Rear wheel and steering lock up while traveling at 70mph on interstate causing broken controls on steering wheel . Vehicle is unsafe to drive. Truck was taken to rivertown Ford 1680 whittlesey rd columbus GA 31904 for recall repair. Truck was released to me with no signals no wipers. The steering is very loose and hard to control.
Affected vehicle: drivers side door latch stopped latching entirely in frozen conditions and then thawed conditions. A frozen door latch, or a bent or kinked door latch actuation cable, may result in a door that will not open, will not close, or opens while driving condition, increasing the risk of injury. This year needs to be added to the recall. Recall 17s33.
The vehicle experienced repeated and unpredictable loss of drivability while in operation. The transmission intermittently disengages and the gear indicator rapidly cycles between park, reverse, neutral, and drive without driver input. During these events, the vehicle loses propulsion and becomes unsafe to operate in traffic. Warning messages and instrument cluster anomalies were observed prior to and during the failures, including erratic dashboard behavior. The issue has occurred multiple times and is reproducible. The condition appears to be related to a known safety recall involving the transmission lead frame / powertrain control system. The failure creates a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power and inability to control vehicle movement, especially in traffic or while stopped at intersections. The vehicle is not safe to drive and has been removed from regular service. Diagnostic data, video evidence, and photographs documenting the failure and warning indicators are available upon request. The manufacturer has been notified and a recall case has been opened, but the defect has not yet been resolved. The vehicle remains unrepaired at the time of this report.
Previously had the vehicle diagnostic at georgia lina automotive into which I can provide the diagnostics later I was advised that it may be a internal issue dealing with the instrumental cluster a continuously battery warning flash on the dash panel. I was also told that it may be a electrical problem that even cause a fire internally which may damage the vehicle. I was told that out of pocket calls would be $1,956. 05 I reviewed all of the issues that are considered or recall and wiring was most definitely listed under recall versus warranty. I've most recently had the issue of the powertrain warranty for the transmission taken care of under the customer satisfactory program. Unfortunately they did not have this particular issue of the instrument cluster listed due to faulty wiring. Now there maybe many others that face the very same issue, for it seems to also affects the bluetooth connecting with phone under sync. And I am submitting this complaint in a better hope for for the review by your board or committee to conduct their own independent investigation which may makes the difference not only for me but once again for many others. I don't know if there's window. Past the 15 years if a vehicle has been previously purchased such as myself and there was a recall for this particular issue does the manufacturer allows the new owner a grace period as a courtesy which I believe would be appropriate as well as deemed it in the respect of hospitality. I thank you for hearing my complaint hopefully once again it makes the difference not only for me but for others as well. Your time and consideration is highly appreciated, respectfully submitted.
Fuel pump went bad causing the pump to overdraw electricity on the electrical circuit which melted the fuse in the fuse box. The fuse and fuse position was melted beyond being able to use this again. It could have caused a fire in the engine compartment if the circumstances were different. My mechanic reported that he's seen some of these melt the whole fuse box, creating major damage and a major fire hazard. He reported there is a temporary service bulletin out for this issue, so it seems like the manufacturer knows its and issue, but has not chosen to do anything about it.
The transmission made a noise of metal and all electrical when out while driving but the engine stay on but no power to the road. Yes its available. My car loss all power electrical and power to the road, had to put off to the side on the road and turn the truck off and on again. The problem has been reproduced but not confirmed by a dealer. I have done a existential look of the under and power train and cant see everything out of place. Yes like every warning light when on seconds before all power when out. Has never done that before.
My 2012 f150 has been experiencing the same rearview camera issue the 2015 Ford f150-450s have been have issues with that can intermittently display "a blank or distorted image," reducing the driver’s view of what’s behind the vehicle – increasing the risk of a crash. This has been happening for the past year and has been found on several message boards stating the same issue.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at various speeds, the transmission was slipping. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that occasionally the electric mirrors were moving in and out while driving without user input. Additionally, the taillights was turning on and off unintendedly. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the main power distribution box was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
This truck is a safety hazard! the waterpump had to be replaced due to overheating, plus numerous other engine issues. It only has 137,000 miles on it but the real safety hazard is the power steering goes out at random times. And when this happens the dash goes blank. This has happened 4 times and each time we were lucky it was not on a busy highway, and close to home. The mechanic did everything he knew to do, and when we got it back. . . . It did it again!!! now, supposedly it is fixed, and we drove it home with no issues. . . . . But. . . Again, they are random, and I am scared to drive the truck. Will it take someone getting killed for this recall to happen? I have seen numerous post about this happening to others. I live on a winding back road, and if the power steering went out, I dont think it would end well. We are thinking of selling it, but I cant in my heart sell it to someone knowing these issues, and if we trade at a dealership, they will find numerous problems and never give us what it is worth, even though these problems are not from neglect.
