Making a right turn off of a county road at 10 mph and epsa fault warning came on. Could not physically turn the vehicle. Was able to get the vehicle stopped. No accidents or injuries. There have been recalls on f150s from 2009 through 2018 with similar problems. My specific VIN number has not been found but I have read similar articles with other customers having the same problem. Living in upstate south carolina. This is the first occurrence. Vehicle with about 140,000 miles.
When I try to accelerate I loose power and the truck reduces in speed dramatically.
Went to drive pickup and check engine light came on, next low fuel light came on even thought the vehicle has a full tank of fuel. Transmission would not shift, gauges are flipping back and forth. Tried to shut vehicle off and it would not shut off once I did get it to shut off it would not restart. Also all the warning lights on the dash were are going off. Vehicle was in motion on the highway.
Rear window defroster inoperative, burning rubber smell.
While accelerating onto a highway, the vehicle completely lost power and the engine stopped and could not be restarted. Had to coast to a safe spot to pull of the road. After investigating the problem, I discovered that the fuse for the fuel pump had blown and melted the fuse block where the fuse is inserted. This is a known problem at Ford for this vehicle and they have issued a technical service bulletin for their dealerships to move the fuel pump fuse to a different block within the fuse panel and install a fuse block that will handle the required amperage. This is a problem that should definitely be a recall by Ford because of the nature of the failure. Losing complete power, including power steering and braking capability is a safety issue and should be urgently addressed by Ford. The NHTSA should force Ford to recall these vehicles and fix this issue before more people get killed.
What driving and a/c cut on and off and had smoke coming from the vent and not long after passenger side dash caught on fire.
On at least 6 occasions, truck misfires and shakes violently when under load or attempting to accelerate. Pull off road or let off of accelerator and engine resumes normal operation. Happened once pulling empty trailer, happened 4 times merging onto interstate. Happened multiple times passing / accelerating on interstate. Frightening and dangerous when truck shakes violently on interstate. Roads were wet or rainy conditions in last 5 incidents. 2012 f150 fx4 with only 87000 miles. No accidents. Truck maintained and in excellent condition.
While traveling at 70 mph the vehicle stalled with the engine shutting down in main lanes of an interstate. The stalled engine resulted in the loss of all power assist features including power steering and power brakes. We were able to navigate across several lanes before coming to a complete stop in a traffic lane but not safely off the interstate. After calling for a tow and requested service. It was determined that a fuse powering the electric fuel pump had "burned" out and had to be replaced. Should have been a simple solution, upon further investigation it was determined the fuse panel had been damaged and would no longer accept a fuse and has to be modified with the fuse location moved to a new location and upgraded to a more robust fuse and fuse placement slot. Ford has been aware of this problem and has only elected to fix those vehicles that exhibit failure and at the cost of the consumer if not within the warranty period. This vehicle has been returned to Ford dealers multiple times with no mention of this problem or repair. Ford has issued a technical service bulletin (TSB 15-0137) and has created a specific replacement kit, which includes instructions and all necessary parts to perform the relocation (motorcraft # el3z-14293-a). This should be a recall as it impacts the safety of Ford's f150 owners, their passengers and those that share the road with them. Failure of all power assist functions while traveling at highway speeds is scary and creates a dangerous situation for those in the vehicle and those around it. It also creates an even more dangerous situation if the vehicle was being used to cross a busy intersection, stalled and then stopped in the center of the intersection. Included are pictures of the fuse and the fuse block damaged during the failure and honestly, a fire could have easily started as a result of this failure.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. While driving at an unknown speed and making a left turn, the contact heard a loud noise. There was an intermittent internal electrical failure and the steering wheel seized. Eckenrod Ford Lincoln (5255 al-157, cullman, al 35058, (800) 944-1389) indicated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and informed the dealer that two sensors and the steering column needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the failures were a known issue. The vehicle was to be repaired by the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.
For over 2 years now an issue with the driver tran module has been causing my truck to go from any gear into first, locking tires up and causing issues while driving at any speed. ** safety recall was made on driver tran module **. However, my truck is now in worse condition without a fix to the issue, but my truck is now shutting the entire computer module down and I have further transmission issues.
My vehicle was serviced for recall 19s07 regarding unexpected downshifting in to first gear while driving. After my vehicle was serviced, my truck began downshifting in to first gear while driving. A new recall 19s19 was issued for improper/insufficient repair of original recall 19s07, however my vehicle's VIN is not yet showing up under this new recall, but my vehicle is still downshifting in to first gear while driving.
