Failure Date: 08/02/2002

I was traveling on I 69 near indianapolis, in, when left rear tire blew out at the area where tread meets sidewall. I nearly lost control of vehicle but was able to slow and get off road, nearly rear ended by a large semi truck following too closley. These tires were replacement by Ford motor because of the problem with firestone original equipment tires. I was afraid to drive with these general tires because of the blowout. I requested the Ford dealer who replaced the firestone tires with general tires to replace all 4 tires with new tires, but they refused. I was told that if they replaced tires in these situations they would have to go out of business. It seems they are more concerned with their finances than the safety of myself and my family. I have since purchased 4 new michelin tires at my own expense and feel much safer. I was disappointed with the way I was treated in this matter, it was not through any fault of my own. The dealer even sugguested that I may have caused damage to the tires when parallel parking by hitting the curb, but I do not parallel park this vehicle and I am the only driver. I think Ford should reimburse me for the $600 I spent so I may drive a safe vehicle.

9 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2000

While traveling on the freeway, I noticed a slight vibration. A short time later, I felt the vibration again and the tire blew. I was traveling at 60mph. Fortunately, no one was injured. I contacted Ford roadside assistance and they came to exchange the tire with the spare. I then drove the vehicle to a Ford dealer near where I work (magic Ford, valencia, CA). I requested that all five tires be replaced along with the rim on which the tire blew. It was damaged beyond repair. I have received a bill for $1,020. 00 from magic Ford, and do not feel that I should be obligated to have to pay. Although the exact model of tire is not on the recall list, it is obvious that this is clearly a manufacturer's defect. I am in possession of the tire and all surrounding paperwork. Tire blew out, came completely apart at the seams, could find nothing wrong with the tire afterwards that would have caused this. Station and they have footage of the tire and all. ( dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ).

13 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2000

When the story about the wilderness tires first broke I was in a panic because I travel every day for my job. On 8/09/200 I went to firestone to get my tires inspected and they said my tires were fine. I was asked if I found anything unusal riding on these tires. I told him it was like a flat spot on my tires. He said that was normal for this type of tire. On 8/25/00 I was traveling across a bridge about 55 to 60 mph I felt my rear end swaying then heard a noise like a helicopter I knew something was wrong. I pulled on the side of the bridge and saw my rear tire was blown with pieces of rubber all around. I called Ford and they sent eddie's tow truck out. A policeman stopped and called to make sure he was on his way. Eddie's took me to the firestone dealer in town. I was told that if I was not on the recall sheet for these tires that they could adjust my tire . Well I was not about to put the same tire back on knowing what was happening firestone did not take down my dot# and report this , they did not want to bother with me because I was not on the recall sheet. I had to go somewhere else where I could purchase 5 new tires equivalent to the type that were on my vehicle. I had 11,200 miles on those tires and as I said I travel every day around the state for my job. I was not going to be a statistic before firestone decides to recall all wilderness tires . I value my life to much. As you can see I am very upset. I hope by sending in this complaint no one will die because of these tires and firestone will recall all of the wilderness tires( dot number: 8xhl1py110 tire size: p235/75r15 ).

We were driving along the road and then the back tire just blew out we did not hit anything and it was blown out the side like it had been shot at. This happened in July 2000 we called our dealer and he said it was not under warrantyso we brang it to a tire shop in lindstrom and had a new one put on. Of course we did not save it at the time it was destroyed. Should I be concerned with the other tires now and can we be reimbersed for the one we lost ? according to my recall notice my tires are not covered in the recall but ever since our tire just blew out for no reason I am very concerned. Please notify me if I should have my tires changed or what I should do. Thank you very much kevin eichten( dot number: w2hl tire size: p235/75r15 ).

19 Tire Blowout problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2000

Tire blew out at high speed, explosive decompression. Was not in heat climate, happened only 3 minutes after leaving home. . Tire was properly inflated. . Both Ford and firestone have blown me off. . Made me pay full price for a replacement tire and discarded the defective tire. Repeated calls to both companies have fallen on deaf ears. . I believe this tire size is also as defective as the 235's already recalled and should be also included in the recall. At minimum I think I should be reembursed for the new tire I was forced to purchase. ( dot number: tire size: 255/70 r16 ).

1st incident firestone tire blew out at 2000 mi. Contacted Ford dlr. . . Said nothing they could do it was a firestone problem. Then went to firestone dlr in lebanon, mo. . Said no warranty nothing they could do! had to buy new tire cost $105. 00. I then called Ford mtr. Co. Rep. Said not their problem. Informed them tires no good should last 2000 mi. Refused to discuss. 2nd incident was approx. 100 mi. Later , the next month. That tire came apart . Belt broke loose from tire. Decided too dangerous not taking chance. We were forced to 4 different brand tires @105. 00 each. We now have 3 new firestone tires sit in drive. To dangerous to even give away. No help from Ford dealer,or Ford mtr CO. , or firestone. Now, the world is finding out what we already knew but paid for new to save lives. We want our money. Ford and firestone we feel responsible but are thankful no death. Thank you. Danny j. Wilson.