I started getting a notification on my dash about a issue with the charging system. I checked system and it is fine. Now I am getting other lights on my dash and head lights flashing. Come to find out, it's a bad body control module. I also have a steering issue, from time to time the truck is hard to steer and I been told it's signs of a bad rack and pinion. I also have had the same issues with my 2011 F-150. The bad body control module I fixed but the steering if bad. I have read on Ford forums that others across the country are have the same issues but of course no recall.
Ecoboost engine shut down on highway in rush hour traffic. Had my truck in the shop after 9526. 00 in repairs and new engine it happened again this week. 1 year later. My truck was under 2 warranty extensions . And was in the Ford dealership at those times. I mentioned to service manager that it seems that possible could be the problem. Now I'm stuck with this mess . And it took 18 months for them to fix/ not fix it. Ford dealership.
My vehicle is experiencing an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor (oss) signal to the powertrain control module resulting in a temporary, unintended downshift into first gear. In some cases, the oss signal recovers while im driving, and the vehicle resume normal function; in other cases, my vehicle needs to be stopped and restarted to regain normal transmission operation. I believe Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition on the affected vehicles.
I had just purchased this well-used 2012 f150xl (1ftmf1cm9cfb36858) because well into retirement at 73 and officially handicapped, it was all I could afford and had to get a personal loan for it anyway. First thing was a lake keowee Ford (reflash recall) which was performed and within a few days, everything electrical stopped and the battery started draining overnight over and over. The truck would not start, the column shifter was locked in park and I could not even push it clear of a carport for a tow truck. With endless research, I find that this shift interlock failure is very, very common on these trucks of all related years and mileages. Below is a quote from a site: according to a survey, more than 75000 complaints reported against this problem across the USA in the last 15 to 17 years. In addition, it has affected the reliability of these f150 models due to sudden column shifter failure with minor internal damage. In my case, the horn stopped working, the seats no longer adjust, the truck is in limp mode only and the steering is now only manual. It is a danger to drive, yet lake keowee is too busy to return my calls and chat efforts, a local repair facility charged $800 to not fix it and refuse to look at it again for “maybe” two weeks” as said, I am disabled and a lifelong type one diabetic so very brittle. I require a means of transportation, yet no one cares enough to offer / or knows how to fix it. This is a known problem that Ford has gotten away with for decades now and an official recall on the shift interlock needs to be fixed. The ball is in your court now.
Back-up camera works sometimes then goes blank.
While driving down the highway, a wrench appeared on the display, then the speedometer went down to zero and the truck wasn’t shifting or accelerating. I took it to the Ford dealership and the diagnosed it as an issue with the leadframe sensor assembly. They also let me know this is a known issue and there was an extended warranty program that my vehicle is over mileage for. The repair cost estimate was $800 for parts/labor. They also stated that the part is on back order and may be a month before they could get it. When I asked about driving with the issue they said it won’t do damage to my transmission but may intermittently cause shifting issues and could result in loss of reverse. I don’t feel comfortable driving it like that but it is my only vehicle. I also contact Ford customer care directly but there was nothing they could do to assist and pointed me here.
Service advance trac warning light comes on when backing while steering wheel turned. Multiple instances. Clears after a few minutes, but researching issue seems to be widespread across the Ford community, and has resulted in steering locking up while vehicle is in motion. Scheduled for maintenance visit to local dealership to diagnose. Codes read were c1963 & u0428.
