customer service manager stated the above.
I was driving down the highway going 65 & my truck completey shut down was almost hit by a semi. A wrench sign came on, I put it in park & shut it off & started it back up. This happens all the time. I believe something shouuld be done before someone gets killed, from what im reading itss happens to alot of owners. So please for our safety do something don't wait till its to late.
Driving in city traffic, at approximately 35 mph. The electronic throttle control light came on and engine died. We were able to coast to gas station. The vehicle started right up and everythings worked fine. The next day took vehicle to Ford dealership. After troubleshooting, they were not really sure of what was the problem. But they suggested changing the throttle body. We decided to take vehicle home. Vehicle worked fine until yesterday, the problem occurred again. This is an unsafe condition. There is a large about of e-mail traffic about this same problem, and Ford has not issued a recall.
Was driving around 40 miles per hr and engine just quit. No power steering. Warning light came on regarding throttle. Luckily we were not on the interstate and could pull over. My son will be turning 16 in a few months and he was going to be driving this. Now we are worried. There are so many complaints on line. Ford needs to recall this. Someone will end up being hurt over this. I have seen that replacing throttle does not fix it. We turned car off and restarted it and it worked fine. You do not know when this will happen.
I was driving, when I tried to further accelerate, the car did not respond and a warning " check electronic throttle control". I pulled over and was able to restart the car and continue to drive as normal. The internet indicates this is a common problem in 2005 Expeditions. This is obvious a highly dangerous situation to not be able to accelerate while already driving.
Warning light said electronic throttle control, this is the third time I have almost had a major accident and Ford tells me to call them when I have an accident or the code shows back up. They admit that they are aware of this issue but it must fail completely before it can be replaced under warranty or recall. Also the truck cuts out at 60mph and jerks until you speed up. They advised they are also aware of this problem and come back when it breaks down.
While driving on road in traffic, the engine was bucking and turning off, causing traffic to swerve around me until I could get off the road. Warning light said electronic throttle control. Took to dealer for inspection.
Engine stops running at different speeds. System displays a check electronic throttle control error. This is very dangerous.
I have had an engine check light and no one can find the problem. Some mechanics tell me its one thing and the others something else. Took to a. V Ford and quicklane in north hollywood. My truck stayed several days at shop and still cant find problem. Mechanic even called detroit plant to get advise. Still not resolved. Paid too much just trying to figure the problem. Has there been any issues brought to you about engine light on for Ford trucks. I have documents of visits to mechanics if you guys need them.
I was driving my car when all of a sudden the accelerator is not responding and so I need to coast the car to the curve. I called the dealer and so my car was still under my extended warranty and so I took the car in and I was told that they replaced the part this was in March 2009, it is now January 21, 2012 and I had the same problem. The message board reads, check electronic throttle system.
Vehicle stopped running while making left turn at intersection, vehicle stopped running while at stop light, vehicle stopped running while on interstate hwy at highway speeds. All this has happened more than 20 times.
Vehicle died unexpectedly while traveling down highway at a high rate of speed. There are hundreds of complaints just like this on here. If a recall isn't in order people will die and the lawsuits will begin. It's obviously a major mechanical problem. Ford and the NHTSA should be liable. This is serious and reading through all of these complaints it doesn't seem like the NHTSA is doing their job.
2005 Ford Expedition limited ~83. 5k miles vehicle had been driven about a half hour and the engine stopped without warning, unable to accelerate, brake or steer. Coasted to side of road, shut vehicle off, restarted. Took to dealership, unable to register code however I provided them with comments from online sites pointing to throttle control body failure causing engine to go into failsafe mode. Dealership's first inclination without any codes is to replace a fuel sensor. Dealership refused to address throttle control body despite my suggestion along with other vehicle owner's incident reports from online sites. 8 days later while my husband was driving myself and five children, after about a half hour of driving, he found he was unable to accelerate, looked at the message center and it said check electronic throttle control at which time he put the vehicle in neutral and was able to restart. Dealerships are not addressing this issue because the onboard computer or sensors are not storing these codes, the problem is so far intermittent. This particular dealership despite my research would not address the issue. It also appears Ford is not acknowledging this either. So far, I have found one instance online where the owner of a 2006 Expedition was reimbursed from Ford for the replacement of their electronic throttle control body thereby acknowledging some semblance of responsibility. This newer throttle control body is different than the original, improved. Why is there not a recall or even a TSB? how many reports of there out there, how many accidents, injuries, possibly deaths might be attributed to this failure? after contacting Ford, we will have the throttle control body replaced. Also, it appears, people are being suggested to replace the sensor first only to have the problem occur again - it's not the sensor, it's the actual part.
