2 Power Window problem of the 2022 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 06/23/2024

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the passenger’s side rear window failed to roll up. The contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle, as a certified engineer, the master control switch on the driver’s side door had remained in the down position allowing for the window to remain down. The plastic around the switch was warped, causing the switch to remain in a downward position to activate the button. The contact manually raised the window and disconnected the connector from the circuit board to allow all other windows to properly function. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the VIN was not under recall for the failure. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000.

8 Power Window problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 02/21/2012

None of the windows will work, they were operating properly and just quit. This vehicle is unsafe to drive, in an emergency, (such as a crash). The occupants of the vehicle could become trapped in the vehicle because the windows would not operate. If a fire occurred the results could be tragic. Ford is aware of this problem along with several other problems on this vehicle. Yet they choose not to repair or replace any of the known defective components. My vehicle has a lot of miles on it, but this problem along with other problems on this vehicle happens on lower mileage vehicles also.

9 Power Window problem of the 2011 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

Purchased this vehicle for my wife a little over a year ago. At first everything was fine but then at about four months we started having issues with the window not rolling up. The dealer took care of that issue with no problems. Then we take it in for the scheduled maintenance (oil change/tire rotation) & our tires had inside cupping in which the dealer does nothing about & still have not. At around 22k miles my wife notices the vehicle starting to jerk when stopped or moving. Over the past 8k miles this gets worse & gets to where the vehicle has stalled out numerous times (still or moving). I have made an appointment with the dealer to resolve this issue. Not sure the cause yet.

10 Power Window problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 06/05/2010

After starting the ignition on my 2002 Ford Explorer, my husband and I noticed an obnoxious smell in the car. My husband pulled over and looked under the car and did not see anything. I looked at the driver's door and saw smoke coming from the power window buttons. My husband turned off the ignition. He felt the buttons and they were very hot. Eventually the smoke subsided. He later on removed the fuse that correlated with the power windows. He drove the car home without incident.

11 Power Window problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 05/18/2010

All 4 windows on my 2002 Ford Explorer no longer work properly. You either can hear they are going to soon fail or have already failed (the driver's side window has already failed and I had to spend over $500 for the repair and now my passenger-rear window has failed and will no longer go back up).

12 Power Window problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 01/01/2010

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer. There was no accident or any reason leading up to the failure. Both of my rear door windows can not be moved down (or up). The switch mechanism does not work and needs to be replaced. This is an on-going problem that Ford is aware of, that is costly to the consumer to repair and which could prove fatal should an accident occur and the occupants could not escape through the windows. I feel that a recall needs to be done about this problem as it seems to be a manufacturing/component defect of Ford's.

20 Power Window problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 07/06/2005

I am presently having problems with the rear passenger windows on my 2002 Ford Explorer. It appears that there is a serious problem with the motor and/or window track system. At present, I am not able to operate neither of the windows. In fact, when and if I attempt to do so, all that is heard is the motor attempting to maneuver the window. Neither one of the windows come down when I attempt to do so operationally. On the other hand, they come down on there own (slides down everyday). Unfortunately, I have to wedge an object on the side of the window, so that one of the windows could stay in place (to no avail, it continues to come down). I have attempted to reach out to winner Ford in cherry hill, n. J. , (where I purchased the SUV, nevertheless, they claim that there are no known recalls, and instructed me to call the Ford manufacturing company ). In taking their advice, I have attempted to call Fords complaint department, just to be told that they are not able to do anything. It is apparent that they are just tossing the problem back on the consumer. I have done some research on the above mentioned problem and have noticed that there are other owners who are having the same, if not, similar problems with the rear passenger windows. Hence, as a result of an incident with winner Ford a little over a year or two ago, I am not willing to invest money into a problem that is obviously manufacturer related. I had purchased a window control (driver's side) that had been recalled and was told that since I purchased the control prior to the recall, I was not entitled to a refund. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. An unhappy consumer, armando andujar p. S. The incident date is a estimate.

28 Power Window problem of the 2000 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 10/22/2003

My 2000 Ford Explorer's passenger-side rear power window shudders when it is rolled down. Yet Ford has instructed me through our local dealer that it is a common problem in Explorers, hence it is deemed "normal. " I had followed the proper channel to complain to Ford's vp of customer relations but they just notified me by mail the matters considered closed. Following are more details. 1. First visit on may 7, 2003. Dealer claimed weather strip was too brittle. Part ordered. 2. Second visit on June 4, 2003. Weather strip replaced. Problem persisted. 3. Third visit on September 12, 2003. Lubed regulator. Problem persisted. 4. Last visit on October 22, 2003. Dealer contacted Ford technical assistance and was told to check for loose bolt, which was replaced. Problem was still there when I picked up the car. 5. Service representative was instructed by Ford to inform me that the shuddering is common to all Explorers and is considered "normal. " hence, though problem is not fixed, Ford will not authorize any more repairs. Indeed, an examination of other Explorers in dealer's lot prove that many have the same shuddering problem, while some shake even more violently than mine does. In all cases, the problem seemed to be confined to the rear windows. Even the dealer representative admits the operation of those shuddering windows is not normal. I submit to you that an ill-fitted window that binds can shatter and seriously injure any passenger sitting next to it. If all Explorers have a loose bolt in the seat-belt assembly, they wouldn't consider that normal just because it happens with high frequency. Be it a quality or design oversight, Ford cannot be allowed to use a low standard as excuse to renege on a warranty repair.

29 Power Window problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 07/31/2003

Multiple issues with my 2003 Ford Explorer which include the electronic mother board having been replaced twice (under warranty), cracked liftgage (not under warranty cost $300), transmission rebuild approx 90,000 ($3000), dome lights do not turn off, door ajar lights, electric rear windows do not open, o/d light flashes and now the final problem after having replaced my transmission in July 2011 is a drive train or drive line issue. At approximately 45 mph after dropping from a higher speed, a thumping happens. Diagnosis for this issue has been 3 days still with no final determination.

33 Power Window problem of the 1998 Ford Explorer

Failure Date: 05/15/2002

Back in may 2002 my drivers door lock stuck in the locked position it has power locks and I could not get it unlocked unless I pulled the lock button up while I pressed the power lock and unlock switch open an close a multiple amount of times. I brought it to a Ford dealer and had it fixed,it cost me $219. 35 nit was the door lock actuator that needed to be replaced,it has been 1 year almost to the day and it failed again. I think is a big saftey problem because if there is a fire or there is an accident and the automobile ends up in a lake or river the door lock can get stuck locked and a person could get stuck in the automobile.