Today, my 2012 Ford f150 would crank, but would never start. The vehicle had gas and no issues with the battery. When this occurred today, I found out online that the 2009-2014 Ford f150s have a common issue associated with fuse 27. In 2015, Ford issued a technical service bulletin (TSB 15-0137) related to this issue, but according to Ford’s customer service I was never informed of this TSB because it did not include my truck’s VIN number. None the less it appears to be the same issue as noted in that TSB. After the truck wouldn’t start today, I inspected the engine compartment fuse box. It appears the fuse 27 which provides power to the fuel pump has a commonly known issue of burning up. For my instance today this did appear to be the problem. Fuse 27 was completely burned up on the side of the fuse closest to the engine. Fortunately, I was parked in this instance and my safety or the safety of others was not put at risk, but my big concern is if the fuse were to go out while driving down the road or highway. The sudden loss of fuel due to this common electrical issue could have greatly put my safety and the safety of others at risk. The only warning message that I noticed prior to this issue was a battery warning, but when the vehicle was taken by an auto parts store to pull the code and check the battery, there was not issue with the battery. Note: the battery was replace 5 months ago. I believe this common issue that I and other Ford f150 owners have experience should be investigated further by the NHTSA to keep myself and others safe when driving or traveling in a 2012 Ford f150 to avoid the sudden loss of fuel to the engine that could result in significant injury or death.
Vehicle died when driving (and has continued to die when driving). Seems to sputter as if downshifting and then totally stalls out, causing safety concern when driving in traffic and randomly dying. Luckily had somewhere to pull off of the road and not cause an accident. Have confirmed with auto repair shop that the main concern is the powertrain control module. Shop has been able to replicate this happening as they have driven it as well. No warning lamps/lights/etc present prior to this happening.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle unintendedly downshifted from 6th to 1st gear. The contact shifted the vehicle into neutral and coasted to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was turned off and restarted and regained proper function. The contact stated that the turn signal was also blinking abnormally. Additionally, the speedometer failed while making a left turn at slow speeds. The vehicle was restarted to remedy the failure. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic and was informed that the vehicle had been producing incorrect dtc codes. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the molded leadframe had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
The problem with this vehicle is the body control module has gone out. It controls everything from the safety functions to back up cameras and engine function and starting. My truck first, lost its back up camera within the first year of purchase, then the driver side, turn signals, stopped working, the battery drains overnight, and the latest issue is that the truck will turn off while driving down the road. Three months ago, the engine cut off and all systems locked up while I was driving 45 mph in town. There are no issues with any other system in the truck. Mechanics have tested everything and state. It is only the body control module. I am unable to purchase a body control module from Ford and my mechanic, the Ford mechanics, the Ford distributor for this region, nor carmax, where I bought the car can get the part because Ford says that all of their shelf held parts for this vehicle type are defective. They state is a known issue and there is no date for resolution at all. The date on the shelf hold is zero month zero day zero year meaning no date. The body control module in this series of Ford f1 50s is a “known issue” to Ford. Due to their semi conductor manufacturer contract that has lapsed for this older technology, they state that the 4000 vehicle’s that currently require this part are not they’re greatest concern. They stated that there is an indefinite “shelf hold” on this part due to their only being less than 50 of them available for anyone to purchase. Those parts that are being held are also suspect of defect. Since I have only owned this vehicle for two years and it is under the extended warranty, I purchased with it having only 19,000 miles on it that I have put on it, it seems that they should at least allow me to buy one of the shelf, held pieces to replace mine. Please help the 4000 of us. Please encourage them to do what’s right for all of us. I still owe $17k on a non-running vehicle carmax or Ford wont buy back.
The rear-window defroster over heated on the passenger side causing that window to chatter. At one spot at the bottom, the rubber frame around the glass started to melt and burn just before the window chattered. If I had not been standing close to see what was happening, and turn the control off, I believe this could have started a fire that could have burned the entire truck and areas around it threating people and property. This is also a safety concern for anyone sitting in the back seat at the time of window chattering, as small shards of glass could hit passengers possibly causing eye and other injuries. Due to my incident, I did research on youtube an other Ford forums that document many others being a victim of this same problem over several years including 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and maybe more. Owners over the years have documented and informed Ford about this problem, apparently without any trucks being recalled or getting much help from Ford about this problem. Ford and NHTSA should be concerned and Ford held accountable for this defect. Many owners were told buy the service men that replaced their back glass because of this issue, that this was quote a "common problem caused by the defroster" on this trucks. If there are "safety concern" that yell "recall!", this is for sure one of them.
The vehicle would down shift aggressively into first gear. The speedometer and gear displays would not function showing 0mph while driving. The vehicle would move through gears erratically. Driver and passengers would be jerked forward. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Ford dealer. There were no indicator lights at the start of the issue. Indicator light appeared after multiple incidents spanning over a few months .
Temporary downshift at highway speeds making it impossible to maintain highway speed. Dealer is aware of the issue and the part they need is unavable. Able to drive the truck in manual until the problem began happening while in manual, truck is not drivable.
