My backup camera does not always work. Just get a black screen.
The reverse backup camera gives a mirror view so the left side of the car appears on the right side of the screen. Making it unsafe to backup because you turn the wrong way if you go by what the camera shows you.
My vehicle is Ford Explorer 2015. 106,000 on it. All the sealer for the door and windows are coming apart. I've never had a vehicle ever to do that less 10 years old. I've had cars, trucks and suvs older than that and the seals stay intacted. Water comes in the front passenger side door. Drivers door disclose solidly it rattling as you drive. The sealer around the windsheild and under the a-pilars both side have blown out. Have use black duck to insure the windshield does blow out. It's a safety and just plan bad seals.
Vehicle was being driven on the highway and due to the weather conditions (it was very windy today) out of nowhere the exterior a pillar applique trim attachment unattached and broke off. I want to speak with someone regarding this due to the fact that I received a recall notice in the mail but since there has been no official recall made I cannot schedule an appointment for service with my nearest dealership and I want my vehicle fixed.
Windshield - NHTSA recall 24v031 I received this recall notice in February. It indicated that "when parts are available" Ford will send a follow-up communication. There has been no follow-up communication received. On [xxx] I called the local dealership (parks Ford of gainesville FL) and was informed that parts are not yet available. Today is 31may24. Why is this taking so long and why has there been no follow-up communication? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I have contact Ford dealer I. Desoto about the recall on my Ford Explorer the piller has came off on the driver side and the passenger side is about to come off they say they waiting on Ford to send them the parts but be here around mid year and still have not heard anything from Ford.
The first complaint references recall 24v031. I received a notice dated February 2024 to correct this issue. It is now June 2025 and my dealer still does not have the parts. The trim pieces have come apart and flap while driving. I just don't think 18 months with no remedy is acceptable especially when it could cause a safety hazard. The second complaint with this vehicle is the door trim. It appears to be stitched however has come apart for years now. The dealership said that Ford could be putting a recall on but hasn't happened. A quick search online shows that many Explorers has had the same issue.
The exterior a-pillar trim part is loose causing water to leak through. You can hear/feel the air in the corner of the windshield as the SUV is moving. I have tried several times since receiving this recall notice in February 2024 to get this fixed and replaced through Ford. Each time brought my car in for service over the past 18 months, I was told that the part was not available but was on back order. In the meantime, water and moisture gets through causing a smell and mold. This is a health and safety issue. How do I get this repaired?.
Well my problem began after I got my cat back from the dealer for taking it in to get the rear toe link recall taken care of. Now I don't know exactly what the problem even is but I will try to explain with as much detail as I can to help you understand what I am still currently having to deal with. After getting. Y car back everything was fine until I suddenly get this sudden jerking of my car after I had made a right hand turn and as I was trying to accelerate to the posted speed limit, I honestly believed that one of my tires was about to break off while driving on the freeway with my two daughters in the vehicle with me while traveling to my sister's house nearly 35 minutes away from my residence. When I felt it, it startled me to the point where I believed that I might have popped a tire. I pulled over to check and nothing visible was wrong. Being 5 minutes away from my sisters house I drove to her house with my hazard lights on and after every turn I would feel as if one of my tires was going to just fall right off. My brother in law is a mechanic and I asked him to take it for a careful drive in an empty parking lot so he can feel what I was trying to explain to him. So he did and he said that it might be either the transmission not shifting properly and could be slipping, or the second theory is that the rear toe link can be either broken or damaged. He didn't know that I had already taken it to the dealer to have it replaced. I told him that the dealer had already replaced the rear toe link and his facial expression was very clear to understand that he was not sure if they did actually fix it or possibly mess with something else, because they might have believed I would have taken my car to get fixed there. Since that is my only vehicle and have a teenager in junior high and a 9 yr old in elementary I have to take them to school on opposite sides of my house . I have noticed that now it's not just after turning, but actually more frequently and longer.
The exterior a-pillar applique trim clip attachments on both sides of my vehichle have lifted off the vehichle and the manufacturer has failed or has been unable to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.
Recall 24v031 I received a notice in February about the recall. I have since received several notices and emails about it. Every time I call, they still don't have the part(s) to fix my vehicle and they have no estimated time for when they will get the part(s). When I looked up the recall, it was filed January 19, 2024. It is now December 2024 and still no part(s) to fix the recall. This is totally unacceptable. Ford should be held accountable for fixing the recall in a timely manner (10+ months is not timely).
The backup camera does not come up all the time. Sometimes it shows a blank screen or if it does show the camera picture is on the opposite side then what it show(backwards). Thank you.
Rear camera intermittently fails to function.
