New vehicle purchase on 9/10/20, owner noticed headlight beams were possibly misaligned approximately 9/22/20 in a well lit city. Misalignment was confirmed when traveling from a town with less lighting on 9/26/20. Driver noticed misalignment causes delayed reaction time as hills, curves, and road signs were not visible. Contacted dealership to report issue on 9/28/20. Dealership scheduled appointment to remedy issue for 10/15/20.
The headlights on the 2018 Expedition are awful. They are far too dim and distance coverage is far too short. They have a sharp cut off that makes it seem like something is in the way of them. The brights are better, but not nearly what they should be for a 2018, $60k+ vehicle. This is a huge safety concern. Not confident that I would see something in the road within a reasonable time to safely avoid it.

The halogen headlights in my 2018 Ford Expedition limited are too dim and unsafe for roads that are not lit or for driving in the rain on any road. I cannot see the road well and I feel that the halogen bulbs are not a good enough option in a 60k+ vehicle. I am extremely disappointed in Ford motor company for cutting corners and not making the led headlight housing standard for all of their vehicles. The Ford oem halogen bulbs are extremely dim and unsafe for consumer use. If there was something in the road, I don't think my headlights would give me enough notice to avoid an obstruction. Very unsafe.
The halogen headlamps on the 2018 Expedition are completely inadequate for a 2018 vehicle. They are dim, and they are angled down with a low cutoff. I brought my vehicle to the dealer and they adjusted the lights as high as possible, which did not address this issue. Ford offers an optional led headlamp system which appears significantly brighter and safer, but at the time of purchase they didn't have these on the dealer lots. It's wildly irresponsible to sell a brand new vehicle for $65000 + that has headlights from the 1990s. They also claim that this system can not be retrofitted to the halogen headlamp models. Driving at night on a road without street lights is unsafe. You can't see road signs, oncoming traffic, pedestrians on the road, etc. Visibility is limited to a very short distance. There are multiple complaints on this NHTSA site about the inadequate lighting, what will it take to get Ford to replace the halogen lights with the led lights?.
The low beam headlights shine very low and not far enough ahead of the vehicle. They are also very dim.
The low beam headlights only reach out about two vehicle lengths. I've had it back to Ford on four different occasions but they say they can't do anything about it. I've replaced the bulbs with ones that are supposed to reach out an additional 120 feet but they are just as bad.
Since the purchase of my new Expedition I have had issues with the poor performance of the headlights. The Expedition has the projector style headlights and the light output is terrible. Driving in the winter months with rain or snow the visibility is near zero. I took the car back to the dealer the day after I purchased the car, spring 2016, and they made some adjustments. However now that it is getting dark earlier I find myself driving in the dark more often and the vehicle is near unsafe. I fear that I will not see an object or animal in the road. The car has been back at the dealer for over a week, they have tried replacing the headlights but I fear it is a design flaw. I picked up the car this evening and when I started driving down the road I had to double check to confirm the headlights were on. I immediately took it back to the dealer, the general manager also acknowledged the headlights looked like a problem. The car was purchased new so I would expected it not to have these issues. I would appreciate any attention you can offer to this unsafe problem.

The low beam headlights do not adequately light up the road ahead. You can barely see anything on the road in front of the car. I must use the high beams if I wish to see the road ahead of me. I have heard that this is a problem with many Expeditions. This occurs when the car is in motion. It occurs whether the car is on the highway or city street.

The contact owns a 1997 Ford Expedition. While driving various speeds at night, the contact's visibility is impaired because the headlights do not shine brightly. The dealer stated that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 06e060000 (exterior lighting). He has not made any repairs to the exterior lighting. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 170,000 and current mileage was 174,000.
The contact owns a 1998 Ford Expedition. When the key was turned in the ignition, the vehicle would not start. The gear indicator was not in park and the contact was unable to shift into park. He noticed a screw on the floor. The contact, a mechanic, took the dashboard apart and noticed that the screw fell from the steering column. The screw was replaced, but it continued to fall out. It seems that the headlight intensity of later model autos keeps getting brighter and brighter. Their own visibility might be enhanced, but it is at the expense of all of the other drivers. I feel that the Ford pickups and suvs are a major culprit, as well as any vehicle made by Acura. I would support a law restricting the candle power and height of headlamps, and an absolute ban on xenon lights.