Unsure of how fire started but truck was in garage at repair facility and the dash spontaneously caught fire and burned. The truck had been parked for over 48 hours and keys were not in ignition . The truck can be seen on security camera video with a small flash starting in the dash then larger flames inside the cab. It burned for about 3 minutes then the fired died out but not before completely burning the dash . There is security camera footage which was too large to upload.
The truck will randomly downshift while driving losing all power on the highway not allowing the truck to increase in speed until it is turned off and restarted. After it is restarted, the speedometer stays at 0 not showing how fast we are going. While this is happening, the check engine light flashes. I have contacted the Ford dealership in our area multiple times over the last month, and they have yet to respond on the concern. Not all the trucks electrical components are working. The radio, power locks, power windows, and horn do not work. In July 2022 the truck was taken to a Ford dealership to be diagnosed, and they couldn't find a reason/cause for this in order to get the truck repaired.
Vehicle lost its power in the power steering system, and you lose all control over the vehicle and you can't move left or right making it very dangerous for me while it occurred, since I was unable to move the car towards any direction.
I turned on the rear defrost and my rear window exploded on the passenger side.
Wrench light comes on and down shifts without warning. Very scary when on the highway at 70mph.
After starting the vehicle and putting it into drive, the vehicle would not shift out of 1st gear. Rps revved nearly to red-line and even when I removed my foot from the gas pedal, the revs remained high. Even when underway, the speedometer registered 0 mph and the odometer was showing only dashes "-------------". After a short time, the wrench symbol appeared on the display and the airbag warning icon was illuminated. I pulled over and turned the truck off and back on and it operated normally. No error codes were stored and my service shop will not work on it since it is not happening all the time. On a different occasion about a week ago, I was driving up a residential street incline and the truck was not shifting from 2nd gear. I pressed the accelerator more and all of sudden the truck shifted extremely rough jerking myself and my passenger unsafely. After this the truck stuck in gear, displayed the wrench symbol and illuminated the air bag warning icon. This looks to be highly related to Ford safety recall 19s07 but my truck is not covered by this recall.
Open recall has not been fixed.
While driving (at any speed and from any gear) truck frequently, unpredictably exhibits following behavior: - speedometer need drops to zero regardless of actual speed. - truck loses proper shifting functionality. Event has occurred a dozen times or so since 12 December 2020, usually at speeds and gearing above third. Typical result is truck will not downshift below third gear, but on one occasion event occurred at a stop light, and gearing above first would not engage - odometer, trip meter, gas mileage and other digital information displays null out to dashes instead of showing numbers - a wrench symbol appears on right side of the digital display. Symbol sometimes remains for the duration of the event, and sometimes goes away. - sometimes the check engine light appears, sometimes not - airbag light illuminates if I turn the truck off, remove the key, and then re-start, the truck temporarily returns to normal function, with no indication event occurred (check engine light not on, etc). Truck operates normally until it happens again, often within minutes (or even moments) of the reset, but sometimes not again for the duration of a 20 or 25 minute trip. Truck is not safe to operate in this condition and I have now stopped driving it. I have been stuck at a red light on a grade with a load in the bed and traffic behind me, unable to move when the light changes, because first and second gear will not engage, and third gear lacks torque to get moving. Once, after accelerating from a stop, the event occurred and the truck was stuck in first gear, causing unsafe traffic condition (for me and others) while I attempted to pull over safely through traffic. In addition to photos submitted herewith, I have video clips showing occurrence at highway and at surface street speeds. Contact me if you want them.
The position 27 fuse on the engine compartment fuse box was black, melted and crumbling. From researching this, it seems to be a common issue. I found this out in my driveway while it was parked and would not start.
Fuel pump fuse keep blowing.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure also occurred at vehicle start-up. The contact sparked fuses 7 and 8 together to restart and drive the vehicle. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact contacted sellers-sexton pre-owned trucks and imports (509 vfw memorial dr, st robert, mo 65584, (573) 336-4060) who relocated the fuse lines for the fuel pump. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Truck was going 75 down 127 downshifted to second gear would not go out of second gear very dangerous local Ford would not repair there are 2 safety field service actions out on this truck number 15n05 electric vacuum pump and number 19n01 transmission molded lead frame extended coverage for up to 150,00 according to a letter by NHTSA I have recieved after purchasing the truck.
