Pulled out of driveway and made it 50 feet and whole truck shut down right on the road. Could not make the vehical restart no click or anything dead right where it stopped. Could of caused an accident. Had to have truck taken to a shop they took a week to find out that the electrical fuel system harness had a dead short in it. So no fuel going to the feul injectors or to the key to start the vehical. Still have head lights and breaks and radio. Just no way to restart the vehical. They checked thw wires and after unplugging many wires to the fuel system and retesting it started. Left with the truck a day later the same thing happen but this time I had to jump a curb to avoid an accident and coasted into a parking lot. I got out and wiggled a few of the wires and the truck started back up. I made it back to where I was staying only 2 blocks up the road and it died in the parking lot in a stall. That has been over 3 weeks and cant find the parts to fix it even by talking to Ford shops. There not able to get this harness due to they have been discontinued. . . Truck has low miles on it and now I dont know what to do. This is my daily driver for work. This shouldnt of happened with the wires being wrapped even the mechanic who has his own shop but also works for Ford as a mechanic he has seen this before and now having problems getting parts. I hope you can help with this matter. Due to its very disturbing to myself when its in good shape and was taken care of and now cant get parts. .

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2018

Ford had an extended warranty on their 2005 5. 4l engines in the F-150 trucks. The extended warranty was for customer satisfaction program 07m08. The extended warranty covered fuel injector failures but failed to cover the result of those failures. I lost several injectors which resulted in "damage to other powertrain components. " those component were the catalytic converters. Both of my catalytic converters failed. The vehicle would hesitate when accelerating and fuel consumption increased as the catalytic converters continued to fail. Emission testing was never performed of this vehicle. I can be assumed that emission testing would have failed while the vehicle was still under the 07m08 coverage.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

Following purchase from a Ford dealership with a tune up and milage related service completed my 2005 Ford f150 ran for less than 6000 miles before a stuck fuel injector caused a failure of the engine. At the time I was coming to a stop under normal conditions following a 18 mile commute from my previous stop. A metallic sound was heard and the drive became shaky and weak in accelaration. I proceeded 4 blocks to the dealership to assess the problem. The faulty fuel injector which was undetected until complete failure and resulting damage to engine components. This problem is well documented by other Ford owners online will cost my family over $6000 without a recall on the parts known to fail widely in these vehicles.

Vehicle went into "failsafe" mode on two separate occasions within the last year! and most recently, two weeks ago! both at highway speed on two different interstates in florida! very dangerous, and hard to control vehicle to "limp" to a safe place to stop! many possible causes from electrical, fuel, or engine issues that are well documented on many internet sites and f150 forums! also rust issues on roof of vehicle in rain channels! very common, and very poor design!.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2017

My 2005 f150 XLT 4. 6l engine blew out the #3 spark plug. This is a terrible inconvenience and frightening to think that it could happen at any time and leave you stranded in the middle of "no where", a very dangerous situation, could even be life threatening and yet Ford will not own up and take responsibility for their inadequate design. To think that this could happen at any time and leave me stranded in the middle of "no where" is very frightening and could be dangerous and life threatening. This could prove very costly at $280 a plug. .

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2016

Bought the truck used at 150000 miles. After 5000 miles the loud ticking that these trucks are known for became louder. At 161000 miles the engine died. I started it up in my driveway one morning and instead of just ticking, it was knocking 100x louder. The truck began shaking violently. Then it just died. All this happened in a matter of minutes. Had it towed to a shop, and they said I need a whole new engine. I can't help but think if I was driving and this happened, what the outcome would be. I have read hundreds of complaints from people online saying similar things. Ford is aware of the problem, but no recall was issued. That is irresponsible, and very dangerous on Ford's part.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2016

Purchased my vehicle used at the dealership with 85,000. Which is typically a good break-in point for a truck. Well after having the vehicle home for less than a month I've noticed a ticking in the engine. A ticking that I knew little about until further research into these vehicles. Seems that along with thousands of other people in the world I've purchased a Ford lemon. The engines rarely make it past 75,000-100,000. Ford as a whole are aware of this issue and deliberately find ways around having to take the liability on. The only solution to the ticking is 1,500 in repairs of the cam phaser, which in a timely manner melts like butter or replace it with a remanufactured engine only to encounter the same issue. Whether or not this vehicle is over 10 years old this is an issue that needs to be addressed. An engine should be able to last more than 100,000 miles. I have driven this vehicle less than 500 miles and the problem is evident.

