My car stall intermittently over the last few years. Seems to be when I break. I understand this has been happening with a lot of Ford vehicles and should be looked into.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. Purchased the truck from backus Ford on the 15th of Feb and noticed it had a rough idle and when turing the truck right or left in the idle speed it would almost stall. It has been back to the dealer four times to solve this problem but it is still there and does the same thing . It acts like it is missing. Backus has gone thru all specs on it and cannot find the problem. I think it might be a chip or computer problem but they (the dealer) does not. Has any one else had this problem.

My 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac stalls when going down the road. It's like you're taking your foot off the gas and back on it again except that isn't what I'm doing. Today it did that and then went dead while driving down the road. I took it to the Ford place but they said with no lights on it wouldn't do any good to hook it up to a machine. They said it could be anything from electronics, fuel pump, etc. My warranty runs out in about 4,500 miles. This has been going on for about a year with the stalling out but this was the first time it actually went dead while driving down the road. I would estimate that over the past year that it has stalled at least 25 separate occasions but only 1 time so far did it go dead.
While driving at any speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The cause has yet to be determined. Please provide additional information.
While driving at any speed vehicle intermittently stalled. Consumer made contact with the dealership. The cause of failure was not identified at this time. However, floor manager suggested that for another $125. 00 consumer could have a nice and decent new car".
While merging onto a freeway, couldn't get over 2,000 rpm and thus couldn't get enough speed to merge on at over 25mph. Vehicle stalled several times while trying to get off the freeway. New vehicle has 10812 miles. Ford maintenance dept stated they couldn't find anything wrong, it ran fine for them. My husband went to pick up the vehicle and in drive it ran, in neutral couldn't get more than 2,000 rpm, mechanic said it was the governor, needless to say, my husband said fix the car. They still have my truck.
I purchased my 2003 sportrack in December of 2002 from sunrise Ford. I drove my SUV home, parked it and went inside for less than 20 minutes. When I came out to drive drive my guests around the block, the vehicle would not start. I called sunrise Ford and spoke with the service department. They sent the sales person to my place rather than a mechanic. He basically belittled me infront of my guests by telling me I did something to my car. It was embarassing enough that the vehicle would not start now I had to deal with the sales person, who as it turns out knew absolutely nothing about the sportrack, telling me I did something wrong to my vehicle to make it not want to start. He finally called the service department, had a mechanic come out and they tried to start it. No luck. Long story short I found sunrise Ford's sales and support staff were very hard to work with right after my sale. I felt misleaded. From arranging a loaner because of this problem to getting a qualified person to diagnose my vehicle. I had had the car nearly 1 week before the problem could be completely solved. My next problem began in August of 2003, roughly 9 months later. It is now stalling. Most cases have been while stopping for a stop sign or light. Other times just after leaving the stop light or sign, it usually stalls immediately when I accecelerate. The worst case has been while on the on ramp to the freeway. In all cases I lost all power, except for the radio, and was able to restart the engine. After having the Ford dealership run a diagnnostic test on my vehicle the found nothing. . .

Consumer complained about a stalling problem. Vehicle was taken to dealer. However, the problem had not been corrected. Also, right rear door locks malfunctioned, and door couldn't be opened except from the outside.
