The time chain skips a tooth. I have been having issues with this leading to injectors and constant misfires. I was driving when all of the sudden the car started loosing power and a rattling noise started.
I have a 2007 Ford F-150 with a 5. 4l v8 engine. There was intermittent rattle noise (knocking) and rough idle. After the vehicle warms up and I come to a stop or slow roll the vehicle begins to shake and a loud knocking noise is heard in the engine. This is a known issue with this engine and Ford denies it is. I had it fixed in September 2011, which was covered under warranty with 49,934 miles. The vehicle has started to do the same thing and currently has 82,000 miles on it. I was informed by both the dealer and Ford motor company they will not repair under warranty even though this was prior issue during the warrantly time. Dealer wants approximately $300. 00 to inspect to determine the extent of damage to the engine. This is safety issue as it happens during slow speeds or idle at stop lights and only way to make it stop is to shut off the vehicle or rev up the rpms. I believe the TSB was aware of this issue in 2010 but the manufacture has not notified consumers. This is a manufacturer defect and Ford motor needs to repair or replace the engine at their cost.
Engine makes a rattling noise upon slowing down/stopping/or stopped and vehicle stalls.
