2 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/01/2025

My water pump started having a small leak about 2 weeks ago to where I had to put water in to get to work and then again to get home. I contacted Ford to inquire about a cost for this repair and was told they had to diagnose first. Then on Friday Aug 1st my children and I were driving on the interstate and had just gotten off at our exit and the car died in the middle of busy traffic. After waiting for the car to cool, the water was added and I took the car to a Ford dealership. If I had been on the interstate when this happened we would’ve been in a serious if not deadly accident. The leak needs looked into to see if it’s a faulty pump. I’m now looking at a complete engine repair over a leak. Also the back passenger door frame is a blind spot for us who are 5’5.

Ford said it’s the steering gear that needs to be replaced for $2600. My driver and lane keeping assist lights came on when this started happening. My car needs a new sensor because of the wreck as well. This has prevented me from attending to everyday activities such as work. The front warning sensor did not beep as I tried to parallel park along a sidewalk. I gently hit a curb and had to have my tire replaced, seems like I hit it just right for a chunk to be taken out and threads were exposed. 20 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2014 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/26/2023

My 2014 Ford Explorer sport backup camera has begun showing mirror image and the review guidance markers have disappeared when in reverse. The camera works it simply show a mirror image in the camera. I believe the camera issue is the same for newer models that have been recently identified on tv news and newspapers. I would like to add my vehicle to the recall.

21 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

I purchased my 2020 Ford Explorer st in 2020. Since then, I've had several warranty issues and recalls. Presently, this "blue screen" issue when the car is placed into reverse cannot be resolved by Ford who offers no solutions other than platitudes. This is a significant safety issue with the vehicle as the exterior camera assist does not work ("blue screen") and beeps intermittently when the vehicle is in reverse, which is a distraction. I cannot comprehend how/why a vehicle has had so many issues and believe action should be taken against Ford to remedy these problems.

22 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2017 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/28/2022

We had an issue with fuse 34, it popped and sent warning lights to the dash regarding safety systems and sensors, as well as the cameras in front and back stopped working. We replaced the fuse and it held for a while, but then popped again. I noticed a lamp flickering one day on the front of the vehicle, and upon further inspection saw that the front camera and wiring harness had started on fire. The wiring harness is fully melted and there are signs of smoke and fire damage on the front of the car. I took the vehicle to a Ford dealer who confirmed their wiring harness had failed, but will not take responsibility for the issue. The care only has about 45k miles on it. I called to their corporate office who also rejected any liability. Obviously this is more than just the money for repairs, but a safety hazard that they will not respond to.

23 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2013 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 09/28/2022

Rear backup camera stopped working a year ago. The rear of the car is a huge blind spot and have had a few close calls with pedestrians and other vehicles' when backing out of parking spots. My son also has a 2013 Explorer and his rear camera stopped working several years ago.

24 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/15/2022

The issue was initiated when you turn the vehicle on. The vehicle would process through normal startup modes, and then produce several error codes and light illuminations, all within several seconds. The illuminations would consist of; traction control error, auto hold error, descent control error, lane assistance error, and collusion avoidance error. This would then maintain the error during the trip or until the vehicle was powered off for several minutes. After the power cycle, the vehicle would start and show no symptoms of any error codes, at all. This would happen in several different instances a day, lasting several months. In several of my cases, this would disable traction control for longer periods of time throughout the day or week as well. This places extreme risk to drivers who may not know that there are so little standard safety features active while behind the wheel. Additionally, it affects drivers ability to stop, which traction control and auto hold disabled, and reduces the safety of everyone else on the road. I took the vehicle twice to a Ford certified dealer and repair shop to investigate the issue. The technician was able to verify the codes that arose from the incidents. However, the first instance when I took the vehicle in, they were unable to locate a solution to the problem. After the second visit, they recommended a complete reprogram of 5 major computer modules that have created the system error. I inquired since this seems to be an issue widespread that they could not identify as a user error, but rather an equipment defect. They indeed charged me for the service when this should be something that should be issued a recall and fixed at a wide spread level. The safety of others while on the road are effected and may lead to serious vehicle accidents as a result of the failure of the vehicle component.

