The contact owns a 2013 Ford Explorer. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph the power steering had failed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure. The contact also stated that when the automatic lane guide was engaged it had shut down and the vehicle jerked out of lane. The contact stated that she pulls off the roadway and turns the vehicle off and on and this would reset the power steering. Additionally, the contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who advised that she had a problem with her rear suspension related to NHTSA campaign number: 21v537000 (suspension) rear toe link. The contact related the steering failure to NHTSA campaign number: 14v286000 (steering). The contact stated that her vehicle should have been on the recall lists for those two recalls. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it not been diagnosed and had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 214,000.
