The contact owns a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport. While driving approximately 25 mph, a noise emerged from the rear hatch window. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and noticed that the piece that held the window in place was fractured. The vehicle was repaired for the same failure in March of 2015. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 159,149.

2 Structure problem of the 2004 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 05/02/2009

I own a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport. The glass hatch has become increasingly hard to close in the last couple of months, because of this at times the hatch is not completely latched and will pop open unexpectedly. This past Saturday, 05/02/09, the glass hatch hinge completely broke off when I went to close it. My frustration is that I am willing to pay for problems through normal wear and tear and of course through my own error, but this is manufacturing defect.

4 Structure problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 05/29/2008

There's no failure just rude and lack of communication with workers. On 12/21/07 I took my letter of the recall for the cruise control to grande truck center on interstate 10 @ w. W. White rd. "gary randall and finally got the replace ment on 05/29/08. Mr. Randall explained what was to take place after I asked him why did the worker tear my cruise control button(the plastic) he stated 'no he should have looked inside but under the hood-my cruise control plastic fell of and I just assume that it was a part of the replacement of the recall so I left it in the car until the recall was done-to find out the plastic was not replaceable by the one who broke/tore/cut it. After the job was finished the rude worker just slammed the hood close and walked away-very rude. Poor representation of the Ford company-race has always been an issue with these type people that should not be working in the public-now I would let them do nothing else to my vehicle again not even recall.

6 Structure problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 12/14/2006

Every time I hit a bump or even a rock my car would shake and rattle so bad I couldn't even keep it on the road. We took it to the Ford place in longview and they said there wasn't any recalls on it and they wouldn't pay for it. They said something had been sprayed on it (bushings) or my car had been up north around salt water. Neither were true. I had to take it to a mechanic to get it repaired. I kept all the parts. The bushings had turned brittle and mushy and had to be put in a box.

7 Structure problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 05/11/2005

Vehicle hydroplanes on wet surfaces resulting in crash on may 11, 2005.

8 Structure problem of the 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 05/09/2003

I just bought a Ford Explorer Sport 2 door to tow my boat. The specs for towing provided by Ford are 5100 lbs. Maximum trailer weight, 350 lbs. Max tongue weight. My boat & trailer is 3200 lbs and tongue weight 280 lbs. , well within specs. My first trip trailering 20 miles to the lake the vehicle then trailer swerved, since the weight pushes the rear down & front end up so that little weight remains on the front to control steering. The Ford engineer consulted said "if he bought the explorer to trailer why didn't he buy the 4 door" (implying it has a longer wheel base & is more stable. The service director & shop foreman at the dealer agreed that the front end is too high to be safe but Ford refuses to take any action to correct. Nlm.

10 Structure problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 03/10/2001

I was involved in an unexplained roll over involving a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport, a 2 door vehicle. I did not have firestone tires on the vehicle in question. My goodyear tires were intact after the accident. I have reviewed the test data and I am convinced this is a faulty vehicle design. I nearly loss my life. It has changed my life. It seems as though your organization has cleared Ford indirectly by focusing attention on firestone tires and not testing all Ford SUV's.

11 Structure problem of the 1999 Ford Explorer Sport

Failure Date: 12/01/2000

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport with a step bar that has completely rusted of the first year of purchase. After the winter of 2000 the bars has been rusting more and more there is nothing that I can do as a consumer. The dealership will not replace it under my warranty because they consider that wear and tear. This matter needs to be attended to as a safety issue. Stepping on a rusty bar that will give any time soon can not be good for anyone with little kids.