25 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 05/18/2022

When reversing the rear camera display turns blue and I'm not able to see anything behind me using the safety camera feature. I rely on the camera to assist with detecting people or objects in my blind spots while reversing and intermittently the display turns blue. There was a recall for this make and model and manufacture date, but the vehicle is not included in the recall. Recall information - rearview camera recall 21c09. The dealership can't reproduce the issue because it's intermittent and there are no error codes, so they won't replace the camera. They've tried several software fixes but the problem continues. No warning messages displayed when the issue occurs. Thanks.

26 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2021 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

I do realize there is a recall for back-up camera; which I've had issues with since early part of 2022 (we bought vehicle in April 2021). March of 2022 we had our SUV to dealership about screen turning blue; which they supposedly did some deprogramming. Then, in July of 2022 had it back to dealership because the blue screen became worse; in which they said they replaced the whole system ( I have receipts/documents to prove this). Well, now when in reverse we have blue screen or black. Occasionally when in drive while driving or sitting idling the screen either is blue, black or completely freezes to where none of options such as navigation, hands-free calling, or anything can be done/used. I have video footages, I have pictures and the matter is only getting worse! I have called Ford corporation, I have taken the SUV recently to local dealership and just keep being told that all that is connected to back-up camera; that there is nothing they can do!! the Ford Explorer has had many electrical issues ranging from 3rd row seat (have receipt/documentation of this), to at times air/heat not wanting to work. Plus, it has had oil leak coming from front cv axle (have receipt/documentation of this). Anymore the local Ford dealership gives me the run around about repairs it seems to keep me coming back to pay for diagnostic repairs. Ford corporation when I call them puts me on several holds while they "supposedly" call local dealership about the issues (Ford corp acting like they don't know nothing). In addition I ve found out that all services, repairs aren't being reported as required by law to do. I tried to upload my videos/media of the SUV but it wouldn't upload to this website. If there is a specific email I could send the videos/media footage, the receipts/documents I'd do it immediately!! so, "please" let me know if there is an email!!.

27 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/21/2021

Within weeks of vehicle being out of warranty apim module failed. Vehicle completely lost all gps, intermitment screen failure that prevents seeing backup camera. Forward collison lights come on for no apparent reason. All lane assist functions intermittently work.

28 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 08/30/2021

I had an issue with the rearview backupcamera. The camera kept going out multiple times. I asked fodd customer care if there was a recall and told me no. One day I was backing up at night my camera went out and I hit a mailbox which was in my blindspot I immediately called Ford to alert them that the camera went out a d I damaged my vehicle. Ford requested that I bring in my truck and changed the camera. They found out the camera had an electrical shortage. I attempted to get forx to pay for the damages to my vehicle and they refused. The total estimate was 2700. 00. The response why they denied my claim was I had an accident and they were not responsible regardless of the camera not working. They told me to contact my insurance to fix the damage. I feel I wouldn't have had an accident if my rearview camera did not go out. The backup assistance beep would have sensed the object behind me in my backup view and I would not have damaged my vehicle since the object was in my blind spot. I feel that Ford is responsible for the repairs and I have video proof that my camera was having issues prior to my accident. I need Ford to fix my vehicle at no cost to me. They are ignoring the fact that the backup camera and blinspot assistance failed.

29 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2020 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/09/2021

30 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2017 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 12/15/2020

Last night one of my hankook s1 noble on my 2017 Ford Explorer blew out while driving on the 405 freeway and required me to pull over and change the tire. At 21,000 miles on the vehicle/ tires the mechanic shop told me the tires were basically bald and had rubber evenly eroding (which indicates not an alignment issue). The tires were also rotated and supposed to last 50,000 miles. There are also many other complains on these tires throughout the internet but not recall has been initiated by hankook. They have advised they will give a pro-rated discount on new tires, which is completely unreasonable and negligent. .
