6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Ever since I got the truck about 4 months ago I have been having a problem with the rear breaks locking up. It happens after the vehicle has been sitting up for a few hours and it's raining or there's a good but of moisture in the air. When you first get in the truck the rear breaks will lock up on you only going forward for some reason. If you apply very little pressure it does it. After about 10 times locking it up it drives fine as long as its not parked for a while. On a good hot summer day with no moister or rain it does do it at all. A few weeks ago I backed out my drive way it was raining and it did it. So I decided to pull back into my driveway and take my fiance's car to town. When I was pulling up it locked up when I trying to stop and slid into the corner of my home. No major damage was done just cracked the front bumper. I have taking it to 3 local macnics. None know how to fix. They looked at the breaks, rotors and hubs. All was fine. One macanic told me this was the 3 time he has seen this on the same exact kind of truck. I do like the truck. But I'm terrified to drive it. I thought about selling it, but now I'm in a situation where if someone gets hurt in it I would feel horrible. I sure hope someone on here can help me out with this problem.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 11/10/2014

I just recently purchase this used vehicle and while coming to a stop or applying the brake the vehicle accelerated instantly at the same time brake pedal was pushed. I was wearing boots at the time and the toe of the boot does stick out further then my slip on shoes. This happen twice both times while wearing boots. I tried to observe what may be the cause although I was approaching stopped vehicles at the time. I recreated the movement while parked in neutral, engine running and wearing boots. The same thing happen. What happens is the toe of my boots push the accelerator as I pushed the brake pedal and it moved down toward the accelerator pedal. It appears to be a design issue as the accelerator and brake pedal are very close to the same level. The accelerator pedal should be further down and away from the break pedal. All is well if the center of the brake pedal is pushed with shoes in vertical position although in and emergency it could be contacted off center.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Failure Date: 11/28/2009

I currently own a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. During the thanksgiving holiday, while my vehicle was stationary, there was a spark, then a fire under my hood. The flame ignited and melted the speed control switch. After speaking to my regular mechanic he mentioned that there is a recall on this piece and we should have it looked at by Ford. Upon having it towed to a Ford dealership they told me my VIN was not included in the recall list and therefore would not be covered. I spoke to a representative with Ford customer service who confirmed what the dealership service department had stated. When I asked how my vehicle could have the same issue as recall #09s09 (speed control deactivation switch recall) but not be included, all the representative would repeat is that the recalls are VIN specific and there was nothing else she could do. My question is that if this is the same item/issue as the recall, then why isn't my vehicle covered in the recall? can you please provide me any assistance on resolving this issue? the vehicle is currently awaiting an estimate and being repaired at ancira Ford in floresville, TX.
