The exterior "door entry keypad pillar molding trim" became detached from the vehicle and sent debris into the roadway while traveling on the highway. This component is the door access keypad found on the drivers side door of many Ford vehicles.
I have been waiting 12 months for Ford to provide my local dealer with the parts required to fix the window pillars that can come loose, as referenced in the open recall (24v031000). Several months ago, one of the recalled pillars flew off on the freeway, causing the car behind me to swerve at 70mph. Fortunately, nobody got hurt. My local dealer has tried & tried to get the parts from Ford motor but still cannot get adequate supply to take care of my recall service. Ford is not doing what they need to do on the parts supply.
The black trim piece that is by the door and window (where the keyless entry pad is) flew off while driving. While getting the recall for the other piece, it was observed the other piece on the opposite door is lose as well. When I received the recall, I assumed the piece that flew off was the recall in question. Since the part flew off and the other is lose, I believe it is a safety hazard and apart of the same assembly problem like the piece of trim by the windshield.
The illuminated b pillar molding strip is coming off on the driver’s side. It’s half out. The b pillar molding on the passenger side has started to come loose. These strips could detach on the highway and cause an accident. They should be included in recall 21532 and NHTSA recall 21v537.
While driving down the highway at high speed the exterior a-pillar applique trim clip attachment flew off my vehicle.
The drivers side pilar applique which house the keyless entry came off while driving. It appears it is held on with double sided tape. If it were to fly off it would have posed a problem for other motorists and pedestrians. When looking up for other insidents online found this is a regular occurrence in this vehicle. I was able to double sided tape it again to fix temporary. However it occurs from time to time still. No warning prior to occurance.
The a-pillar trim came off while driving down [xxx] in florida. The rubber gasket around the windshield also came off with the trim. This occurred in June 2024. Over a year after the recall Ford still does not have a solution to repair. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The driver door trim with keyless entry pad is loose and may fall off causing damage to other vehicles while driving and will damage the electric keyless entry system.
The passenger exterior a-pillar applique trim clip attachment broke loose while driving over a year & half ago. Took to Ford for repair but they advised there was a (recall January 19, 2024) but parts were not available yet. Would like to know exactly how much longer I have to drive around with the missing piece and potentially having to worry about the drivers side breaking off. I've also had to temporarily repair the drivers door b-pillar to keep it from fully detaching (recalled may 23, 2025). This is absolutely ridiculous to be waiting a year and half for parts to fix something that can cause harm and has been deemed recalled.
24s02 exterior a-pillar recall has not been remedied in a timely manner. Left a-pillar detached while driving 75mph on highway may 2024. Debris hit my vehicle as it detached. No other vehicle was involved luckily. Right a-pullar has been mobile since September 2024. If detaches while driving, could injure person or other property and cause me to be liable. Ford house, locally, told me there is not an official wait list for my name to be on when the part becomes available to them. They are doing “first come first serve” and advised me to call every month. I have called several times a month for over a year without any luck. Ford scheduled to remedy this and had my vehicle 7am-6pm on 11/07/24. The part was unavailable and released back to me without being fixed. The safety recall is not being resolved in a timely manner. This will likely lead to personal injury or injury to others and/or property if not resolved quicker. At this point, Ford motors should be held liable for their failure to provide adequate safety measures for their customers. Spoke to Ford’s national customer service department and was told each location is independently owned and they cannot help me (case# [xxx]). I informed I would be filing an official complaint regarding this. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
I am waitning for a pilar under recall over year and Ford never had that part available I check with the dealer on monthly bases they said the part never came.
Related manufacturer recall number24s02 NHTSA recall number24v031 the recall has been in place since January of 2024 (2 years) and there is still no remedy and the dealer repeatedly states the parts are on back order. I have had one pillar trim blow off, risking other drivers on the highway and fear the 2nd will do the same. Ford is not honoring the recall and there needs to be action taken for consumers.

Happen Feb. 28/2024. Windsheild part flew off my SUV/hitting side my SUV panel on door also loose. Could have hit another car. Hwy 321 south 2 lane hwy. Have called 3 times. Have been to dealership 3 times. C Ford. Keep telling me they have not received parts to fix. 5 mons. Still driving / with exposed around windsheild/ door panel doing same.
The top and bottom rubber of the windshield is corroded, falling off, and flapping against the windshield. It is also making a whistling noise and wind is coming into vehicle from the top. I was told that the recall would fix that but once they came to fix it they only did the left and right side of windows and left the rest the way it was. I expressed my concerns on a few occasions but they refused to fix it. I’m an elderly wheelchair bound female whose only transportation method is this vehicle. I have my daughter driving me to doctor’s appointments and the whole time I’m in the vehicle I’m afraid the windshield will fly off. The noise is so loud and hard to hear. The sun roof appears to be leaking as well so air could be seeping though there too. The windshield wipers go off by themselves even when it’s off or not raining. Even when the wipers are on there’s a big delay to wipe windows which makes it hard to see. I’m not sure if any of these issues are related but they have been brought to the attention of the manufacturer with no response.
I have a recall for my vehicle that was issued February 2024. Ford dealership has not fixed it due to the company saying the parts are not available. It is poor business on Ford corporate not to furnish the parts and dangerous since it is broken. I am not happy with your business and ready to report this to someone higher up to get it repaired. The dealership can’t help their customers due to the poor service from corporate.