Feb 24, 2019 was pulling out of church parking lot when Ford truck suddenly died while merging into traffic. Luckily I had enough space to maneuveur to the side. I turned vehicle off and tried to restart. Ford truck would only crank. . (no start) I had truck towed home. After reading on internet I looked at fuel fuse f27 20 amp. Sure enough it was burned. I replaced and vehicle started up. I asked dealer about warranty under the federal emission warranty and they said nothing exsist. I have read enough to know this is a dangerous issue that Ford knows about and should repair.
While the rear defroster is activated the glass shattered due to what seemed to be a problem with the electrical for the defroster. Vehicle was stationary and running at the time of the incident.
This truck is spontaneously shifting down to 1st gear. It is also getting stuck in different gears and not shifting properly, Ford supposedly has a customer satisfaction program extending the warranty to 150,000 miles for the lead frame, however I took it to my local Ford dealership and they do not want to honor the customer satisfaction program. I called Ford corporate and the same thing. Not only when this problem happens does the transmission mess up but so does the instrument cluster, to the point where the speedometer doesn't work and the airbag light comes on.
Rear passager door ajar come on when off causing intreral light to stay on . The timer can be turned off and still stay on pass 30 sec longest time stortest 10 sec.
Transmission shifts erratically, jumping from lower to higher gears. While up to speed, immediately shifts to 1st causing redlining of rpms. Speedometer jumps erratically. Happened initially while accelerating from a stop. Caused loss of power and feeling of misfiring, then sudden surge forward. After getting up to approx. 40 mph, transmission shifts to 1st and stays there. Could have easily caused a crash if this happened while cruising at highway speeds.
Transmission - output speed sensor is faulty. Had a recall, said the transmission module needed reprogramming, however this did not fix issue of downshifting to 1st gear and unable to shift out of. Also happens to 3rd and 5th. Other 2012's have lead frame assembly replacement which takes care of faulty output speed sensor, my recall of re-programming has all the symptoms of the lead frame recall but is just outside the manufacture date and not included.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 50 mph, the transmission downshifted into first gear without warning. The contact temporarily lost control of the vehicle and it spun out of the right lane into a grassy area. The contact stated that all four tires seized and the vehicle was immediately placed into neutral. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. During the failure, the speedometer and instrument panel became inoperative. The speedometer gauge increased and decreased and the instrument panel lost power completely. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle downshifted and upshifted randomly. Grieco Ford of delray beach (3000 south federal highway, delray beach, florida 33483, (561) 278-278-0303) and autonation Ford margate (5401 west copans road, margate, florida 33063, (954) 644-4976) were made aware of the failures and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. In addition, the dealers requested a diagnostic assessment. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The contact attached a diagnostic code reader to the vehicle and referenced diagnostic trouble code: oss sensor (p0720). The failure mileage was 119,218.
Vehicle has less than 45000 miles. Has erratic loss of power while accelerating. Evidence of water in the air intake. Research is showing that the ecoboost engine is collecting more water in the intercooler than the engine can consume. Problems increases in southern humid states. This is problem caused by faulty engineering in the 3. 5l ecoboost engine and could cause accidents due to unpredictable loss in power. Loss of power is felt while driving on city and highway driving.
Takata recall my truck keeps downshifting and locking up my back wheels on the highway. I just almost had a wreck and this is getting ridiculous.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that driving about 60 mph, the vehicle misfired and shut off. There was no warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician replaced the spark plugs and the coils. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The technician called the wood house Ford dealer (402-574-2759, located at 3633 n 72nd st, omaha, ne 68134) who was unable to provide any help. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000. Fe.
The vehicle would downshift into 1st gear without warning, has occurred when vehicle was traveling approximately 35 mph. The vehicle would also remain in 1st gear after these incidents and intermittently when leaving from a stop, at an intersection. Vehicle has done this several times, in which case the dashboard displayed an illuminated malfunction indicator light and gone into limp mode, with only 5th gear available, while in an intersection. This problem would also cause the odometer to read '-------. --' and the speedometer to read '0 mph', even when the vehicle is in motion, travelling at any speed. Vehicle is in otherwise perfect operating conditions. Diagnostic trouble code p0720 was displayed during these incidents. The manufacturer has customer satisfaction program 16n02 for 'certain' vehicles, in which the dealers are replace the molded lead frame within the transmission. In the case of my vehicle, this program did not apply to my vehicle, while at the same time, the molded lead frame within the transmission was determined to be the source of the issue and subsequently replaced. With my vehicle not applying for the noted customer satisfaction program, with the same faulty part as noted within the specific customer satisfaction program, it is my opinion that the affected vehicles with deficient molded lead frames is far greater than what was initially thought and therefore, the recall program should be extended to all F-150s and similar vehicles within the specified build dates, as noted within the customer satisfaction program. The molded lead frame failure should be considered a manufacturing defect and causes serious safety concerns for the drivers of those vehicles and to the travelling public.
