Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 1997 Ford F-150 - part 1

I was in a wreck traveling 25 mo making a turn to head west and I collided with a simi and my air bags did not deploy at all I was told but emts that the were shock that the air bags did not deply they told me that they should have.

The contact owned a 1997 Ford F-150. While driving at an unknown speed at night, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 300,000.

The contact owns a 1997 Ford F-150. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when he turned the steering wheel to avoid a crash and crashed into a ditch. The air bags failed to deploy with the impact. The contact suffered from two fractured vertebras. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic but had not been inspected to determine the cause of the air bag failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000. The VIN was not available.

The vehicle was involved in a head on collision at about 25 mph. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Owner will contact manufacturer.

Consumer's vehicle was driving about 40 mph and was rear ended by another vehicle. Upon impact, front air bags failed to deploy.

I was driving about 55 mph on 15-501 highway on route to unc hospital. When all of a sudden, my truck went totally out of control for no reason and my then 4 yr old and I had a terrible accident. The truck was totaled. We were both in seat belts. She was belted in her car seat in the back and I in the front drivers side upside down the airbags never deployed! we were thought to be dead at first until my daughter started crying. We were rushed to unc hospital in chapel hill for cuts and contusions. At that time, I had no major pain, but now, I can hardly walk sometimes because of the way the truck landed in the embankment upside down hanging twisted in my seat belt . We were lucky not to have died but now after 3 years I am in constant leg, hip and back pain that I know was due to this accident. Now what? my legs go numb all the time and I cannot even bend my back half the time due to this.

1. The front engine cover gasket on my 1997 Ford F-150 was defective. There was a recall at one time on this problem but was checked by a Ford dealer and nothing was found to be wrong. Approximately 6 months later it had to be replaced. Because the recall had expired Ford would not replace it for free and so I had to have it replaced at my cost of $600. 00. 2. Air bags and seat belt restraints. My wife had a wreck in the same vehicle and the air bags did not deploy or did the seat belts lock up like they are supposed to. I tried to get Ford to explain to me why that would happen and they said the insurance company would have to handle it. The problem was still not solved. Also the abs did not work.

Hit from behind/rammed into another vehicle at approx 30 mph; abs did not work (brakes locked instantly); airbags did not deploy upon either impact; seatbelts did not lock to restrain passengers. Mr.

Had just pulled away from a stop sign when another vehicle hit the center of f150 with left front fender. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. Driver suffered injuries and treated in emergency room. Ts.

1997 Ford f150 in accident, front collision with road sign at 65 mph, then rolling over several times and landing on its top. The airbag did not deploy.

While driving with snow and ice on road vehicle went into a skid, and then 8-10 feet down a ditch. Driver's and passenger's air bags did not deploy, cause unknown. This veheicle had four recalls. The first recall was just after two months aftetr purchase. The consumer received multiple injureis during the accident as the result of air bag failure. Consumer had three tire blow outs within the last seven months.

While driving 40 mph had a frontal impact in which driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, and did not protect occupants in this crash. No previous problems with airbag system. Please provide further information.

While driving about 35 mph vehicle struck a telephone pole, but air bags did not deploy.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, and the airbags did not deploy, resulting in minor injuries. Dealer will inspect the vehicle.

While traveling 35 mph in frontal accident air bag did not deploy. Dealer and also manufacturer has been notified .

While crossing a bridge another driver's boat stalled in the middle of the road, causing consumer to crash into the boat, at about 30-40mph ,and air bags did not deploy.

Driving at approximately 70 mph ran into trailor, and then went upinto an enbanknent. Dual airbags did not deploy, causing some head injuries to driver.

Vehicle experienced an accident which involved an impact of approximately 35-45 mph. Upon impact, both air bags failed to deploy. Dealer notified.

Driving at approximately 35-40 mph consumer hit a vehicle that had jumped in front unexpectedly ,dual airbags did not deploy, causing neck/chest and head injuries.

The consumer has been experiencing problems with driver's side air bag. The consumer was involved in an accident while going 35mph. Driver's air bag failed to deploy. The manufacturer has yet to be contacted.

While driving 40-45 mph had a direct frontal impact in which the driver's and passenger's airbags did not deploy, which did not protect the occupant in this accident. Cause unknown.

Vehicle was involved in a collision at 45mph. Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy, and the seat belt restraints did not retract, resulting in minor injuries. The manufacturer has been notified.

The abs braking system malfunctioned, causing the front wheels to lock up, and had no steering and braking ability, and caused 2 frontal crashes. Upon impact, driver's airbag did not deploy, and did not protect the occupant in this accident. Please provide further information.

Driving at approximatley 55 mph consumer hit cow with left front side ,dual airbags did not deploy, and fuel shut off valve did not function properly, which could have resulted in injuries.

Consumer was driving at approximately 35 mph and hit a vehicle head on, dual airbags did not deploy, causing injuries.

Consumer was involved in a 50 mph frontal collision in which the driver's and passenger's air bags did not deploy. Also, the wheel separated from the hub, cause unknown .

While driving 15 mph and another vehicle traveling about 35 mph had a frontal impact, and both airbags did not deploy. Also the passenger's seat belt buckle unlatched at the time of the accident which did not protect the occupant in the accident.

During frontal impact at 40 to 50 mph, the driver's and passenger's side air bags did not deploy.

Engine check light is defective, also airbags did not deploy upon impact, extended stopping distance occurred when brakes were applied. Contacted dealer approx. 7-8 times. Problems still occurs. Provide further information.

Mfr # 97s86 NHTSA recall # 97v171000; consumer contacted the dealer to have recall work corrected. Work was corrected. However, the consumer was involved in an head-on collision traveling 15 mph due to the steering wheel locking up. Consumer also stated the driver's and passenger's side air bags did not deploy.

While driving at 55 mph, blew a tire and had direct frontal collision and both airbags did not deploy. Insurance company states that there is no defect with the sensor.

While driving at 38-45 mph the vehicle had a direct frontal accident with a house and both driver's and passenger's side airbags did not deploy, causing injuries to the occupant.

Vehicle was involved in a collision and the air bag did not deploy.

Dual airbags did not deploy during front end collision; impact 11:00; lost control of vehicle, went up/down an embankment; airbag indicator came on, no deployment.
