: the contact stated a puddle of oil was noticed under the transmission. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop who determined the transmission seal ruptured. The seal was replaced. The repair shop would not just replace the seal, they stated would follow the TSB's instructions and replace all the necessary parts. Updated 09/25/06.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2006

Transmission went out. Vehicle is only driven about 200 miles a week, and sits from Monday to Friday without being driven at all. It just went out while driving down the road. Has not been fixed yet. Was not going fast at the time because we had just stopped at a light and when we started driving it had no power.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Consumer had been having trouble with vehicle popping out of gear. This time vehicle popped out of gear when it was in park, pinning consumer against the fence and cutting his left pinkie finger off. He stated that no one knew why it kept popping out of gear. Consumer was unable to fully work until Nov. 2003 due to a pin holding his finger in place.

Failure of transmission at 58000 miles. Upon inspection, a sticker was found on the transmission that claimed it was eligible for replacement the year of purchase. Truck was part of the 'sold as heavy duty but we will give you a rebate because it is not really heavy duty' scam.

Consumer was traveling about 10mph on a side street to park and heard a cracking sound. Was trying to turn it in a reverse mode, and it wouldn't move at all. Vehicle had to be towed to dealership.

The vehicle stalls numerous times I have been involved in 1 minor accident with a stationary object I was almost hit by a tractor trailer when the vehicle stalled at an intersection I have tried numerous times to resolve the problem to no assurance that the vehicle is good to drive I have contacted Ford and the dealership and also been contacted by them I have been given the run around numerous times. The truck has been to 2 different shops and it goes back in on 9/4/00 they have tried 3 times to correct the problem and only once did they do something to try to correct it and it has not worked.

While driving throttle malfunctioned, causing sudden acceleration. Driver had to press down the brakes in order to stop vehicle. This may have caused a crash. Also, problems with the transmission system. After taken in to the dealer, dealer claimed that no adjustments were needed, the floor mats were causing the problem. Consumer believes that adjustments were made however, because vehicle shifts much better now.

11 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 03/01/1991

The contact owns a 1991 n/a Ford F-150. The contact stated that after parking, turning the vehicle off, and exiting, the vehicle suddenly began to roll backwards. The contact was able to get back into the moving vehicle, press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle from moving. During the incident, the contact sustained a right shoulder injury that did not require medical treatment. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 250.

12 Automatic Transmission problem

While traveling in overdrive to pass engine went into neutral, losing 3rd gear / overdrive. Failure was internal due to 2 gears stripped out of transmission with one not getting proper heat treatment. Please describe details.