A piece of the driver side exterior column flew off and into windshield causing crack and poor visibility because of it.
Safety recall #24s02/NHTSA #24v031 issued 2/2024 the replacement exterior a-pillar trim part is still not available. It has been loose for sometime and now had to be duct taped on. The original availability estimation was the latter half of 2024. Please help motivate Ford to remedy this situation.
While driving at speeds over 35 mph, my 2017 Ford Explorer has started making a loud rattling noise that sounds like wind/air is coming through somewhere around the windshield. The sound is extremely loud when driving on the interstate or highways. After inspecting the inside and outside windshield area, I saw a very noticeable gap between the paneling/trim of the sides of the windshield and the seal. It appears to be loosening on both driver and passenger sides but more on the driver side of the windshield.
I am formally submitting a complaint regarding an unresolved recall issue on my Ford Explorer involving the front roof rail covers (pillars). The exact defect outlined in the recall is what I am currently experiencing: the pillars are barely attached and could easily detach while driving, posing a serious safety risk. I am also concerned this defect could compromise the structural integrity of the windshield in the event of an accident or even during normal driving conditions. I initially brought my vehicle in for service due to a leak. Rainwater enters the cabin through the area where the pillar is not properly secured. This has resulted in significant water damage and the growth of mold inside the vehicle. Because of this, I have been unable to safely operate my Explorer and have kept it parked in my garage for nearly a year. What is particularly troubling is that Ford continues to manufacture new Explorers, which clearly indicates that the required parts are available. It seems reasonable and necessary for Ford to divert these parts to dealerships and service centers to repair recalled vehicles, particularly when the issue directly impacts safety and vehicle usability. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate Ford’s failure to resolve this recall in a timely manner and hold the manufacturer accountable for providing a safe and functional remedy for affected owners.
On January 19, 2024, Ford motor company advised of NHTSA recall 24v031. My vehicle is affected by this safety recall. I have been advised by victory Ford of kansas city, 1800 n 100th terrace, kansas city, KS 66111, that after repeated inquiries, repairs are still not available, nor is there an anticipated date when parts and repairs will be available to complete this safety recall. The "important safety recall" notice I received indicated parts were anticipated to be available toward the latter half of 2024. If the manufacturer is required to report an incident in a timely fashion, are they also not required to perform the required remedies in a timely fashion?.
When I was driving down the highway at a normal speed (65 mph) the passenger side windshield trim piece detached from my vehicle. I was not able to confirm that the piece of trim was the origin of the noice. I was not able to determine that until I reached my destination. This is a large trim piece and I could imagine it could cause damage to vehicles behind either to their vehicles or their tires. I will be taking the vehicle into the dealership to have the area with the missing trim inspected. It has not been inspected by police or insurance. There were no warning lights, sounds, or any indication that the piece was about to fail.
The trim between the drivers door and the back door is coming off. And the front passenger door does not shut right there is gaps.
All plastic parts around all doors and windows have become detached. Windshield wipers do not stay on. All lights and gps go haywire and flash on and off gps system goes off and makes loud buzzing noise.
Ford has failed to fix recall for over a year in which side pilar’s can detach from side of vehicle causing unsafe driving conditions or damage to other vehicles. I have called Ford several times over the past year and they don’t have parts to fix the issue and keep advising its months out.
I was driving on the freeway. We were having a windstorm. A strong guest of wind tore off the passenger side windshield trim piece.
The a-pilar cover came loose, as described in the recall, while on the highway at legal speed of 65mph. It remained attached to a rubber piece and started flapping around the windshield and passenger side door, until it completely detached and blew into traffic. This occurred in December 2023, reported to insurance but was told it's covered by recall. As of yet, no repair path is provided by Ford. Help pleasr.
There's an open recall, I am not sure this is part of it. This part is falling off lh door entry keypad pillar and the rh door entry fell off while driving and I had to get it replaced. The paint of the hood is also bubbling up and chipping. I thought it was just wear. My step father has a 2016 version and he hardly dives it and it is happening to his too.
The driver and passenger windshield trim started to break apart while traveling at 70 mph. First the soft trim started to fly off and then the hard trim started to lift off. Luckily I was able to pull over before it completely flew off on the highway and hit the cars around me. Did some research and it looks like this is a very common issue for the Explorer and some cases end up worse than mine.
Windshield trim panel detaching and flying off my car while driving at highway speeds.
Driver's side a-pillar trim fell off while driving at highway speed.
The a pillar panel on the windows are a hazard. While driving yesterday the panel flew off and hit the car behind us causing the driver to over react and almost crash into several other vehicles. Ford has been unhelpful with this matter on making these safe.
While driving in the freeway the plastic cover on the front "a" pillar flew off causing it to crash onto the front passenger side window before falling off. It could have caused serious bodily injury to my wife (front passenger) if the window was rolled down.
The black trim/molding around the front windshield is breaking and perking off in chunks while driving on the freeway.
I paid for a pillar repair on my own and they have not sent out reimbursement remedies. See below. Jan 19,2024 manufacturer recall number24s02 NHTSA recall number24v031 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary in some of the affected vehicles it may be possible that some of the exterior a-pillar applique trim clip attachments are not properly engaged due to improper assembly or repair. If this occurs, the a-pillar applique trim, which borders the right and left side of the windshield, may be loose, missing or become detached.