While driving the trim by my windshield flew off after hitting my windsheild, which made me swerve and almost crash into car next to me. Then the weatherstripping started to detach from windsheild and come loose. Pulled over to see what had happened. Saw the missing part. Now the other side came off while driving! I've used duct tape in its place because Ford wants way too much money to replace. Thank god my family and other families were not injured by my vehicle.
For about the last 3 years, whenever the car is put into reverse, the rear backup camera is intermittently going blank. The camera eventually will display the image, but it can be several seconds before the camera view resumes. The Ford dealership wants to charge about $700 to replace the entire camera, but I don't think the camera is the issue given that so many recalls have been issued over the exact same issue. There have been multiple recalls issued by Ford for the same issue, but I can't find one on the 2015 Ford Explorer-limited line.
The components that hold the windshield in started coming out going down the highway at 55 miles per hour terrifying me that the windshield was coming out. I understand that this is happening a lot in the Ford Explorers. I am having components replaced next week.
Sudden back up camera failure without a warning light or message. There has not been an accident/incident but it is difficult to see behind the vehicle at certain angles when turning my head to the rear to back up. I have not yet had it checked by a mechanic because upon further research found that it may be too costly for me to have repaired. I had no obvious issues before it stopped working.
Throttle body not working properly. The vehicle has left me stranded, mid driving- just loses power & I have to coast to the nearest location and re start vehicle. It is an incredibly dangerous situation. Signals to me "terrain management system failure".
Malfunction of rear view camera, available upon request. When in reverse the camera will go black and read "camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership. " it will not attempt to show a live picture until placed back into park and into reverse again. Often it will not function correctly even after that. It now happens almost constantly to the point it is completely unreliable. The fear of endangering someone or something by relying on a rear view camera that I know could malfunction at any moment, is too great. The problem was witnessed by a Ford dealership mechanic who was repairing the recall on the frame piece to the windshield. The mechanic attempted to resolve the issue by resetting/updating the display, but unfortunately the problem continues. No other representatives, police, insurance, etc have witnesses the issue. There are never any warnings the issue may occur.
I have had to have this trim piece replaced twice by mcmahon Ford in norwalk CT. First time 5/20/21snd the second time 6/08/23. Both times I have had to pay out of pocket. Therefore I do not understand why my VIN number is not included here.
Backup camera either shows black screen, or a warming box appears stating to see dealership. Will work intermittently.
While driving the temp started to fluctuate, causing the car the shut down in traffic. I had no clue what was happening. The only warning I got from the vehicle was a check engine light. This should not be possible. I understand the design is meant to protect the engine, but what about the driver. This was horrible and I've seen hundreds of others with this same issue. This needs to be recalled. In addition, it will cost me 4000 to fix this. . . While the pump itself only costs 200. The labor is the other 3800. This is a horrible thing to do to drivers.
Front window trim fell off while traveling on highway, the noise startled me and I was going 70 mph, did not see the part fall off and this is the second incident. The shop I took vehicle to the first time said it was a poor design and this happens often. Trim replacement part is 67. 00. I bought a used vehicle, had 126,000 miles on it at purchase. I feel the poor design needs to be remedied at the manufacturers expense. Please make a decisive recommendation for consumers. This is unacceptable.
Rear camera stopped working.
Backup camera - the backup camera stopped working at approximately 86k miles.
The driver side windshield trim separated from the vehicle while driving on the freeway. Upon inspection at our destination, it was evident that 4 of the plastic clips had broken causing the failure. The driver behind us was able to avoid the flying debris from this incident. We have not taken it in for repairs yet. There was no warning or early indication of this problem prior to it occurring. Concerned the passenger side will do the same.
I am unable to take this matter to the dealer, as they have shut down thier business.
Windshield panels pulling away from the window.
Driver's side windshield molding flew off while traveling on the PA turnpike at approximately 70mph. This not only startled myself (the driver) but caused the vehicle behind me to swerve. No accident was caused as there were no vehicles in the left lane of traffic at that time.
While driving down the interstate, the driver’s side windshield trim panel flew off my vehicle.
The molding on the front passenger side windshield flew off while driving at highway speeds.
Blower motor heat. Trim in door split.
Right and left inside door panel detaching from the door.
The backup camera only works intermittently. Sometimes there will be a black screen that says somethings wrong and to contact the dealer but this has been an issue for the past couple years or so. I saw there was a recall for many other for vehicles of this age for the backup camera but not for the Explorer. I was shocked when I didn’t see it was included.
My 2015 Ford Explorer is having fumes in the car. The dealership has charged me for an oil leak, cracked exhaust and now wants me to pay for a muffler. There is still exhaust fumes coming into the car making it hard to drive in the cold.
