On my truck the passenger side exhaust manifold has rusted and the rear bolts have rusted off. This has caused the manifold to leak right at the exhaust port. This leak fills the cab of the vehicle with exhaust fumes. It is also leaking pre-catalyst exhaust. The fuels in the cab are a serious safety issue and well as an emissions issue. Research on the internet shows this is a very common problem on Ford trucks of this era. Talking to Ford about this they offer a very small discount on the service if I have it done at the dealer. I have had trucks for years and never had a problem like this before. My truck is a 2010 Ford f150 with 106,000 miles on it.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford F-150. While driving at unknown speeds, the contact heard a loud ticking sound coming from the engine and the check engine warning indicator illuminated on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to hawk Ford of st. Charles (located at 2525 e main st, st. Charles, IL 60174, (630) 584-1800) where it was diagnosed that the timing solenoid, exhaust manifold bolt, and timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
My 2010 f150 started getting carbon monoxide coming through the cabin heating system. This was caused by the exhaust manifold and bolts breaking due to rusting out and allowing carbon monoxide to seep into the engine compartment and into the cabin. I as the driver became ill for 2 days as I was not aware that the poison was coming into the cabin at first. I had a 70 mile highway drive to get home. The vehicle has had severe rusting throughout the drive train starting at 3 years old. Ford has never accepted any responsibility for this issue. I want to be clear on this as in hopes of not having this happen to anyone else. I feel I could have died from this poisoning. I have never had a vehicle do this, especially one as new as this vehicle.
Manifold bolts rusting off on 4. 6l 3v engine. This causes exhaust leak under hood and excessive heat to the other parts near the engine. Because smell is apparent at idle.
Exhaust manifold warping. 2010 Ford f150 fx4 5. 4l. Right side manifold warped at 95,000 miles and left side manifold warped at 135,000 miles. Right side replaced for $1,500. Have not done the left side yet. Too expensive. This is a known defect with this model. Should be warranty work.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford f150. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the flapper center intake manifold failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was not available.
Exhaust manifolds are rusting off very bad . Big flakes . I don't even drive truck in winter . I called Ford and gote no help.
My 2010 Ford f150 has approx. 30,4xx miles on it and has been maintained perfectly. In a brief summary, going in to work early (5am) potentially saved me from having a wreck to due a faulty throttle body. Upon accelerating from a red light, my truck entered into a "limp home" mode (mechanic wrench icon appeared) and began to incorrectly regulate my rpms. This caused my vehicle to become nearly stranded as I was moving no faster than 10mph in a 50mph zone. I was luckily only 1/8th of a mile from work and was able to get off the street. Upon leaving work, my truck was acting fine with no warning lights (not even the mechanic wrench). I then proceeded to drive it to an auto parts supplier to have a free diagnostic performed. No codes were saved or showed up. However, while driving back home, it again acted up and entered a limp mode. This time both "check engine" and "mechanic wrench" lights were on. I took my truck to the nearest dealer who then diagnose the problem as a faulty throttle body. I am quoted $881 to perform the replacement of a ~$150 part. . . Since it is a 2010, it is out of the 3yr/36,000 bumper to bumper and Ford doesn't consider the throttle body part of the drive train warranty (Ford will cover the intake manifold though, a chunk of plastic that won't break). . . Ford has apparently had problems w/ their drive-by-wire throttle bodies, as seen through their "consumer satisfaction program 13n03" recall. This incident should definitely be investigated as I have taken proper care of my truck (that has 30,400 miles) and I am stranded in a road, often traveled by 18 wheelers, going 10mph. I am not confident in my Ford truck.
Exhaust manifold studs breaking causing exhaust gas leakage 5. 4l 3 valve flex-fuel on both left and right side. Ford motor company declined to cover costs to repair. Internet full of complaints on this problem and fomoco ignores knows design flaw.
Exhaust manifold leaking, and could be getting into the cab.