2003 Ford Expedition headlights are too dim to drive safely. Husband has returned vehicle to Ford dealer and had them checked, not long after we bought it new. Service dept says headlights are fine. Both my husband and I feel that it is a safety hazard to drive with the dims on, because we can't see far enough in front of us. The brghts are fine, just the dims seem to be faulty. The headlights were like that when the car was brand new, so it isn't something that started deteriorating with age. Husband thought maybe they were out of adjustment, and had them checked, but was told they were fine. We own a Ford econoline van and a Ford f-150 pickup and both of the other Ford vehicles have much better visibility than our 2003 Expedition. Due to mountain driving in a rural area in northern California, we have to be able to see far enough in front of us to avoid hitting animals. The headlights are not bright enough to see far enough in front of us to avoid rocks in the road or even deer. Please investigate this because it is a very serious problem when night driving here. I am adding a number in the field (number of failures) that really isn't accurate because the headlights have been this way since the car was purchased.
Consumer stated that steering made a clicking sound,and headlights malfunctioned. Also, high beam lights did not work unless consumer held them . Consumer will be taking vehicle to the dealer for it to be checked out.
I am sick and tired of closing my eyes while driving at high speed because your department now allows passenger vehicles to blast oncoming traffic with 4 (four) headlights. I cite in particular the Ford Expedition where there is no difference between the upper 2 headlights and the lower 2 so-called fog lights. Sometimes, I will blast my own bright lights at these oncoming vehicles to let them see what their own lights look like. In response, the oncoming car or truck (mercifully) will hit their own bright lights which are less bright than the combination of their low beams and fog lights. I really don't understand how idiocy has crept into almost every department in federal, state and local government. How can you possibly think that it's ok to have *****double***** the amount of light coming from a vehicle than in the past. Technology is great but the human eye has not changed. You should review the studies from the middle of the last century to see how they came to the amount of light allowable under law back then. I'll bet they actually used logic in their decision. When, OH when will you morons ever make a correct decision? make the use of fog lights illegal unless there is actually fog or other inclement weather. Otherwise, you are just endangering the drivers of vehicles who are forced by you idiots to stare at this unreasonable amount of light proceeding from these newer vehicles. All you are doing is causing an increase in road rage and loss of faith in american government.

I am sick and tired of being blinded by both SUV and luxury vehicle headlights. Last week, I literally had to pull over on the side of a road to wait for my eyes to clear after being blinded by an SUV that also had halogen lights. My only solution now is to drive slowly, hoping they will pass me as I keep my eyes to the right side of the road (not feeling very safe in the process). I've already had one car totaled by an unfair-height collision with an SUV. . I don't want to lose not only my car but my life next time one of those egoists takes a joyride.
The high intensity discharge lights and the bright lights on SUV's are very unsafe. Ph.
Headlights shut off on at least three separate occasions while driving on interstate highway and towing a 4x8 ft u-haul trailer with the headlight switch in the autolamp control position. I was following my wife in her vehicle and she observed the headlights would periodically be off for a period of time and then be on again. She mentioned this to me when we stopped at a rest area and I told her I did not turn the headlights off or on . I have left the headlight switch in the autolamp control position since the vehicle was new (past 19 months). That allows me to start the vehicle and drive with the lights on upon starting and the headlights remain on for 12-20 seconds upon turning the ignition off and getting out of the vehilce. I will be taking the vehicle to the local Ford dealer in franklin nc on Thursday, may 24, 2001 to have them troubleshoot the problem.

While driving on highway at night on 1/10/01 multi-function switch failed, causing headlights to go out.
Headlights failed while driving after dark.
While traveling on the interstate at night at approximately 65mph, I switch the headlights from high beam to low beam and the headlights went out completely. The only way I could see to drive was to hold the wiper, headlight dimmer arm fully to the rear. This item was replaced under warranty after it defected once before.
Headlights do not seem as bright as other auto I have driven. Must use high beam in areas where regular beam should be sufficient. This issue should be addressed by Ford as it concerns me. Is power being drained or are light just not powerful enough?.
Headlights will not function. Told mechanic cannot locate problem.
While driving headlights dimmed. Then, passenger's side window fell out.
