2 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2019

While driving 75 mph on interstate 40, vehicle went into fail safe mode (happened a couple of times). Subsequently, engine began with a ticking noise with ever increasing rattling/shaking to a point that the engine had to be turned off. This happened numerous times while stopping or idling in city traffic. Local Ford dealership replaced all coils & plugs, throttle body, fuel filter, etc. Vehicle ran fine for six months, however the rattling, knocking, shaking, surging, stalling have returned two fold. Vehicle is now experiencing a massive oil leak from the engine. Had it checked by an independent mechanic who could not make the repairs (but did complete an oil change). Ford motor company is totally responsible for these issues. These issues are not just inconvenient and expensive but mortally dangerous to the passengers of the vehicle as well as to anyone in close proximity. Step up Ford!.

3 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2016

I purchased my 2005 f150 with a 5. 4l trinitron engine new in 2005. I completed all regular scheduled maintenance using the recommended products, most of it done in Ford dealerships. This 5. 4l engine is a poor design and should be recalled. It has numerous problems. I had a safety inspection done at a Ford dealership and it passed even though it had a ticking sound in the engine and I had hesitation and loss of power. At that point, I had already replaced the transmission at 62,000 miles! now at 105,000 miles the plastic camphasers broke apart, the timing chain broke and the engine is blown!! that is unacceptable for a Ford truck to last that long and have that many problems. This engine is a piece of junk! Ford needs to stand behind its' "built Ford tough" trucks and make this right. I'll never buy another Ford.

4 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

F-150 began with a ticking noise and turned into a loud knocking noise, vehicle looses power or completely shuts off while driving. Replaced coil packs, and spark plugs (one broke off due to horrible design). Basically, had to take apart the entire engine replacing several parts to still not have a drivable vehicle. Mechanic just informed me there is nothing else to do but replace the entire engine. Thank you Ford I owe about $8000 on this pos. I have already sunk $1200 into the vehicle and will now be looking at over $5000 to replace the engine.

5 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2015

The truck has a ticking sound inside the engine. I have had that noise since I bough it. 3 years ago I had it checked out at a Ford dealership and they said it was normal. This year on November 4, I took it again to the Ford dealership and they found the problem. Its a bent rod. The problem is that the extended warranty that I have will not cover itunless the know the cause of it. So Ford is saying its a defected part. Insurance wont cover it and they want me to pay thousands of dollars to repair it!! if its a defected part, don't you think Ford should pay!!.

11 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2010

I have owned my Ford truck for almost 8 years and I have experienced nothing but bad luck with this engine and me and other Ford owners agree that this engine is 1 of the worst engines that Ford has produced and they know it. And are reluctant to do anything about it. And its costing me thousands to replace spark plugs and camphasers. My truck now will stall when put in reverse. It also has a loud ticking noise to it. I know its the camphasers again which I already replace about 4 years ago. This truck is costing me more than its worth. I only have 85000 miles on it. Ford needs to do something about this problem. Me and other Ford owners of this model cant keep slamming money into something that is a complete failure from the start. This truck is dangerous and the problem needs solved.

13 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

My 2005 Ford F-150 w/ 4. 6 triton engine lost compression around the #3 spark plug from the passenger's side. The engine ran, but with loss of power and a popping noise. The truck has less than 55,000 miles. Leaving me stranded and requiring towing.

14 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2005

Two weeks after purchasing my f150 I noticed a ticking sound coming from under the hood while driving down the highway at approximately 55 mph and with the a/c on and the fan in low. I drove for another week to determine what the noise was and found that it is apparently a relay that is being cycled when the a/c compressor turns on. The switch will cycle anywhere from once every ten seconds at 55 mph and above with the fan in 1 or 2 to once every thirty seconds. The switch seldom cycles while the vehicle is at idle but can be heard to cycle when the a/c is switched on or off at idle or while the vehicle is in motion. There is no apparent affect on the a/c system operation. The ticking is very loud and annoying. This is not normal for a new vehicle. I took the vehicle to my dealer and they did several things, first they recharged the a/c system and tried to return the truck to me. I drove it down the street, noted the ticking still there and took it back. I spoke with the service manager who told me that the ticking is "normal" on these trucks. I pressed the issue and he made some adjustments and ultimately changed the switch/relay that is cycling. This, however is the wrong solution, obviously the switch works, what is not working is what is causing it to cycle so frequently (as often as once every ten seconds). After a full day at the dealership, I took the truck and haven't had the time to take it to another dealer to see if they had another solution.

15 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2005

When I start the truck it makes a ticking sound and when I have the a/c on it makes the ticking sound every few seconds. I took it to the dealership 2 times so far and they say that it's normal sounds from the a/c compressor but I'm not sure that it is normal because when the truck is started with the air off it does this. Also when braking, the steering wheel shakes strongly and uncontrollably. This is everytime you brake and at any speed until coming to a complete stop.