I purchased my 2005 Ford F-150 right out of the show in 2005 and first began have jerking issues 6 month later a mechanic then told me that it was related to the fuel injectors. Since that time I had to replace the transmission twice in 2008, a timing chain and bent rods in 2014 and currently another timing bent rods and debri from the oil pan. 26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2015

I own the above mention vehicle, there was no disclosure to me at the time of purchase of a very serious design flaw with the spark plugs that could and likley will break off in the engine during replacement and the extreme cost in changing these plugs around 900 to 1000 dollars if no plugs break off and even more in the plugs do break off or heads have to removeed to extract the plugs even worse pieces of prshell could fall into the engine cycndler and cause engine damage to around 8000 dollars now that I aware of the extreme cost 3 or 4 times the amount for routine maintence of changeing spark plugs in these Ford vehicles Ford is no help at all saying its not a safety issue I cant help it the design flaw with these long 2 piece plugs is so serious and the price gougeing of the consumer for the cost to change spark plugs is so exspenive and so bad I strongley feel that the federal gov should step inno the matter and help the consumers out and not allow Ford to get by with this extreme bad design flaw and the outragious cost they are chargeing and the fed gov should force Ford to recall all affected vehicles and mandate that Ford eat the cost of changeing these sark plugs and put in the newly develpoed plugs that are not prone to become seized to the engine and Ford shall do so at no cost to the consumer safety or not it is just unbeleivable they can get by with such a serious design flaw with such a high expence to the consumer for something that is surposed to be routine.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

Bought a 2005 f150 triton v8 5. 4l new in 2005. I have now experienced a cam phase problem which will cost appx 2500 to repair. Talking to my mechanic he said that it was no promise to fix the issue , because theese motors are known for this issue. Was told it would be easier to put another motor in so I wouldn't haft to worry about ,if it would fix the problem. My brother has a 2008 Ford with the same motor and had the same problem ,but his motor after having the cam phaser's replaced blew up and had to replace the motor. After reserching and talking to several ase qualified mechanics they all said that theres an issue with the 5. 4 liter triton motor. Upon calling Ford motor company as I well figured would happen they said that they would'nt help with the cost and that there was nor recall. Consumers should be able to get more than 100,000 miles out of a vehicle they buy. If Ford wants to keep customers happy they should adress theproblem and the goverment should be mor vigalant in assuring the consumer is protected from companies whose produt dosen;t meet standards. I would like to see the goverment to look at all complaints through a survey on this motor to find a solution for the consumer.

Over the past 5 years I have had my truck go into fail safe mode. My truck will flash fail safe and I will lose all power to the vehicle. I'm able to coast to a stop. I have been able to re start my vehicle and continue driving.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2014

The 5. 4 liter engines have a design problem that's costing owners a lot of money just to replace the spark plugs. The plugs are twisting off or breaking because the block design allows the plug to extend into a hole that allows carbon buildup around the tip of the plug. When you try to remove the spark plug the bottom of the plug is sealed tight to the head therefore allowing the top of the plug to twist and not the bottom. This is happening to a lot of truck owners and some dealers won't even attempt to replace the plugs. If one breaks, it could cost up to $2000 for the repairs. I have 4 of them broke off. I have ordered the extractor kit but the back two cylinders are going to be hard to repair. I like my Ford truck but since the earlier model Fords were blowing plugs out of the blocks and now we can't get them out without an extractor, to me this is not good engineering. I would like to know what Ford is doing about this extreme cost to its customers. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

At 58,000 miles engine malfunction due to a broken valve spring. At 101,879 mile started to make a loud rattling at startup and subsided until the engine was warmed up. This continued until I reached 273,000 miles and the engine just stopped due to oil starvation and cam phaser failures. Oil was changed as required through out ownership.

On highway at 60 mph engine started to miss. Was able to get it to my mechanic where he said a spark plug had failed. The plug broke when removing. He was able to remove the plug. Then due to a squeal under the hood when the engine was cold, he removed the intake and found the seal had failed, while it was apart he noted 2 leaking fuel injectors. All defective parts were replaced. In August that same year I replaced the other 7 sparkplugs, having 4 more brake off. The extractor tool worked great.

35 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

I was pulling out into traffic when the engine wouldn't respond. Luckily it wasn't on a highway the on coming traffic had enough time to avoid me. There was no warning I thought the truck had died and went to restart but the engine was idling. I then put the truck into low transfer and was able to move to a safe place by idling until a tow truck could remove it.
