Two problems related to gas tank strap have been reported for the 1996 Ford F-150. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1996 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph the fuel tank detached from the vehicle. Approximately 3 gallons of fuel spilled out of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who advised him that both straps were severely covered with rust and needed to be replaced along with the fuel tank. Both straps and the fuel tank were repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure and stated his VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 122,700.
