3 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/27/2013

I was traveling down the highway and was coming up to a stop light and the vehicle died out. I was able to get the vehicle started and shortly after that, I was traveling down the highway again and while I was speeding up to about 55 mph the vehicle shut down again and I was barely able to get away from the traffic around me and get the vehicle pulled over to the side of the roadway. I attempted restarted the vehicle and it could not get the vehicle to restart, luckily I work on vehicles myself and determined that the problem was a fuel pump issue. I tapped on the fuel tank, got the vehicle started and was able to drive me and my family all the way back home, but the vehicle was driving rough and no lights came on indicating I had a problem, before or after. I will get the vehicle tested on to see what would have caused it. After reading a great number of these complaints, the problem seems to point at and is clearly indicating it is the fuel pump!! we were very lucky that the vehicle didn't explode because the fuel pump wires have a tendency to melted on the fuel pump. I doubt Ford would pay for this fuel pump failure it seems to be a common problem when you look on-line.

4 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/04/2012

Vehicle experienced a no start. Was towed to Ford dealership for repair; diagnosed as failed fuel pump. Fuel pump was replaced and old pump returned to me. The old pump has a melted and scorched electrical connector where the wiring comes into the pump motor, which in the presence of gasoline vapors, had the potential to be disastrous. I noted several other similar NHTSA complaints regarding this vehicle in this model year. Pictures available upon request.

6 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 08/03/2011

The fuel pump went out on our 2007 Ford excursion while being operated. When examined, the mechanic stated that we were lucky the vehicle didn't catch fire or blow up since the wiring burned out on the fuel pump in the fuel tank. (I have pictures of the fuel pump that was removed). Someone needs to investigate these fuel pumps and determine what caused the wiring to burn up.

7 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 07/02/2011

2007 Ford Expedition 119 wb. My fuel pump stopped working. When I pulled it out of the gas tank I was shocked. One connection had been burned and melted away. I would think that anything getting that hot to melt the plastic and have burn marks on it inside a gas tank would be really bad. I have pictures.

8 Fuel Pump problem of the 2005 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 06/10/2011

Vehicle has been stalling for almost a year. Vehicle shut off on busy highway and towed to nearby repair shop. Mechanic found fuel pump control module completely corroded from behind and circuit board exposed to moisture. The fpcm fried and shorted out one leg of the fuel pump. Both pieces had to be replaced. New fpcm installed was obviously redesigned so module would not suffer this flaw again. I am finding an alarming amount of complaints on the internet of Ford Expedition owner experiencing the exact same problems under more dangerous conditions.

I was doing a left turn on a traffic light in my Ford Expedition 2000 08/16/2010 and the truck just died and the car behind me almost crash because I don't have control of the truck any more . And the reason I concern is because this happen every time the truck have a 1/4 tank of fuel and I take the truck for service to the dealer and run a diagnosis and they cannot find any thing . . . . . . But I think is a dissing issue in the position of the fuel pump in the tank any ways I am not a mechanic; I just concern about safety about the person behind me was hurt.

I own a 2005 Ford Expedition (limited) on a number of occasions my vehicles motor has revived up and I had to put my foot on the brake very hard to prevent crashing into vehicles in front of me. . . It also happened one time when I was going about 50 mph and the car for now apparent reason accelerated to 60 very quickly. I have reported this to the dealer on three separate occasions and they advise that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. (maroney Ford, delray beach, FL).

16 Fuel Pump problem of the 2002 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 04/06/2003

On the 2002 Ford Expedition I have found that there is a problem with the pick up in the gas tank if the vehicle it is mounted in the center of the tank and if the vehicle is below or at a 1/4 of a tank and parked on a grade at all the fuel will not pick up and run out of fuel causing the vehicle to stall this very dangerous especially if you work down town and park on a grade then you have 2 choices coast to a level area with no brakes or call for help. Luckily my wife's Expedition has only done it here at the house where she parks on a hill but most of the time I try to keep it above a 1/2 of a tank to combat the problem. I would very much appreciate it if you would check into this problem and let me know what happens.

19 Fuel Pump problem of the 2000 Ford Expedition

With less than 1/4 tank of fuel, facing downward, vehicle would shut off. Low fuel light would come on. Vehicle acted as if it was out of fuel. Could not be restarted while down hill. 20 Fuel Pump problem of the 1998 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/18/1999

Right front torsion bar broke while vehicle was parked in garage. Had vehicle towed to dealership for repairs. Was told they had some f-150 pickups with the same problem, but on the left side. I was told the parts were on national backorder, making me beleive that this was more than an isolated incident. Took 2 1/2 weeks to get parts in. Asked the dealer since it was occuring mostly on the left side of the other vehicles, I was wondering if they were going to replace the left side on mine. Also. I was told only if it breaks. Dealer fixed the vehicle on Feb. 5, 1999. After driving for 2 days it broke again. Dealer had to order another torsion bar and that was replaced on Feb. 17,1999. I have numerous concerns with the safety of the vehicle since my wife is the primary driver and transports our children ages 10 and 3. What would have happened if she had been driving down the highway when the torsion bar failed. I've placed 3 calls to Ford consumer relations, and received nothing, not even I'm very sorry, and no corespondence from them. As to the problem with the fuel pump, every time we got down to 1/4 of atank of gas or less and would come to a stop and step on the accelerator to proceed, the vehicle would stall in the middle of an intersection. Brought it to the dealer on three occasions, only to be told they could not find anything wrong, and that we should drive the vehicle with more than 1/4 of a tank of gas. I asked them to test the fuel pump twice. Then finally, on the third visit the replaced the fuel pump because they found the fuel sock on the pump was too short and pumping fuel when the tank was below 1/4 of a tank.
