I bought a 2007 Ford f15 fx4 truck a years ago, and took it to Ford to asked them about the ticking noise coming from engine. They told me that it was normal on the 5. 4 triton. About a week ago the ticking got louder and I looked up problems online, and found that there is a design flaw in the engine that causes cam phasers to fail, and oil pressure drops to zero. Ford knows about the problem, but when I called they told me that I need to replace the engine, and that it would be on me. I looked on several Ford forums and found that there are 1000's of people talking about this. Is it going to take someone getting killed before Ford owns up to there problems! they are ignoring the issue and having the consumer pay aywhere from 3500- 8000 dollars to repair this issue. Also, the engine has very bad power loss and shakes vigouresly when warm and pulling up to stop or reverse.
I bought truck about 2 years ago took to Ford to have tranny flush on it asked them about the ticking noise coming from engine they told me that it was normal on the 5. 4 triton about a week ago the ticking got louder and looked up problems and found that there is a design flaw in engine that causes cam phasers fail nd oil pressure drops to zero Ford knows about problem but whn you call they tell you that you need to replace the engine well looked up forums and people who have replaced the motor had same problems with it later on yesterday I was driving taking my 2 daughters to school when all of a sudden the engine shut off I lost brakes and steering. The truck behind me had to lock up its brakes to keep from hitting me and my kids so I am writing you to see if you can look into this my kids were so scared the truck slowed instantly when the engine failed I had my friend tow it back to my house where I checked the cam sensors and changed them and did not start still does not start now there are 1000's of people on forums talking about this is it going to take someone getting killed before Ford owns up to there problems they are ignoring and having the consumer pay aywhere from 3500- 8000 dollars to repair this I first asked when I bought truck with 81,000 miles on it.
I was driving down the road and I heard a loud popping noise so I pulled off on the side of the road and turned the truck off. I then saw smoke like the engine had overheated but in a matter of seconds flames ignited and I quickly got out of the vehicle and called 911. As I was speaking to the dispatcher there was a loud explosion and the whole front of my truck was engulfed in flames. By the time the fire department arrived and put out the fire my hood was totally burned up the engine is burned up and melted and the windshield and driver's side window blew out and the dash and front interior is burned and melted. I am lucky that I was able to get out in time because it happened so quickly. I am also glad my 10 month old son was not with me on this day.