The fuel pump relay and power fuses both melted which has caused starting issues and engine misfires. There are many reports of the same fuses melting in ages 2010 -2014 of the same Ford F-150 trucks. This should be under a Ford recall program as it caused trucks to loose power.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. While driving various speeds, the vehicle downshifted independently. The contact stated that the maintenance and air bag warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the speedometer and odometer ceased to function. Ted russell Ford Lincoln (9925 parkside dr. , knoxville, TN) diagnosed that the power train control module needed to be reprogrammed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls and advised him to contact NHTSA to get the VIN included in a recall campaign. The failure mileage was approximately 84,273.
Vehicle was stationary. Turned defrost on rear power slider window. Saw smoke come from the bottom of the passenger side rear window (outside window trim piece bottom). Turned the truck off immediately and heard a loud explosion. The rear window on the passenger side shattered.
While traveling at 48 mph on 2 lane county rd I was in 4 wheel high when truck slammed into 1st gear causing truck to loose traction and ended up going into ditch. The truck never stalled out all gauges stopped working and tech light came on. I proceeded to be pulled from ditch. Then turned truck off . Checked truck over it has body damage nothing visible under truck so I started it gauges where working tech light was off radio stopped working but could be loose connection I proceeded to limp it home at about 20 mph was shifting hard at higher rpm I had it towed to body shop while at hospital. Recall came on news I went to dealership they said bring it in they'll reprogram it . I'm wondering about damages caused by defect who will be paying for that?this defect is a danger and I can't believe it took Ford 7 years from first report on here to address issue. And they claim only 5 cases of a crash which I have found 7 people who have had accidents because of it 4 of them where single vehicle 3 involved being rear ended because the sudden stop very disappointed in Ford.
Vacuum pump runs excessively and is noisy. This is already a known condition to fomoco. They advise my vehicle is not covered under covered u der customer satisfaction extended service bulletin. Https://Ford. Oemdtc. Com/1760/15n05-electric-vacuum-pump-extended-coverage-2011-2012-Ford-f-150 Ford reference # cas-24279039-d5h0k6.
Rear window defogger quite working.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly and the speedometer independently ceased to function. The air bag and maintenance warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to art hill Ford Lincoln (901 w Lincoln hwy, merrillville, in) on four occasions, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was also taken to paul heuring Ford (720 n hobart rd, hobart, in) where it was diagnosed that the molded lead frame was defective. The manufacturer was notified and stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 16v248000 (power train) or customer satisfaction number: 16n02. The contact was also informed that NHTSA was responsible for adding the VIN to a recall. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
My f150 started to drop in to 1st gear unexpectedly when driving at at speeds greater than 50mph. At first the check engine light did not come on and mechanic could not find a source now I am getting engine codes p0720 and p0722. When I tried to investigate I found that this has been recalled on some 2012 Ford f150 but not mine. This is a serious safety issue and has cause unexpectedly down shifts on national interstates. I urge you to please investigate this thoroughly.
I turned on the rear defrost and my passenger side of the rear window shattered. There was a loud noise when it happened. I was driving when this happened. The dealer and other Ford personnel have admitted this is a widespread problem - but no recall.
My 2012 f150 rear drivers side window section suddenly shattered after turning on the rear defrost function. Rear defrost went on then I smelled something burning g. The rear drivers side glass section then shattered. There was absolutely no trauma that caused this. The rear defrost will no longer operate since. I contacted Ford service and there is no recall at this time. I searched online and found close to 150 similar complaints. When the glass shattered the temperature was near 30 degrees and the vehicle was not in motion.
Right rear window spontaneously shatters with a sound like a rifle shot 10 minutes after rear defrost elements were turned on. Nothing struck glass. No evidence of impact. Vehicle moving only ten miles an hour in a parking lot.
Started my vehicle on a cold morning turned on the window defrost and rear defrost. Came back to it a few minutes later and the back window was smoking and the gasket had caught on fire. It shattered the window and burnt and melted the gasket. This seems to be a big problem with the f150 with rear defrost and power sliding window it either breaks the window or catches fire mine did not even blow the fuse. Have seen many cases of this thru f150 forums and Ford has not come up with a solution. It is also a very expensive fix . My vehicle was stationary in my driveway had I not caught it in time this would have destroyed my truck and caught my house on fire too.
I was driving on the highway. While accelerating the truck died. I had just enough momentum to get to the side of the road. Not knowing what happened I got my truck towed home. After researching all nigh, the next morning I pulled fuse #27 low and behold it was melted. I couldn't believe it, I felt very fortunate that it didn't cause an accident. I would like Ford to right this common problem because of safety. I couldn't imagine how mad I'd be if my family were in the truck with me.
